Spacious rooms although a bit dated but had everything we needed. The amenities were good, we didn't have any treatments but used the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi pool with no time restrictions or extra payments. The staff were friendly and polite and got anything we needed but they did seem short staffed when we waited around 15 mins to be served at the small bar but that may have been a one off. Lovely grounds and would be nice to visit in the summertime to be able to use them. All in all a lovely relaxing place for us to visit again. Would recommend.

The room was great and very large, the bathroom enormous and pristine. The staff were cheerful and as helpful as they could be but we had the feeling that they had heard it all before, the food was great. Unfortunately, the whole place needs some money spending on it before it collapses. We asked for the mattress to be swapped after the first night as we rolled together, the new mattress had spent a long time folded in half and you could tell! The tv didn’t work properly, then did, then didn’t. In the spa, the jacuzzi was out of order and had been for some time, changing rooms were cramped, there was only one in the ladies area, the steam room gave up the ghost as well. We went to use the pool on the understanding that children’s hour was over and there were kids doing gymnastics on the chairs and sofas in the seating/viewing area (a health and safety issue right there) and other kids having swimming lessons with half a dozen adult swimmers sitting at the sides waiting for them to leave. On the second evening the boiler packed up and it was cold throughout the hotel, to be fair it was fixed after a few hours but then it took a good while to warm the place. Signage is minimal and unclear. The taps in the disabled toilet downstairs were the wrong way round, could be a problem if you’re partially sighted! We’d be happy to visit again when there has been a bit of a refurb.

All the staff were excellent and accommodating, but the hotel and facilities are in desperate need of improvement. Stained carpets everywhere, ancient gym equipment, breakfast was not worth the money - poor quality of ingredients and the dining space furniture is chipped and look really untidy.
