The place needs doing up it looks abit dated inside and simple things couldn’t made our stay much better

The property looked nice and the location was good for what we needed

The room was cold and the heating wasn’t on, we had to use electric heaters to warm up the room which took a while. The hot water took a long time to come through to our room so showers took a lot longer than we would’ve liked. We booked a table in the restaurant but had to leave as there was nothing we wanted and didn’t offer good value for money we ended up driving to a local restaurant to eat.

The food was good.

Everything else so run down tired, slugs in the room im the night, damp patches everywhere. Spa and pool disgusting dirty and falling apart, water temp cold due to a boiler problem. When I explained to reception they insultingly said they would knock £20 off the room charge and let facitikities team know.

Booked ground floor rooms for my elderly parents and we’re given 1st floor (no lift) rooms when we arrived. Despite phone calls and special request on the booking before hand. Apparently there was a problem between the booking.com system and the hotel system. A room was found for my parents but it was cold, (bathroom rad not working) dusty and sink was blocked. Mum didn’t want to shower cos it was too cold and couldn’t use the sink cos it was blocked ( although this was rectified once mum had walked to reception to tell them) ‘Walked’ as there was no telephone in the room (which was a bit worrying given their age and lack of mobile signal). The hotel is a maze and not enough signage so constantly got lost. Even staff admitted they didn’t know what they’d do if there was a fire! The radiators in our room didn’t work. The light was on but no heat. And consequently came home with wet swimsuits. Restaurant food was ok (expensive) but service and atmosphere was lacking. Team were very inexperienced and didn’t know what draught beer was or the ingredients in some of the dishes. More training (and confidence) needed. No water provided in the rooms so mum requested a bottle and glasses and was told (twice) that it would be additional cost. 1) you’d think a bottle of water would be provided at a 4* hotel, 2) you’d think they could offer one in light of all the problems we had with the room.

Tired decor and needs a good clean, but value for money with excellent leisure facilities.

Good location, nice grounds and great parking. Highlight was the leisure facilities, clean and well maintained. Our room 43 was large and the bed was comfortable.

Communal areas, particularly corridors had dirty carpets and the doors had not been cleaned in a while ( fire doors in the corridors high frequency touch surfaces). We had a net curtain which was hanging off the rail and was badly ripped. Bathroom had some black mould in the shower and there was a small hole in the bath panel. There was a sofa in our room that was not useable as the cushions sank into the sofa bed frame when sat on. There were easy wins to be had that would make a big improvement such as a drip tray onset the orange juice dispenser at breakfast to avoid large yellow stains on the tablecloth, pastries were stale and inedible, carpets need a deep clean, remove broken curtains.

The bedroom had not been cleaned, specifically the floor had not been hovered & was dirty. The charge for dogs was expensive & booking.com did not indicate this on website.

Nice property and staff, just needs more care.

The staff are amazing and helpful and will help with every way they can.

The property is lovely and it’s old but can not help with the odd water leak and stains on ceiling and walls. But the cleaning side to the rooms could be a lot better and stains on item like sofa and bedding could be cleaned a lot better as well. They need a maintenance person to go round and check rooms and bathrooms.

A regreable choice of hotel and will not be recommended

Shower was excellent

Uncomfortable mattress, cold throughout building as no working radiators, very thin quilt not warm at all, dirty doors and carpets and damp throughout hallways, food very poor quality, no TV working in our room and bar ran out of 2 types of gin leaving no choice but Gordon’s ( which I don’t like). No refund after asking, as our stay was awful and not at all worth the price paid!

Loved our anniversary weekend at this hotel. The staff were both polite and pleasant.

We had an accessible room which was close to both the reception and the spa. The room was spacious and in very good condition. The spa area was well maintained and I liked the fact that there were certain times when children were allowed in which meant people could enjoy the quieter moments when avoiding these times.

The meals were a little overpriced for my liking.

Great location, not even 10 mins from the centre of Chester!

Was very hot in room as radiator was turned all the way up and we didn’t realise until the middle of the night when we woke up very hot. The bin in the bathroom was very rusty and didn’t look very nice. The breakfast was okay just not the best selection. Such a lovely old building just needs a bit of updating and love to bring it back to life

Great stay overall

The property from the outside and surrounding is stunning! The staff are amazing! Hard working! The man on reception literally ran around doing everything! The food was great also! There is so much to love about here!

It’s damp…. Really really damp! The rooms walls were wet and the room smelt damp, the price is fantastic and you can’t fault it but I think too long in the room we were in would result in bad health! I would reiterate the staff, food and location are fabulous, but it needs a few pounds spent on it as it’s in need of love!

The food was good and the building from the outside is lovely

It’s very shabby and in need of a good clean. Dirty paintwork. Staff didn’t seem to want be there. No obvious person in charge or leading the team. Poorly stocked bar. Poor check in experience. Staff quite grumpy. Average restaurant service. Food ran out at breakfast. No water or glasses in the bedrooms. TV didn’t work. Bathroom products empty.

I had an excellent stay at Crabwell Manor. Great room in a peaceful location. Friendly staff. Lovely grounds which made it good to walk around. Nice leisure suite made the experience much more memorable. Staff were very helpful and attentive when needed. There was a lot of diverse options for Breakfast although potentially the quality of ingredients could be better.

- Possibly the quality of breakfast options. - was told the jacuzzi was momentarily closed for cleaning and would re-open soon during the period of use. However, whilst waiting, this did not happen and the jacuzzi remained closed. Would have welcomed a more honest answer that it would be shut for the morning period (as to avoid waiting for this)

Lovely getaway location.

Lovely large room, helpful, courteous and friendly staff. Good car park, location on the edge of Chester, peaceful, gym and spa looked good. Fan for cooling down. We paid for a Sunday rate, which was good value. Wouldn't however book on a Friday and Saturday when rates rise significantly.

Blocked bath plughole which I cleaned out . To be fair I didn't report it to the hotel. We arrived on a very hot day, room was very warm. No air-conditioning.

Pleasant stay but a few things let the hotel down

Our room was large enough and the bed was comfortable. Nice towels and powerful shower. Good to have a kettle in the room - a small fridge would have been good. We hired a private room for eight for dinner - bit disappointing to have to pay £50 for that since we were all residents. The meal served was very good, but a number of wines on the wine list were not available or there was only one bottle. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The cooked breakfast was very good - good range of food and good quality. The fruit was fresh but a disappointing range. It was self service but there seemed to be a shortage of plates, cups and the food trays were sometimes empty.

Disappointing that we had to pay £50 for the private room for dinner. Surprised that there were no tissues and no complementary bottles of water in the room. The TV signal was poor - almost as though the set had to warm up for 10 minutes before a stable picture could be watched. The smell in the corridors was not too strong but noticeably unpleasant. Several wines on the wine list were not available or there was only one bottle - not great for eight people.

Gone downhill

Property location is perfect . Most of the staff were pleasant very friendly . Breakfast was lovely good quality produce and taste great

Not allowed to use the bar due to wedding was expected to sit in an empty restaurant for drinks . Room which we when I booked was suppose to be an upgrade from a previous room we stayed in was in fact a down grade . Manager had two bar staff brushing the grass and laughing at them which was very unprofessional while the receptionist who was trying to deal with our complaint was making negative comments on the wedding cake chosen by the bride and groom . I felt this very unprofessional. The room was very tired and a lot of damage to furniture . Toilet heavy stained . Not what you expect when it’s over £200 a night . We were issued a full refund however , celebrating our 10 year anniversary we will never get that evening back . We had to vacate the property and go into town which wasn’t on our plans. We booked a suite as we wanted to stay on site use the facilities , have a lovely meal and spend quality time in our suite . This wasn’t the case . We had to search for a lace that would have availability for dinner on a Saturday evening at such short notice . We had a balcony view of the kitchen and shared it with another room with two lonely chairs on it . I have stayed here on many occasions but unfortunately it’s not the place it use to be . Had we been informed we couldn’t use the facilities we would have booked somewhere else. We were told we should have checked the website ? Who checks the website to double check if all facilities are available prior to a trip ?

Staff are so polite and attentive. We were here for a wedding and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Such a lovely polite lady on reception, she was so nice!!! Standard double room was huge as was the bathroom!!!

There was a pair of dirty knickers left in the desk drawer, yuck! Ordered a bottle of wine with our meal and they didn't have a corkscrew in the building to open it. Fortunately, we had brought one with us.
