No fridge in the room.

A great place to stay, comfortable/clean rooms. Friendly staff
Bit pricey the rooms
9.0 / 10.0
The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable.
The swimming pool was cold.
The evening meal was excellent
however the soup came with a very small bun, so I asked an extra which I message from the kitchen that I would charged.
Spending over £100 on a meal already and asking for extra for a bun.

Good location with friendly staff and whilst we didn’t use it, the hotel has a spa. The basic double and superior double we’re both good sized rooms.
The rooms are basic with only tea and coffee facilities and no bottled water or finishing touches like cushions for the chairs even in the superior room. One of the twin beds needed a new mattress as it dipped significantly.

Mostly perfect. Pool facilities disappointing as some out of action.
Just the pool facilities.

The location is good.
The room was tired, with huge damp spots on the wall by the window. No bedside lights, only master light which wasn't ideal in the evening. Overall the reception area is nice, however, the fire place was untidy, with big plastic online grocery boxes by the fire. Not nice log baskets filled with wood. It felt cold and unwelcoming.

Friendly staff on Reception. Lovely big room. Great bathroom. Improved breakfast with new coffee machine.
For the 3rd visit in a row the jacuzzi was out of action. It really spoils the spa experience.

Very clean throughout and very comfortable large bed with nice bedding and towels.
No 3 pin plug socket near a mirror so drying hair was a challenge!
5.0 / 10.0
The bed was comfortable and we liked the grounds. The man on reception was polite as was the woman greeting us for breakfast. The young lad behind the bar did his best.
It was really cold. Our radiators didn't work in our room or bathroom. There was a couple of little heaters in there which helped a little but you couldn't dry your towel or swimming costumes on them. The plug in the bath was useless and would let water out while you were sat in it. There was a fair amount of mould in the bathroom and the floor was freezing due to the towel radiator being off. The rest of the hotel was cold. The bar was freezing. The food there was very overpriced for what it was. I ordered a bacon sandwich with came cold. The chips were warm. The radiators weren't working and they didn't have the fire on. The corridor leading to our bedroom was also very cold. The spa is just ok. There wasn't enough loungers for the amount of people using the facilities. It was busy and the sauna is tiny so it wasn't comfortable. The jacuzzi wasn't working (and apparently it breaks often according to members) so that was disappointing when you are there on a spa break. Some of the people there had spent a fair amount for the day spa and weren't impressed either. When asked about our stay, we mentioned the lack of heating and the man on reception tried to act surprised but he wasn't convincing. It's such a shame because the place used to be lovely. Now it just seems like they are running it on the cheap and giving guests a poor experience.

Staff were helpful
List is too long. We actually left after 3 hours and did not stay. 1st room was not the superior room with walk-in shower we had booked, garden view was of an overgrown courtyard, room was freezing. After complaining we were moved to a smaller room, it was warmer but had no window had to ask for a kettle and the shower was dirty. We visited the spa, disappointed and surprised we had to pay extra for a thin bath robe & the towels were threadbare and no slippers as the bill hadn't been paid apparently! Changing rooms and shower were filthy with hair everywhere, jacuzzi was out of order. I understand children had been in earlier but the spa facilities resembled a holiday caravan park. No issue with that, but it was not the luxury relaxing experience we had hoped for when booking. For the first time ever travelling we felt we couldn't stay any longer, so requested a refund and returned home. All in all the place has potential but needs a lot of investment and tlc.

Thermostat on shower broken. Heated towel rail did not work. Mattress sagged and stains on the bed throw. Soulless dining room.

Good location and nice staff
The hot tub wasn’t working and heater in room wouldn’t turn off so didn’t get much sleep and the carpet leading into bathroom was loose at the bottom of the door witch caused my partner to trip up

No central heating, a small electric heater was in our room totally inadequate for the size, no heating in very large bathroom
I’m now suffering from pneumonia, not impressed

The look of the hotel is Stunning. Set in immaculate gardens and plenty of parking.
The room radiator was not working and water dripping out of it. Reported it to receptionist but nothing was done even though they were sending out the maintenance man. Did have an electric heater in there.

First of all the absolute best thing about this place is the staff. They are amazing. So attentive and friendly, you are really taken care of. Special mention to Chris in the restaurant who was such a wonderful hostess and always made me smile. As I was travelling alone it is worth so much when people take the time to talk with you. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. My room was beautiful and very nicely furnished with lots of space. In fact the whole hotel is really lovely and the grounds very pretty.. I can see why people get married here. I didn't have any spa treatments but the pool is a reasonable size and the changing facilities adequate.
The gym is rather tired and the equipment is dated. That said it is clean and well maintained and everyone is friendly and willing to help.

arrived late, quick check in.
we stayed here as a late stop over on the way to holyhead, got in at 10pm and tried to get some rest before setting off again at 5am. sadly the elephant upstairs had other ideas. the ceilings were so flimsy i could heart every step and fart whilst trying to sleep. we had our pets with us also who couldnt settle due to the noise. if you want a good night sleep then make sure to ask for the room above to be unaccompanied.

Lovely setting and well kept.
Front door to hotel is hard to open when carrying bags etc so shame something can't be altered there. Lamp bulb in room went, reported to reception and said would get it changed but never did.

Pool was out of service for children, booked this hotel for granddaughters birthday specifically for the use of pool and spa area. Contacted hotel to check use of pool told she would be available only to arrive on the day to be told was to cold for her to use it n both days of the stay. Room was also not cleaned properly shower and bath dirty glasses of n bathroom still had stains of drinks from previous guests. Food at breakfast was cold and poor quality

Spa staff were excellent, restaurant staff equally excellent
Booked via booking dot com, specifically requesting dog friendly, the cost for the area is fairly high but with the spa I thought it would be nice, I upgraded to a suite .. long story I was charged £30 per night for a dog fee clean and barring the bed being made up and towels replaced there was definitely no deep clean. With the additions and a fairy unpleasant check-in, and despite using this facility 4 times with work I don’t think I will return.

From the point of check in the staff were exceptional and the hotel and rooms were very nice if a little cold.
The only issue i had was the heating was not very good and even the small heater provided broke during the stay but apart from that everything else was excellent.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and so helpful, the facilities and the chef was outstanding, the food in the evening in the restaurant was simply beautiful, finally the service and attention from Justin made it so special, we will definitely be returning soon for another lovely relaxing break !
Nothing springs to mind

Lovely building. Gorgeous christmas decorations. Comfortable bed. Good facilities.

The property looked nice and the location was good for what we needed
The room was cold and the heating wasn’t on, we had to use electric heaters to warm up the room which took a while. The hot water took a long time to come through to our room so showers took a lot longer than we would’ve liked. We booked a table in the restaurant but had to leave as there was nothing we wanted and didn’t offer good value for money we ended up driving to a local restaurant to eat.

Spacious room, lovely pool, the most friendly staff (breakfast staff especially, so kind to us and our babygirl) Ideal hotel to be close to the zoo.
Mattress wasn’t the best, could feel the dip and springs

The food was good.
Everything else so run down tired, slugs in the room im the night, damp patches everywhere. Spa and pool disgusting dirty and falling apart, water temp cold due to a boiler problem.
When I explained to reception they insultingly said they would knock £20 off the room charge and let facitikities team know.

Heating not working in our room, but there were electric heaters in the cupboard and we used them. Bathroom still chilly though!

The property is set in pretty grounds.
Extremely tired decor in need of re decorating. The shower area had mould around the seals. The mattress was sunken. The dining/bar/food area was outdated.

Good location
Poorly maintained, double room was two singles pushed together. Which meant we fell through the gap the whole night tv didn’t work either so couldn’t chill. Spa was dirty

Great potential. Nice building and grounds. .
Booked ground floor rooms for my elderly parents and we’re given 1st floor (no lift) rooms when we arrived. Despite phone calls and special request on the booking before hand. Apparently there was a problem between the booking.com system and the hotel system. A room was found for my parents but it was cold, (bathroom rad not working) dusty and sink was blocked. Mum didn’t want to shower cos it was too cold and couldn’t use the sink cos it was blocked ( although this was rectified once mum had walked to reception to tell them) ‘Walked’ as there was no telephone in the room (which was a bit worrying given their age and lack of mobile signal). The hotel is a maze and not enough signage so constantly got lost. Even staff admitted they didn’t know what they’d do if there was a fire!
The radiators in our room didn’t work. The light was on but no heat. And consequently came home with wet swimsuits.
Restaurant food was ok (expensive) but service and atmosphere was lacking. Team were very inexperienced and didn’t know what draught beer was or the ingredients in some of the dishes. More training (and confidence) needed.
No water provided in the rooms so mum requested a bottle and glasses and was told (twice) that it would be additional cost. 1) you’d think a bottle of water would be provided at a 4* hotel, 2) you’d think they could offer one in light of all the problems we had with the room.
6.0 / 10.0
Good location, nice grounds and great parking. Highlight was the leisure facilities, clean and well maintained.
Our room 43 was large and the bed was comfortable.
Communal areas, particularly corridors had dirty carpets and the doors had not been cleaned in a while ( fire doors in the corridors high frequency touch surfaces). We had a net curtain which was hanging off the rail and was badly ripped. Bathroom had some black mould in the shower and there was a small hole in the bath panel. There was a sofa in our room that was not useable as the cushions sank into the sofa bed frame when sat on.
There were easy wins to be had that would make a big improvement such as a drip tray onset the orange juice dispenser at breakfast to avoid large yellow stains on the tablecloth, pastries were stale and inedible, carpets need a deep clean, remove broken curtains.
8.0 / 10.0
The staff are amazing and helpful and will help with every way they can.
The property is lovely and it’s old but can not help with the odd water leak and stains on ceiling and walls. But the cleaning side to the rooms could be a lot better and stains on item like sofa and bedding could be cleaned a lot better as well. They need a maintenance person to go round and check rooms and bathrooms.
