Good experience ❤️

We really enjoyed our stay overall. The location is excellent — right in the middle of the historic center, which made everything easy to reach on foot. The hotel has a very cosy, rustic décor, with a warm “Christmas in a small town” feel. Breakfast was delicious, and our room was huge, with plenty of space to store luggage and belongings. Everything was very clean as well.

The pillows were uncomfortable, and the curtains are quite thin with no blackout, so the room gets bright early. Also, there are stairs to reach the rooms, so if you’re traveling with heavy suitcases or have mobility issues, it’s something to keep in mind.

A charming historic hotel very close to all the historic sights in Freiburg.

Very friendly and helpful staff (my incoming train was severely delayed, and they stayed until I arrived to let me in). I ate breakfast there daily and two evening meals. Evening meals offered good value for money, with a good selection of choices. Portions were generous.

I asked for a room on the first floor due to mobility issues. I was put on the second (third to North American users) which required using a very narrow final staircase. I realize I could have asked to move but perhaps the booking system could ask if a mobility issue needs to be accommodated. The rooms at the front of the hotel get a fair amount of light from the street (curtains are quite thin). Using a sleep mask was a big help.

Economical, central and comfortable hotel

This is not a 5* hotel and I found it a very comfortable hotel that suited my needs. The room and bathroom were large, maybe not full of fine furnishings. I prefer space, so suited me. The bed was comfortable. The building is old, for Freiburg, no lift and the stairs are narrow. This was not a problem for me. I enjoyed the selection at breakfast. Staff are helpful and friendly and many of them speak excellent english. Hotel also does good food throughout the day. One of few places that does a Senior Teller, a smaller portion, if you cant handle a full German portion. It is very central, 5 minutes from Cathedral. 20 mins from train station. Lowen is only place in Freiburg that has Magish Dunkel on tap, everywhere else it is bottles.

Maybe a safe in the room. Breakfast start at 7.45 is a bit late if you have stuff to do in the morning. Maybe thicker curtains.

Exceeded my expectations!

Amazing historical hotel with lots of charm. Breakfast was delicious and abundant and the staff were very helpful and friendly. A true gem.

Super central!

Absolutely perfect location. Super friendly staff. I arrived much earlier than check-in time and they gave me the room anyway. Although the toilet was outside the room (as explained), I was pleasantly surprised to find the room had a private shower.

The shared toilet didn’t have a sink to wash your hands. You need to go back to your room…

We felt comfortable and could relax after a long day of travel.

It's a lovely, old style hotel in city centre. The staff is extremely helpful and warm. We loved our room and the other facilities included such as breakfast. It has a nostalgic appeal for the old-fashioned, with attentive staff but also enough privacy.

The only challenge were the high and narrow staircases as we had slightly large suitcases. But it's an old building and that's just a small price to pay for an overall good experience.

Nice location very clean and amazing breakfast.

I arrived there around 12:00 pm and i told the lady that i would live to have a lunch. The hotel restaurant is opens to the public. I told her i want a table for 1 and she said only in 30 min . And people was coming from outside and she accommodate them. For me wS disrespectful. They should give priority for the guest not for people outside.

loved the location right in pedestrian area. breakfast was great, food in tge eveninf excellent and staff really helpful, i had to leave 5:30 M and they left sandwiches and coffee outside of bedroom door

The communal shower did not stay at a comfortable temperature, it alternates between very cold and very hot.

Worth of price, great location

Staff was friendly. The location is great, in the beautiful old city and short walk to the railway station. At least your room was quiet, despite it was Saturday night. No extra costs for a dog, which I find fair.

The check in took a long time. The breakfast started quite late so not an option for early birds or those who nees to leave early. Rooms were not super tidy and they need a bit face-lift.

A very enjoyable stay.

I spent four nights here and was really satisfied. The room was extremely clean, the bed very comfortable, the breakfast buffet was also good and the location is super. I will definitely stay here again.

Excellent location, very friendly staff, clean and comfortable room in beautiful, old-style German hotel and fantastic choice of meals at the restaurant. Able to store my luggage for a few hours after checkout, which was extremely helpful.

The shower room was slightly dated and had clearly been smoked in at some point as there was a cigarette burn on part of the suite. That being said, it was clean with no smell of smoke and the shower was warm and powerful so that's me being ultra picky. It really wasn't a big issue - it's about the only thing I could think of which could have been improved!

The location was awesome. The breakfast was okay.

I don't know if we were just unlucky with the staff we met, but boy, were they really rude. They constantly made it feel like they were doing us a favor and looking down at us, often ordering us around, and it was just weird and unpleasant. Our room heated up due to the piping in the walls and we couldn't open our window because of the noise in the mornings. The beds weren't great.
