Regency Rooms Guesthouse

Great location for Brewery Quarter and Promenade. Close to NCP car park. Great access instructions.

No staff on site. More like an AirB&B room rental, calling it a guest house is misleading. Part of private function venue which was noisy and carried on into the late evening. Bed wasn’t made up very well and had to be remade.

Quaint and quirky. Genuinely old building with stone staircase original doors, frames, handles and stocked with second hand but complementary furniture, towel rails and wardrobes. The bathroom and shower were modern, worked well with hot water. Windows are single glazes sashes, probably protected features but not sure what they would be like in winter. A quiet rotating fan was provided for current conditions and an old but comfy double bed. There ae only 4 or 5 rooms with a bar and event space probably being the bigger earners. I thought the room rate, which was the same as Travelodge and Premier a little steep, but the quaintness and 6 minute walk to the Brewery Quarter was handy.

The only thing that spoiled it was the paint work which has clearly been slapped on to cover up what is underneath but not very well with blockwork and gaps in the wood clearly visible. Preparation before painting!
