A restful retreat inside the beautiful city of Ieper.

It was spacious and comfortable, great for taking a break during the day if we had been walking the city or touring the nearby region.

Nothing really. The car park was a few hundred metres away and tricky to enter but it didn’t bother us unduly.

Bernard was very friendly nice and attentive. The can opener was broken and he was there within minutes with a pliers and opened up our tins. We were very impressed

Perfect location, slightly away from the main square, which was ideal as the fair was in town. Very clean, comfortable and had everything needed, including secure parking . The owner is a very pleasant, well organised gentleman who was always contactable. Have already asked to go back!

Host has no respect - Wish we had stayed somewhere else.

I would urge anyone to avoid this accommodation I received a text from an association that does not appear to exist. When I attempted contact there is no response and ironically they do not accept calls. The message was in relation to the constructive feedback i had left here and implies that i will be blacklisted from staying anywhere in this region because of my feedback. The standard is poor and cleanliness was poor. I have no reason to be vindictive I am entitled to share my feedback for others. I believe the host has shared my contact details. To the response from the host all i can say is that they are lies I have photographs of the bedding that is used here and i am willing to share them. As i feel strongly about my experience and the message i have received i intend to share the feedback as widely as possible. To the host I look forward to your response. I can honestly say when you were disrespectful to my wife an apology would have been accepted. The standard of the apartments are not like the website. The hosts attitude was appalling. He was rude and disrespectful - don’t let his feedback convince you otherwise. He did say we could check in early at 12pm however the apartment hadn’t been cleaned and still wasn’t cleaned at 16.20. It was doubtful that it had been cleaned thoroughly. Have the photos if it helps.

No smoke alarm Loose electrical wall sockets Trailing cables & multiple extension leads into 1 socket Dirty, soiled mattress, pillows & duvet. No mattress, pillow protectors Sink unit filthy. Had to be scrubbed before able to wash up in it Dirty bed settee in lounge No functioning extractor fans in shower room or toilet. Musty smell Only 1 tea towel & 1 set of towels for 6 day stay Broken coat hangers in wardrobe Mismatched & chipped crockery and mismatched cutlery Having stayed in this property several years ago we were expecting a very good standard of accommodation again. The decline in standards was unbelievable as you can see from the attached photos.

Trip to Ypres

Trip to Ypres. The location is very close to the centre of town but still far enough away to not hear any noise from the pubs and bars. This place has its own parking bays in a car park nearby, too. There's free WiFi if you need it.

Couldn't get the tv to work. I wanted to watch the news but the tv isn't tuned in.

Very disappointed.

The manager changed our accommodation at the last minute saying the shower was broken and we were getting an upgrade. We had to walk to another part of town with all our luggage - he should have told us to go there earlier. It was really a downgrade. Steep and dangerous stairs to bedroom. Toilet in a very tight space. A kitchen cabinet door was falling off. Rusting radiator. We were not told of the available bikes or laundry facilities.

Close to the centre of Ieper yet on a lovely quiet street. Perfect location for my needs. Meet & greet key pickup. A very quick response from the host amid a public holiday to resolve my enquiry. Very pleased with baggage concierge after check-out to help with travel home.

Pleasant stay in an apartment that let itself down in the details

Old Saxo is in a perfect location, easy access to the centre of Ypres with its wonderful museums, cafes, Saturday market and the Menin Gate. On the first floor, the apartment is roomy and full of light. The bed is very comfortable - important! The host Bernard met us there and was friendly and helpful. A small supermarket is nearby and supplied everything we needed. We appreciated the carpark, a few minutes walk away, and his advice about accessing it. The internet connection was excellent.

With a few tweaks this apartment could be better. The kitchen supplies were hit and miss - only two spoons in the drawer but lots of knives and forks. Only 1 dish towel was supplied and there was no hand towel. The frying pan was old and stained. One of the stove elements was not working, neither was the extractor fan. We thought the hot water temperature was dangerously high with the potential to burn if you knocked the control while in the shower - a definite possibility as the shower was on the small size. Most of the chairs at the table had wobbly legs however we found two that were stable. These are minor issues and fixing them would make Old Saxo a near perfect place to stay.

Main shower head, some jets/nozzles blocked and shower curtain would not wrap completely round the tray. Therefore water spilled out onto floor.

Good apartment could be exceptional with a few upgrades.

The apartment was in the heart of the town with good access to all areas, the underground car park was just one street away and very secure as a motorcyclist would happily leave my bike there. The WiFi was free and good and overall the apartment was good. Opportunity to hire a bike and electric scooter from host at a very reasonable price.

The kitchen could have done with some more utensils, plates and cups. The bathroom was below standard especially the shower and needs updating.

A convenient place to stay to explore Ieper, not luxurious but has what we need at a good price.

Very quiet bedroom, bed was super comfortable. Pleasant spacious lounge. Free parking in secure underground garage nearby.

Kitchen equipment was missing some items, some lights did not work, we couldn't get any TV channels.

A fantastic cozy experience in Ypres

This is a great cozy apartment to relax during a visit to Ypres. I had such an amazing time here. The host was welcoming, and it has all the comforts of home. Parking was very convenient.

The shower of Old Saxo 2 is not going to make everyone happy. Neither is the low headroom over one end of the bed due to the roof angle. However, for a solo traveler, these should hardly be a deterrent. This is a great place.

A great place to come if you like city breaks.

Quiet bedroom, comfortable bed, spacious and light open plan kitchen/living room/dining room. Convenient location close to city centre(3 minute walk). Nice modern decor. The free underground car parking space was good to have, as on-street parking outside the apartment is restricted.

Kitchen equipment is a bit random and some utensils not available e.g. bread knife, cheese grater. Some tableware not fully clean- not checked by housekeeping maybe? I'd advise future guests to bring own items such as kitchen towels, bin bags ( if staying more than a couple of days). The sofa is quite hard.

Excellent value and a very nice welcome

The location is excellent, just a 2 minute walk from the centre of town. It is warm and comfortable and quiet. The greeting was excellent from Bernard’s son and he was very helpful.

We enjoyed our stay but avoided spending time in the living area due to the road noise

It's centrally located with secure underground parking nearby. There is the option to use a badge to park on the road, but its time limited - as are the spaces. The apartment is small, but you have everything that you need. You will need to climb three flights of narrow stairs, though.

Unfortunately, there is very loud road noise as the street outside is cobbled and it feels like you're sitting in the road. The bedroom is in the back with two doors in between so sleeping isn't a problem but sitting in the living room is. The shower is tiny with a homemade shower cubicle made under the eaves. Even at 5ft 10" it was a struggle to use.
