Good location, free parking. Friendly service and breakfast
Very dated and needed redecorating

We liked the look of the outside of the b&b.
No hot water. No heating. One of the single beds had collapsed in the middle, so my son just sank into a cocoon.

It wasn’t a great location at a great price
The room was ultra tiny. It was also very old looking.
4.0 / 10.0
Convenient location (we had stayed before the change of owners) and pet friendly.
Since our last stay there has clearly been cost cutting going on. Fruit juice at breakfast was watered down. Breakfast menu had items on it that were no longer available. Staff were sullen and unkempt.

Hotel in a good location and eating places close by. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
Although the breakfast was basic it was nice and well cooked. The toast was lovely.
Would we stay here again, yes!

The position is very good when travelling to Scotland
The shower did not work in our room and we found it quite noisy so did not sleep well

Staff did not have a clue. Bar prices made up single spirit and coke £5 a double £10. Any other drink also £5. Don't speak to you, poor English. Mattress and other rubbish piled up in the side room. Place smells damp and is not clean. Food awful potato and coleslaw salad no spoons etc to eat with. Bathroom is carpeted and smells bad, very very dated. Would not recommend

Across the road from a nice pub.
Very dated. The shower wasn’t great.

did not have it.
The toilets were gross.
The bed wasn`t comfortable.
There was snail marks across the carpet - which was very off putting.
Checked out early and asked for a refund due to the poor quality but this was not forthcoming.

It was fair value for money. Room was a single, not ensuite though supposedly a bathroom nearby was exclusive to the room. An economical place to stay in the city
Very basic accommodation. No frills.

I know it's an old building but the decor could be updated tastefully and snelled of cannabis!
I'll give you 1 free tip mr hotel owner, if you're not going to stop people from smoking in their rooms you might not want to prop all the fire doors in your escape routes open!!
Room was advertised with a double bed yet it was 2 singles pushed together so couldn't sleep in the middle kettle was full of black limescale bits which ended up in my cup so from that point on i was not goingvto use the kettle!. Breakfast was really poor with what seemed like cheap produce with 1 overcooked dry bacon, 1 cheap sausage, 1 overcooked fried egg (wasn't given any other option, 1 hash brown, what looked like 2 mushrooms chopped into 4, a tiny tomato and a thimble if beans!
Very disappointed!!
For the price you charge you offer the least and worst breakfast than hotels considerably cheaper!!!

Ignore the low reviews! We had a great stay here.
Our room was very clean and tidy, a bit dated but nothing wrong with that! Came with complimentary shampoo/soap and tea/coffee/sugar. Bed was comfy and room was spacious, shower worked nicely too.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
We had breakfast in the morning, chef was very nice and we could choose what we wanted to be cooked for us and even gave us a sausage for our dog. Breakfast came out quick, was hot and very tasty too.
Very much worth the price!!

It's a lovely old house with amazing tiling in the hall and the downstairs is quite nice.
The owners have only just taken over a month ago and asked us for opinions on things that need to change. They are doing a big refurbishment but obviously that will take time. He said if you come back next year you will see a vast improvement.
It wasn't particularly clean. The beds were fine though,
The bathroom had no ventilation at all.
The walls were very thin so you could hear neighbours talking. Our room was across the yard from The Cottage and some guy stood outside The Cottage smoking and coughing his guts up at 5am.
One bit of carpet in the hallway was threadbare so was a bit of a hazard.
Our friend's 'accessible' room had an over the bath shower which she couldn't access.
3.0 / 10.0
The bed was reasonably comfortable.
The stairs were covered in threadbare carpet. The room smelt bad, despite the fact that the window had been deliberately left open, so the room was freezing. The room was not very clean and there was dodgy wiring everywhere. The bathroom was grim and needed complete redecoration to make it useable; one of the taps was missing and the shower had dirty grout and neither of us could face using it. The walls were paper thin and we were woken up multiple times by slamming doors, coughing and talking in other rooms. In the morning the entire hotel stank of fried eggs and we could not face trying to eat breakfast with the smell, so just left.

We were upgraded for a larger room, thus not sure if the booked one was competely nice
Staff tries their best
Free parking
Full English breakfast is ok but two toasts for two people is not enough. Dislike served instant coffee.
No place to put toiletries in shower cabin

The building was dated and dirty. The bedroom and bathroom smelt musky and had marks on the walls.

Exterior of building lovely.
Good location
Poor facilities. Some areas unclean. Generally run down. Complimentary breakfast wasn't available on first morning due to full dining area and one staff member dealing with it in the room.

It’s very tired

Very little
Dirty rooms, carpets need cleaning, daily room housekeeping not conducted, dirty glasses and cutlery in the restaurant, cereal containers empty except for dust, £5 charged for one 30cl bottle of standard lager, and overly greasy breakfasts served. Dirty plates and laundry strewn in the corridors.

Lovely old building and convenient location
There was a party downstairs until stupid o’clock in the morning which kept my child awake. Had I been forewarned about this I would have booked elsewhere. The room was quite shabby but the hotel only has 2 stars so not unexpected

The stain glass window
Everything. It was dirty, spiders everywhere (dead and alive). Bed was very uncomfortable. Animal hair all over sofa. Hot tap not working. Water left in kettle. Out of date drink sachets. Guest information stuck in draw due to something either sticky or questionable. Stair carpet threadbare and one of my family walks with a stick and neatly slipped and fell. If we had the money we would have walked out but unfortunately could not afford to do this. We were a party of four in 2 rooms and not one of us washed as bathrooms were disgusting. Would tell people to avoid this ‘hotel’ at all costs.

located right next to city centre, bus links frequently
it was disgusting. There was bird feces on the furniture and was generally unhygienic.

It had parking and was only a stopover
It was dog friendly
The guy on reception was friendly
There was a nice little pub across the road - dog friendly clean and food was good
Very out dated - Not clean - alarm went of early morning
Said there was no charge for dogs then charged £20
Although the guy in reception said they will be revamping

Breakfast was passable
Excellent parking space
The bedroom was the worst hotel accomodation I have ever stayed in. The carpet was a disgrace, the grouting in the shower was heavily moulded. The bed was hard and lumpy.
Sound proofing was virtually non existent.
I would like to hope there are better rooms. Others which I saw into seemed more comfortable.
The single accomodation was far from cheap and I cannot express my disappointment strongly enough.

Location convenient for onward journey to Scotland.
Good breakfast
Room nice and quiet
Parking available to front and rear, but not secure but no issue parking two motorbikes, which were well hidden by other vehicles
Pub across the road did decent food. 10min walk to Halfords / B&Q if you need anything
Hotel is tired but perfectly serviceable
Check-in initially asked for booking reference, and then just asked for surname and happily proceeded with that
