Very central location. Close to all amenities and straight across from the station.
As it’s right on the Main Street it’s very noisy but that’s expected and you do get ear plugs provided.

The location of the hotel was good, breakfast was good, although expensive. All the staff were nice.
The original room we were put in was tiny, with sloping ceilings, I almost bumped my head and I'm not the tallest, the tea tray was sparse, with empty sugar sachets in it. The second room was alright, although very dated. There was 4 couples and we all paid different amounts, one couple paid £80 less than I did.

It was close to the station in the middle of town
It has absolutely nothing going for it. Very dated. Poor repair works (e.g. door handle had been replaced but the old site just left exposed: no attempt to cover over holes or repaint. Grouting all over tiles. Carpets with ground in stains. Windows painted over so wouldn’t open. Other windows wouldn’t close. I was moved from a quiet room to one right next to a nightclub which wasn’t properly soundproofed). I asked to be moved & when they couldn’t move me told them I wanted at least a partial refund which they initially agreed to but then said I’d get if I cancelled the second night. Nowhere else for me to go without being assured of a refund.

I liked how close it is from the train station and other facilities or places. I like some of the staff and the fact there's no extra charges. Pretty laid back. The building is equally buetiful and lots of history
I didn't like the contrast from the amazing staff especially the chap that does re actments to the staff in a morning ignore you. All stood round reception desk chatting. Ignorant. I didn't like being encouraged to try breakfast again after my last visit were id been told I was too late but was booked for that time. Then given vegetarian sausage that wasn't. So agreed to give it another go for it too be dry left out for hours then while im sat there a manager comes in and asked how long its been sat there because its dry ect. The lady was lovely but come on. Then while you all stand by the reception in a nearly empty hotel for 2 days there's empty bottles and take away rubbish on your tables outside. Such a simple thing to get of your ass a remove it. Your nice staff deserve some credit by the way

Was ok regarding cereal/drinks but there was no hot cooked food left when I arrived for breakfast.
Signage for the car park would be a huge help for first time visitors.

clean bedding
I booked room for my husband for one night as he had a seven hour return journey to do next day, so he could have a chance to rest/relax and be fresh for next day, on returning home he said he would have had more sleep and been warmer in his car.
No tea/coffee just a single biscoff biscuit.
Cracked bathroom tiles, part of tap missing, shower had seized so could only use bath, bathroom was still dirty from previous guest.
Stained carpets, curtains that left room lit up but at same time are long enough to block the small amount of warmth coming from heater. Flickering light bulb, uncomfortable bed. Sounds from street till early hours of morning his earplugs didn't help as it was just that noisy. Hallway smelt more and more like a pub the closer you get to room 127.
This is more like a room for staff(staff you don't like) than for paying guests.
We have stayed before a couple of times as family live in Carlisle and each time the place has gone down hill won't be staying again.

Ideal hotel for exploring Carlisle area. I came down for a staff party, which was at a local hotel.
County is within walking distance of town centre and amenities, and very close to the railway station.
Staff were pleasant. There's 3 floors with a lift available for access to the upper rooms.
Meals and breakfast are available in the restaurant and bar. Prices are on par with the locale.
A free car park is at the rear of the hotel.
It's an old building, so the floors creak a bit when walking about, may disturb other guests at night.
It's at the top of Botchergate, so can get a bit lively at night over weekends. The hotel do supply ear plugs free though!

The hotel seemed clean enough in the areas that we seen
We were in room 109 , triple bedroom, we were visiting Carlisle as a family with friends , when we got there all we could smell was fish in the corridors coming from the fish and chip shop and then when we went to bed after having a lovely meal and a good night out we went back to our room 109 and it was bouncing with the music from next door , the hotel had left us some ear plugs on the bed with the towels , so we definitely found out why they had left us these , we heard all the noises from outside and next door
