Warm and friendly place to stay and excellent value for money. The breakfast was awesome and freshly cooked.

The owner was lovely and cooks a great breakfast . All staff were super helpful.

It’s an old property and I could hear people walking about in the room above me whenever they were moving around. Some of the decor and carpets are in need of a bit of TLC.

Great price, handy for town, parking, helpfull staff, good facilities.

The breakfast was good, we selected what we wanted from fruit and juice and also from the full english breakfast list. The price was very reasonable and the whole package exceeded our expectations. There was dedicated parking. There is a bus stop right outside the property which we used to avoid parking in town, although we walked back from town in the evening. Plenty of restuarants towrds the town. Thre is a shopping complex with a supermarket accross the road from the property which was handy.

Definitely a excellent find for a very value for money overnight in Carlisle.

Very friendly proprietor. Gluten free catered for breakfast without having to make prior requests. Very good breakfast included in a very good price. The room was very clean, well presented and with excellent extras provisions. Able to leave luggage to collect later in day.

Honestly nothing though the shower could do with a bit more umph (we were in the top room) but was plenty hot enough so not a complaint.

The value for money, being located opposite the pub and not above, the parking and the rooms were perfect for a couple of nights' stay.

central to our needs, looked small from outside but very big rooms inside, warm and inviting. surprisingly quiet considering the pub nxt door and busy main road outside. clean outside to sit with a coffee clean and fresh inside the property smells lovely especially in the morning when you wake up to breakfast being cooked.

A lovely & homely, guest house experience

Lovely hotel which is well located at the far end of the main road so only a short walk to the main shopping area, bars, railway station but far enough away to be away from the noisy locations. Great communication from the owners on the day of arrival and the welcome you receive is so warm and lovely. All of the staff went about their duties with a smile on their face and always spoke as you went by - it's such a little thing that makes such a difference. I have also received a thank you message post stay - something not many hotels will ever offer and another thing that makes the experience so personal. The room was spacious with a very comfy bed and the usual good supply of teas and coffees (plus biscuits). Bathroom was good although the sink could be a little bigger. The shower was a good size to allow you to be able to move around freely however, it did lack a bit of power. I enjoyed a full English breakfast and can only say that this was cooked to perfection with an ideal portion size to set you up for the day.

Sink in bathroom could be bigger as hard to use the taps and shower needs a bit more power but don't let this stop you from booking here. You won't be disappointed if you book.

Right up your doorstep entering Carlisle city

I give a 10/10 for these reasons: There is something special and give the more extra about this place, it’s the owner that owns the place - he literally makes you feel at home even says your name and always ensures you are having a nice stay and if need anything don’t hesitate to contact etc Best thing about the stay is just a walk up along the city centre so you don’t have far to walk to the town Prices were very reasonable for the stay and the breakfast is delicious a lot of choice too which is a bonus! :) Additionally your allowed well behaved dogs here too and that’s high advantage as well (my dog loves the owner - very friendly!) Lastly I liked the little relaxed room next to the breakfast room feel that gives a nice touch and a little homely too :) Ps. This is why everytime I go to Carlisle I choose to stay at this place for this reason and deserves a 10/10, I come here yearly with my friend and dog and will be back again :)

It isn’t a bad thing or a complaint just wish the car park was right next to the hotel especially if you have a lot of luggage to carry but apart from that I will be returning back again no hesitation whatsoever :)

Good quality accommodation, close to town centre, with friendly hosts.

Only a 10 minute walk from station, and easy to find. Nice welcome from the owner and at breakfast. Breakfast was very good and cooked freshly. My single room was adequate and clean for an overnight stay. Overall good value for money. Wil happily return.

Door handle on sliding bathroom door was partially hanging off, but not a major probelm. Bed could have been a bit comfier but I don't sleep well anyway when away from home! Staircase and corridors were creaky and noisy when other guests were moving about.

Ok for a short stay

The host was very friendly and dealt with an initial problem quickly. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked, quality ingredients. Friendly serving staff. The bed was very comfortable, I had 2 great nights’ sleep. There is adequate bedroom storage for a short stay and tea/coffee making facilities are provided. The location is a short walk to the city centre and felt safe as it’s a busy road.

The bathroom was very small (handle on door requires attention) and the only accessible window was in the bathroom, so when the door was closed, the room was in darkness. The sink is so small I had to use a cup to fill the kettle and when the tap was turned in the water gushed over the rim of the sink. Incidentally, this isn’t the room featured in the photos at the time of booking.

Kind people but unpleasant rooms

The kindness of the staff really stood out. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast has a good variety of options and was enjoyable.

We booked three rooms, all of which are in urgent need of renovation. The beds were uncomfortable, the walls looked as though they havent been painted in years and there was a persistent bad smell in the rooms that worsened our allergies and disrupted our sleep(could be the old carpet?). The bathrooms were extremely small - so much that none of us were able to take a proper shower. On of the rooms on the ground floor had a view of the air shaft, which was full of cigarette butts and dirt, making it unpleasant. The price was not even close to "value for money" standards.

Excellent, but I will try and book a room at the back of the Lodge away from the Main Road.

Breakfast and my hosts were excellent as was the condition of my room. I very much look forward to staying there again on next year's annual fishing trip up to the very north of Scotland The only caveat that I have (Not a complaint) is that my room was on the ground floor right next to the front door, the main and very noisy road and the seating area just outside my window, so I did not get much sleep that night. That will NOT stop me booking again next year with my brother rather than on my own only next time I will try and book a room at the BACK of the Lodge. Good luck to all at the Lodge.

Generally a good place for a short stay

Location- a bit too far from centre of Carlisle and in an area that, as a single woman I didn't want to be walking through in the evening to get to a restaurant Breakfasts, very good. Choice of cereals and all cooked really well by attentive and cheerful host Liked the milk and tea in the room, more then normal so you didn't run out! Very quiet too

TV didn't work but I didn't tell them it wasn't working. If I had I am sure they would have fixed it The mattress was the worst bit. It sloped on one side so you constantly felt as if you were about to roll off. Need a new one

Great Little B&B

Lovely clean rooms, with very nice towels. The property was less than 10 minutes from the centre of Carlisle so was excellent for walking into town to meet friends. Ishwar, the host, was super helpful with getting the car parking sorted and was friendly everytime I saw him. Breakfast was cooked to order and was lovely.

I stayed during the middle of a heatwave and even though the windows were open on my arrival the room did get very hot. Whilst this is not Ishwar's fault at all, I feel like putting a little fan in the room would have made a big difference.

Breakfast was great, full English but not greasy. Very tasty. Host obviously knew the value of repeat custom, he was always as helpful as possible. I suspect this place gets a lot of repeat custom.

It is excellent value for money, and the shower in the room was big enough for me, but a much larger person would struggle. However, there is a larger communal shower on the same floor.

Ishwar couldn't do enough for me. After being held up on my journey by motorway closure and congestion. Very, very comfortable accommodation. Beautiful freshly cooked poached eggs. Lovely coffee. Excellent place to stay.

Excellent and friendly establishment

The host was very polite, friendly and helpful. The location is close to an Asda supermarket, and there is also a great pub next door, which served excellent food, especially the Cumberland Sausage. They also let us use their car park overnight provided we ate and drank there. The Asda car park has a couple of fairly fast electric car charging stations, which was ideal for us. We recommend the full English breakfast, it was superb, .
