Lovely stay - clean, welcoming, and perfect for a travel break

The house was spotless and well maintained. It was perfect for relaxing after a long journey. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, and the English breakfast was very good. The host was kind and welcoming. This stay inspired us to choose guest houses more often to support local businesses. We would happily recommend Abbey Guest House for a cosy and friendly stay.

This is my 5th stay. Each time Kelly n her husband make u so welcome. Love the rooms with ensuite bathroom. Fab breakfast any time I'm travelling to Carlisle its my first choicr

Fabulous and welcoming.

Super friendly staff as soon as I checked in, and that carried out throughout my stay. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice to choose from the night before. One of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a hotel room. Can’t fault my stay.

A comfortable home from home with excellent service and food.

Everything - we really liked the owners, who were friendly and approachable, helpful and thorough. Their attention to detail was great, and we really loved the little signs to improve wellbeing and atmosphere that were dotted about.

Nothing at all. The house is on a busy road but you would never know it once you are inside the building, which is very solid. This might have detracted from the stay but it didn't at all.

Homely atmosphere. On a cold night the house was cosy warm. Room although small had a cosy feel to it, and attention to detail was welcome. Lovely staff.

The lady that ran Abbey Court was really welcoming and helpful, the bedroom was lovely, there were flannels in the ensuite which was great and the morning breakfast was fantastic! All in all a great experience. Highly recommended!!

Perfect stay - secure, comfortable, quiet - fantastic breakfast, too.

We were delighted! The two-room suite in which we stayed was stylish, spotlessly clean, well-appointed, and quiet. We were happy and comfortable. Kelly's guesthouse is just a 10 min walk from the station and very close to the University of Cumbria's campus (our reason for visiting). She took such good care of us - everything worked as it should and she's such a good host. We will certainly be back - and highly recommend.

Kelly was a wonderful host and was more than happy to assist with a date change at short notice. The breakfast set me up for the whole day.

No pressure in shower at all Shower temp either freezing or scalding Bathroom tap really noisy Absolute treat that Netflix was logged in in the lounge but it wasn't in the bedroom

Warm welcome, comfy room, delicious food.

On arrival we were given time to go to our room first. We were given the registration form as well as a breakfast menu to complete in our room. The menu enabled us to choose our food as well as the time we would like to eat our breakfast. Excellent choice of food. Additional choice; Room Service, Take-away Breakfast or Eat in the breakfast room. We thought that was a very thoughtful option. We had been warmly welcomed and by being given time to settle in first, before making the payment was also a good idea, ( it gave you time to view the room and ensure we liked it). The room was very clean, comfortable and nicely presented. Breakfast was delicious, hassle free. The hosts were great, attention to detail but also very easy going. Definately recommend, Abbey Court Guest House , we enjoyed our time spent there.

Fabulous experience.

I couldn’t fault this property, we arrived early, they let us leave our bags so we could go shopping in Carlisle. When we arrived to check in, they said we could have an upgrade, I had already upgraded, but this room was stunning, so much so that we settled in on the sofa, watched the big screen tv, had a bath in large bath and had an early night. Nearly slept in for breakfast, glad we didn’t, very tasty. Thanks and sure we will be back next time we are in Carlisle.

This Guest House is incredible value for money and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This place is an absolute Gem, I was blown away with how great it was and the Land Lady was great. I felt terrible having paid so little for such a great place. This was a last minute booking and I didn't realise when I booked it that Breakfast was included. The Breakfast was better than most expensive hotels I've stayed at.

The building smelt like oil/fat all throughout the corridors (arrived at 5PMish) and even in our room due to bedroom doors being left open for those rooms that are clean and ready to be used by guests. It was pretty bad. We had to go to Asda to get freebreeze for our room as we couldn’t stand the smell. I highly suggest keeping your guest room doors shut and letting guests open them on arrival. This is the one and only negative. Everything else was fab and we would stay again, most importantly.

Comfy guesthouse 10 minutes from station

It is lovely to come across a traditional guesthouse in this age of the airbnb. Abbey Guest House is about 10 minutes walk from the station. Though on a main road the rooms at the back are quiet. Staff are very polite, the room was spotless and comfortable. There was even a bath. Excellent bacon buttie for breakfast which they let me take away.

The area is a bit grungy, but people shouldn't be put off. An extra towel rail in the shower-room (Room 12) wouldn't go amiss. But these are minor points.

Quick visit to Carlisle

The guesthouse was 9 minutes walk from train station, close the pubs & the town centre, our room was very spacious & cosy, bathroom had a big walk in shower & very modern. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. The host Dave recommend us to visit the pub across the road St Nicholas Arms, the food was really good. Overall definitely recommend to family & friends,

A fab B&B a short walk from the centre of Carlisle

It was a fantastic period home with great decor, quiet surroundings, and comfortable clean rooms. It was ideal for my stay having everything I needed and only a short walk from some excellent bars and restaurants. The owner was friendly and helpful, and while I didn't have the breakfast it smelled amazing.

This is the easily the most beautiful guest house I've ever stayed in. Lovely decor, very modern, well looked after and really friendly hosts. The breakfast was also top class!!!

Fantastic, highly recommended. Breakfast options are wide and homemade. The host is kind, professional and willing to help. The room is clean, well decorated and very comfortable. They supported me to get a taxi without pre-booking in peak time in the morning. The location is 10 min walking distance to the train station.
