The staff are very helpful and a good location when I work in Carlisle.
The price is good but other locations are cheaper.

Free pool table. Free car park behind the premises.
Bar shut early. Cold in the bar.

Couldn't sit square on toilet as not enough room for legs - then toilet seat kept sliding off. Very noisy from music from bar downstairs both nights. Being woken up at 1.30 am by someone knocking twice within space of half an hour on all the doors in the corridor, presumably having forgotten which room she was in - then hearing loud arguing upstairs. Sheets not very clean. Grubby carpet.

EXCELLENT VALUE. Please note, my ratings are evaluated in relation to the incredibly reasonable cost of accommodation, and as such my expectations were tempered. The furnishings were sparse, but the bed was comfy, the room was quiet, there was hot water and good pressure in a clean shower, TV worked and I even had a kettle with tea, coffee and milk....that was all I needed. Hotel was secure, and central with 3 takeaways and a convenience shop across the road. Free WiFi but I used my own so cannot comment. Parking is in a car park behind the hotel which posted charges and warnings of fines, but apparently run by the owner, or in conjunction with the owner, and fees were waived. 5 minute drive off the M6: perfect for an overnight pitstop. Fabulous value, would stay again.

The fact it's filthy just because the advert says not five star doesn't mean it can be dirty and unkept, the room I was in the window was barely attached to the building winter breeze coming in between the frame and the wall,

Booked for operatives working away. The only good thing was that they only stayed 20 minutes as it was so bad. It was dirty and smelled of urine. 1 week later we have been offered a 20% refund. Disgraceful
Hadn't been cleaned, toilet had been used and not flushed, mould in shower and on walls, Carpets threadbare and dirty, strong smell of urine permeated the whole place. The picture on Booking.com bears no resemblance to the property

Very basic above a noisy pub. Slamming doors. Nothing was clean except the bedding. The duvet was stained where it was hanging out. Shower was dirty. Was there blood stains on the carpet, i didn't look too closely to find out, hopefully it was coffee.

Excellent location, lady on reception was friendly and helpful.
Bed was comfortable, decent size room
Very noisy from pub below until 1am, but it's made quite clear that's the case.
Place really needs a refurb but it's a cheap as chips night in a city location
No parking , advertised as free parking available..no longer the case

I was looking for a cheaper place just to spend one night, but I regretted my decision as soon as I stepped in. The corridor, room, and bathroom all smelled unpleasant. The bathroom was extremely dirty, or at least had stains that made it look very unclean. I understand that we can’t expect many luxuries when choosing a budget option, but there should still be a minimum standard of cleanliness and hygiene.

the room as clean neat and tidy with a good shower and toilet facilities
the only complaint I have is the pillows on the bed could be doing with getting replaced there was nothing to them I would say they were over 10 years old very flat

Filthy, stinks, stains on carpet, bed terrible, noises, staff not helpful. I got bitten by bed bugs which then became infected, requested refund which never came. Don’t know what else to say. Health hazard.

Breakfast not available to me as I was told the hotel could not offer a slightly earlier time (15 minutes before normal opening) to enable sufficient time to reach train station for pre-booked onward travel. (This response belongs in "Did not like") My reservation price was inclusive of breakfast.
Also, and more importantly I did not like inflexible and unhelpful attitude of duty manager at checkin concerning a minor technical problem with card used for payment on arrival. Could have exercised discretion but chose to keep me waiting at reception nearly 90 minutes while attempting contact with senior colleague. It was late evening, I was extremely tired and am classified elderly and frail. Duty manager did not even offer me cup of tea while waiting. Eventually I had to ask waiter who in contrast was very pleasant and helpful. He was obviously quite embarrassed by attitude of duty manager. He was apparently only other member of staff on duty and hotel very quiet during all this time .
What I DID LIKE was cleanliness and comfort of the hotel, and on this occasion the helpful attitude of the waiter. I have stayed here many times in the past.
I await a response to these matters. Please confirm referral to avoid escalation.

There was no soap in the shower or to wash hands, the toilet barely flushed, the walls had suspicious stains on it. There was no light shade, the gutters leaked creating lots of noise. The room I initially stayed in had no functioning TV and horrific noise from the pub downstairs.

Price and location was good beds were comfy plenty of tea and coffee hanger and drawers for clothes and a mirror in the room . Shared bathroom was fine
Was a little dirty and no tv in room as suggested but didn’t really bother me curtains would have been better than a blind but it was cheap and a place to rest my head
