Wonderful family owned and run hotel in a fabulous part of the world

It was fabulous from the moment we checked in and were kindly gifted a free upgrade! We found the hotel generally so wonderful, as well as the staff. Everyone was kind and helpful. We enjoyed the facilities onsite as well as the hotel bar that had such delicious wine options. We booked the rate inclusive of breakfast and dinner and the food was amazing. The hotel was conveniently located and had stunning views everywhere you looked! Highly recommend travelling in October, the weather was lovely for hiking.

Couldn’t beat the location

The location was great, cable carts for both Seceda and Alpe Di Sussi were walkable (~5mins). The rooms are cosy and clean, and the spa facilities are great. We also didn’t realise that afternoon snacks were included which was a great bonus.

Only satellite tv available in the rooms, which as an English speaker made the evenings a little dull when you just want to relax in your room before bed. It would be great if the hotel could offer streaming services (Netflix, Disney etc.)

We had a very pleasant and unforgettable stay in Ortisei!

We selected this hotel knowing that it would be a special place for us to stay in Ortisei! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were right! The Angelo Engel is a wonderful hotel with all the essential amenities you need to make your stay unforgettable! Our junior suite was super spacious, and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! Location was ideal to explore Ortisei’s many points of interests and beyond! We recommend this hotel without reservations and would definitely stay here again.

Despite knowing ahead of time that there would be no air conditioning, the room was somewhat warm during the daytime. However it cooled in the evenings with the windows open enjoying the fresh mountain air.

Fantastic place to stay. Location was flawless, staff were perfect, facilities were immaculate. I have never stayed in the same hotel twice before, but I will be going back

When staying here, I would recommend not eating at the hotel every night. This is NOT a criticism of the food they serve here, as it is lovely, but the food in Ortisei is just as good so make sure you vary it up

We would come back as often as possible. 10/10

This was one of our best stays ever. We were a young people and the youngest people around but we felt very at home. Everything is top notch and the hotel is like a family. We got to know every single person there, including the staff, the owners and all the guests They organise hikes everyday, trails that you wouldn’t find yourself. Also breakfast hikes, and even did a bbq for all the guests. Some of the best food we had were on these organised events

There’s nothing not to like with a gym, solarium, pool, indoor and outdoor sauna, views of the mountains, afternoon snacks every evening, and bunch of events. Only thing to note, there is no AC, which makes sense given the altitude but the world is definitely getting hotter..

Beautiful hotel and fabulous location with the perfect backdrop. All the staff were fabulous and very attentive. We could not fault the service(s) provided by this hotel. In particular we enjoyed spending time with the hotel’s personal hiking guide George (no additional cost), who was fabulous. Classy, elegant and cozy family hotel. We loved the welcoming atmosphere, amazing dinners, our spacious and comfortable room with a beautiful view, very kind staff, quiet and relaxing spa. It’s an idyllic place with a soul, everything is made with great attention to details and care. We’d love to come back one day.

Just as a suggestion - would be nice to have tea amenities in all rooms, but we really enjoyed beautifully served tea in a bar area.

A few changes would make this hotel a true gem.

Clean, bright and airy hotel with an excellent location in the centre of town. Superb good sized swimming pool which was heated, that made all the difference for us. Efficient and mostly friendly staff who worked hard. Nice dinning room. We ate at the hotel for seven nights and overall the food was very good although some of the main courses were a little bland and the starter buffet was average. Overall a most enjoyable stay.

The hotel is not a member of the Val Gardena Active Program, so if you are a non skier and want to try a cookery class, E-Bike ride, guided snowshoe walk, art and crafts events etc etc, then it's going to cost you a lot of money. We were surprised by that. Perhaps a better salad buffet with the evening meal.

This hotel was in a beautiful location with great views on both the front and back side of the hotel. The bar/snack area was nice as well as the outdoor lounge areas. The pool and sauna/relax space is amazing, perfect after a day of hiking!

I personally found the bed to be not so comfortable because it was a little firm for my liking.

Angelo Engel hotel is absolutely amazing. From the comfort of the rooms to the excellent pool (indoor and outdoor), from the variety of options both in breakfast and dinner and also the quality of the food to the very professional and warm staff, everything was excellent. If you are thinking about staying in this hotel, do not think twice and book it!

Beautiful Hotel and Stay

1) The HOTEL is beautiful. Very clean, beautiful garden and pools. We were stunned at how lovely the place was, better than pics. Lots of seating in the garden/outdoor bar/pool loungers. Perfect for a warm sunny day. Their spa and heated pool, looked great though we didn't use any. 2) STAFF was very good. Specifically Fabiano/Fabrizio, I suck at names :(, the young man we met every day at the restaurant, and another young lady (again my brain doesn't rem her name), were so charming. Ricardo at reception and the lady we met at check out were both good too. There was one older blonde-haired lady in the restaurant who was a bit rude once but whatever. The young staff was so good. 3) RESTAURANT - Classy place where people dress up a bit for dinner. We didn't. The breakfast was great, with good variety but no eggs made to order or fresh toast (they didn't have a toaster which was a first for me). They do have the packaged rusk/toast thing so I guess it's a cultural thing. A nice variety of bread and scrambled eggs made it up for me. Good fruit too. The dinners were fantastic. They have a set menu with some options. We ate there all 3 nights and loved it. Service again faultless. Do try some of the Sudtirolean wine they have. 4) ROOM - we had the base room and it was a bit cramped and the bath was tight too. It had a lovely balcony towards the back of the hotel, still had a great view of the mountains. I guess go for the next level room if you like a bit of room and it's in your budget. Since we were going to spend most of our day hiking we didn't mind it. Did feel a bit cramped when we got back in the evenings. Overall, it's a beautiful place with excellent service. You will enjoy your stay here as we did. P.S. LOVED the homemade apricot jam they gifted us at checkout! P.P.S. They have free parking.

1) No Toaster. Who doesn't like hot toast with butter? Please get one. 2) Size of basic room. Some more space would make me feel better about spending 470 Euros per night.
