Fantastic beach location.

The location was fantastic, with the beach and the Moonstone Beach Board walk just adjacent to the Inn. The boardwalk enabled you to walk along the coast and eventually access the nearby town of Cambria. The breakfast delivery in the basket was also a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

It’s a huge shame the pool wasn’t open as this was one of the main reasons we booked this Inn over some of the others. This wasn’t advertised on Booking.com, although once we were staying at the Sea Otter Inn, we saw this note on their website.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Otter Inn.

The room was clean and attractive. There was a fireplace in the room and fire pits outside. The cute picnic basket for breakfast was a nice touch.

The coffee provided was instant. The shower drain was slow.

Beds were comfy…… New shower, enclosure and location was great. And it was nice and clean and price was right.

A silly little thing I didn’t like was that you have to reach way into the shower to turn it on in the morning and you get wet, but that is minor

Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We have been going for over 40+ years to this hotel. We have witnessed many renovations and staff changes throughout the years. Sometimes, we reserve with the hotel directly, and sometimes we use a third party. We have always been treated the same. This recent visit, we were informed that because we used a third party to book, the regular morning breakfast was not included, but we could pay extra. It would have been nice for a heads up from the third party booking company. Thankfully we always take snacks, so we were not inconvenienced. Another reason for the low rating, my 88 year old mother looks forward to using the jacuzzi during our stay. We were not notified of the pool area closure until we got there. The notice from the health department looked like it had been up more than just a day or 2, so again, a "heads up" from the motel would have been nice (and yes they communicate through the third party). The staff continues to be pleasant, the rooms continue to be clean, and you cannot beat the location for taking walks on the beach boardwalk!

Lovely roadside motel great for stop over on travels.

Amazing location and comfortable beds. Lovely touch to have picnic basket breakfast (additional charge) but we could take this across the road and sit watching sea otters playing in the waves in the morning sun. Perfect one night stop over on our Big Sur travels.

Nothing much. Wendy the manager is lovely but still didn’t solve the problem with Booking.com.

I was booked for a beachfront room and paid approx $375. Drove five hours to find out I Was switched given an excuse that they overbooked and placed me in a room in the back of the property with windows facing the highway to listen to traffic all night and right beside the noisy pool. Hotel blames it on the third-party. No resolution. No discount. Nothing but a free cookie. And Extended my check out from 11am to Noon. Was then locked out of the room at 11:05 in wet shorts , barefoot coming from the pool and had to walk across the hot pavement parking lot to have the front desk extend the automatic combination lock to get it. To walk back across the hot pavement barefoot. Front desk didn’t even offer to open the room and had no clue about the situation and should have extended it the night before or the very least in the morning. Night manager Wendy was truly lovely and tried. But no follow thru to resolve the issue with Booking.com or discount the room whatsoever.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit someday!

I love the decor of the rooms, the location on the beach, even the tree out front! The breakfast basket is the nicest touch. On our first morning there we had to be out of the room early and they made sure our breakfast arrived early! We enjoyed our private patio and also some time at the fire pit. We came all the way from Indiana for our second stay there and look to return again someday!

My only small complaint is that the floors could have been a bit cleaner. My bare feet got pretty dirty walking around the room in a short amount of time. ☹️

All in all Sea Otter inn was close to everything 😊

It was close to the Boardwalk and Beach and Moonstone Bar and Grill.

Cambria, a perfect stop at the end of a long road trip.

We were happy with our room overall cleanliness and furnishings, the bed seemed tired and old and needed to be replaced. Otherwise we were happy with our accommodation. We had stayed at the Sea Otter several years ago.

Perfect for an overnight stay near PCH

Some lovely walks right on the doorstep along the boardwalk by the Pacific. Wildlife and local flora and fauna much in evidence. A warm welcome, lovely room and a basket with a small, nutritious breakfast hung outside our door in the morning.

The ocean walkway is fabulous, the rooms are clean and cozy, fabulous patio with view of ocean, cookies were great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating!!

We love Sea Otter Inn and have stayed several times in the last 3-4 yrs. We will be returning again. My only less than fabulous rating would be that the property is beginning to show wear and tear, dry rot in window boxes, paint on vanity needs refurbish, and our window would not latch closed. In my opinion, wear and tear is unavoidable for the most part with location directly on the ocean so this would not prevent us from staying again, just something to keep an eye on.

It was nice but the whole "miscommunication" think really annoyed me.

It's one of my favorite places to stay, but maybe not at this hotel.

A day before check-in I was sent an email saying that I could upgrade to an ocean view room. I was in the area so I stopped in and the clerk told me that the hotel had not sent the message and that there were no upgrades available. She was a little rude about it, basically acting like I had made the whole thing up. You need to improve communication with the "parent" company and quit sending these incaccurate emails that the actual hotel does not know about. I will not use "booking.com" for this hotel again.

We have stayed here several times very comfortable very nice. It has always came with breakfast. Close to the beach, comfortable beds.

I was told that I was not eligible to get the breakfast that I was always eligible to get before because I booked through booking. If I wanted it, I would have to pay $20. I took a snap of the booking information on the site that stated that breakfast was included and they went ahead and gave me breakfast, but it said that next time I would have to book strictly through them if I wanted breakfast

I love everything about this place, from its walkability to its close proximity to the ocean. The rooms are lovely and the fireplace is a nice addition, especially during the winters when I visit. The Ocean View King rooms are 100% the place to be. I haven’t ever been able to use the patio the two times I’ve stayed here due to the weather, but it’s been nice to be able to have the screen door closed while we listen to the rain and the ocean waves.
