Sea Otter Inn

The room was clean and attractive. There was a fireplace in the room and fire pits outside. The cute picnic basket for breakfast was a nice touch.

The coffee provided was instant. The shower drain was slow.

Beds were comfy…… New shower, enclosure and location was great. And it was nice and clean and price was right.

A silly little thing I didn’t like was that you have to reach way into the shower to turn it on in the morning and you get wet, but that is minor

We have been going for over 40+ years to this hotel. We have witnessed many renovations and staff changes throughout the years. Sometimes, we reserve with the hotel directly, and sometimes we use a third party. We have always been treated the same. This recent visit, we were informed that because we used a third party to book, the regular morning breakfast was not included, but we could pay extra. It would have been nice for a heads up from the third party booking company. Thankfully we always take snacks, so we were not inconvenienced. Another reason for the low rating, my 88 year old mother looks forward to using the jacuzzi during our stay. We were not notified of the pool area closure until we got there. The notice from the health department looked like it had been up more than just a day or 2, so again, a "heads up" from the motel would have been nice (and yes they communicate through the third party). The staff continues to be pleasant, the rooms continue to be clean, and you cannot beat the location for taking walks on the beach boardwalk!

Amazing location and comfortable beds. Lovely touch to have picnic basket breakfast (additional charge) but we could take this across the road and sit watching sea otters playing in the waves in the morning sun. Perfect one night stop over on our Big Sur travels.

The rooms are clean. The beds are comfortable. It’s located across from the walking path.Check in was quick and easy. They are dog friendly.

It would be nice if they had a tub mat in the shower.

The property was cozy and comfortable. Perfect for what we needed on our honeymoon. Free cookies everyday were amazing and the fire pits were awesome!

We wish the bathrooms had cabinets to keep our stuff in.

Nothing much. Wendy the manager is lovely but still didn’t solve the problem with Booking.com.

I was booked for a beachfront room and paid approx $375. Drove five hours to find out I Was switched given an excuse that they overbooked and placed me in a room in the back of the property with windows facing the highway to listen to traffic all night and right beside the noisy pool. Hotel blames it on the third-party. No resolution. No discount. Nothing but a free cookie. And Extended my check out from 11am to Noon. Was then locked out of the room at 11:05 in wet shorts , barefoot coming from the pool and had to walk across the hot pavement parking lot to have the front desk extend the automatic combination lock to get it. To walk back across the hot pavement barefoot. Front desk didn’t even offer to open the room and had no clue about the situation and should have extended it the night before or the very least in the morning. Night manager Wendy was truly lovely and tried. But no follow thru to resolve the issue with Booking.com or discount the room whatsoever.
