Everything, staff
Extra guarantee of 200 dollars that we don’t know anything about during booking. They even deducted more!

During winter, the heating system isn't efficient enough and we were freezing.

No lights on the ceiling so the room was never lightened well.
The coffee machine in the lobby was always "out of order"

The location was great. The staff greeted us upon entry every time and the facilities were great. The complementary coffee everyday was great.
Very affordable
Nothing to fault

Comfortable, clean rooms. Staff is friendly and helpful and a decent location.
Parking (valet or self park) is very expensive, but reflects the price of Parking in the whole city.

Spacious rooms, central location. Staff kept my luggage on check-out which I appreciated.
Unfortunately I was initially charged for the full amount on arrival when I had already paid for the room prior to arrival.
The wifi in the hotel was not great.

The rooms were clean and the staff was very pleasant.
They overbooked us so I only had 2 beds instead of the 3 I booked. I choose this hotel specifically for the 2 bed suite with fold out couch so we would have 3 beds. My son had to sleep on the floor. The only compensation I was offered was free parking ($65 value.) For the amount I spent on this hotel when I could have chosen another with only 2 beds, I could have paid a lot less.

Fabulous view and a big comfortable room with all the facilities.
Very helpful staff when my friend needed to find medical facilities nearby
Had a lovely swimming pool and gym - wasn't expecting that
It wasn't what I'd call value for money, but it was downtown Chicago

The location is great but it was the worst experience at this hotel. Only super hot water from sink when wash hands, called front desk and being told to call back tomorrow morning and hang up, huge cockroach on toilet paper and TV did not work untill technician came to fix.
Everything, I just could not believe what we had during our stay ( 2 nights ).
The worst place ever.

All staff were very helpful and friendly.
The restaurant was closed supposedly for renovations and the 2 computer stations were non functioning. If you're without a car the location was not very convenient.

Having to pay the whole bill up front and going negative in my bank account! I did not expect that! The guy at the counter argued with me and when I told him we would not be back again he said okay!

It was centrally located. Valet parking very fast.
Tub was clogged. Won't drain. View was meh. Should have been warned. There is a whole beautiful city on the other side. No free coffee. No breakfast even continental on site.

Did not have breakfast. The location is great. Walking distance to lots of attractions. Comfortable beds!
We stayed in a suite. The extra room was nice but the room with the double beds was very tight. There is no separation between the sink/counter area and the sleeping space which felt odd. If you sat in the one bed and bathroom door was open you are looking at the toilet. I’m a small person and getting in and out of the bathroom is very tight. Also prepare for a lot of outside noise such as firetrucks. I am so glad I brought earplugs. Even on 11th floor it was a problem! Coffee in the lobby is Starbucks so about $5-6 each morning for a cup of coffee!

The location was near a decent number of walkable restaurants.
Unfortunately, Courtyard Chicago Downtown/River North did not deliver on the brand’s promise during my stay. While the location is convenient and the space itself has the potential to feel inviting, my experience was marked by poor customer service and a lack of flexibility. After arriving late due to a delayed flight, I was met with an unwelcoming attitude from the front desk and was not given the room I had reserved—a King bed with a sofa mattress. This added unnecessary stress and did not reflect the empowering, guest-centered experience Courtyard aims to provide. The only moment that aligned with Courtyard’s values came at checkout, when two kind staff members—one at the front desk and another who helped with my bags—offered the type of service I had expected all along.

Selling coffee I tread of having it for the guests. Especially since the restaurant was closed.
Valet expecting a tip instead letting me decide if I wanted to give one.

The pool was not well attended. So I did not use it. My husband did use the sauna and steam room.

Location in downtown Chicago.
Room was not prepared for our stay.
TV room number was not configured.
Often experiencing internet connection issues.
No toiletries/ complimentary water given. We had to buy water from their in-house store and we had to request for toiletries (twice).

Hotel is modern and has well equipment amenities. Staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our stay.
No complaints at all.
8.0 / 10.0
Good location and view of buildings was nice too. The size of the room was also ample for two people.
The design of the bathroom area was a bit weird. There is no light switch in the shower/toilet area. Microwaving anything was annoying because there was a wood piece put in there that would not let you swing the microwave door to its full length.

The hotel was near shops, architectures, enjoyed walking along clean streets.
The parking fee of $65/day is NOT WORTH using this hotel. They should include the hotel parking fees in their website to protect visitors from the SHOCK of knowing the fees once they check in. We were really disappointed. Never going there again

The room was quite large and felt like it was maintained very well. The beds were comfortable and the pull out bed for our third person was a very good size. Lots of storage options around the room, and the housekeeping was thorough and considerate, coming back later if we were still in the room.

I love that the location was near everything. It was central and accessible. The room was very clean and comfy!
There was genuinely nothing that I "didn't" like. Some nights it was noisy but that's not the hotel's fault.
9.0 / 10.0
The staff was amazing! The location was prime for walking around, exploring and catching the L-train. The staff goes above and beyond to assist and give you recommendations during your stay.
Let's keep it real though, it is Chicago downtown which stays lively at all hours, so expect noise throughout the night if you're on the lower floors. The hotel provides you with ear plugs to help you block out the city night life. There are unhoused individuals all around asking for spare change but that's only once you start exploring outside the hotel vicinity. There is nothing the hotel can do about that so don't let it deter you from giving this hotel a chance.
3.0 / 10.0
Location is really good, ideal for tourism as you have everything in walking distance. The staff was kind.
The service was really bad. On our first night, AC was not working properly (45 degrees F and the AC was turned on freezing the room). We had to wait 1 hour until someone fixed it. We had no shampoo, and the cleaning services decided not to clean our room the following day. The restaurant to have breakfast / dinner was closed the weekend I went, so no breakfast offered.. I have no problem on having a "lean" experience, but since this hotel rate is high, services were not aligned with expectations.

Newly renovated, great location
The breakfast was a disaster. They only have 6 tables and it’s a long wait for a la carte breakfast. They said it’s until 11am but closed the kitchen at 10am. They also said that since we booked through Booking.com even though we booked it with breakfast included for two people, it’s only included for one person. I ordered the brioche breakfast sandwich which came out on toast.
