    Parking was tough
The room was spacious and comfortable. The house was well kept. Bed was comfortable and the night was quiet. I actually left my dirty shirt on the floor when we left. I called when I realized and when I came to pick it up, they had also washed it for me. That was a nice perk. The staff was friendly and breakfast was delicious. Check in and out was smooth
The parking. The street no longer has parking on it. The parking lot at the back of the house is tight. I drive a pickup truck and it was a challenge to get into a spot without blocking other vehicles in. We arrived when it was dark already, which made it more challenging. I dont remember hearing about this before we arrived, but our welcome letter mentioned it. Also, the city had closed the road in front of the house for some construction. One direction is completely blocked off, the other says local traffic only. They are also storing their machines on the road. Arriving was difficult. None of this is really the fault of the bed and breakfast, but it definitely made our arrival off putting

A very pleasant relaxing two night stay in the heart of James Bay.
Breakfast …. Very hearty and made to order. We were trying to catch the ferry and the chef accommodated our time frame, and we were able to get to the ferry terminal with time to spare. The mini kitchen on the ground floor was adequate for making tea. Hostess and staff were very friendly and warm. Our room was situated right next to the staircase, and we can hear guests coming and going, but it quieted prettty quick. The living room that is available to all guests was very nice, although a bit dark to read in. The whole B&B was very clean, spotless!!
    Nothing.

    A gem near the harbor
This is a charming place to stay, and a great value! It's only a couple of blocks from Parliament and the harbor. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, with multiple options to choose from. Our room was comfortable, clean, and had nice little touches for the holiday season. The staff were very friendly, as well.
I really don't think there was anything that I didn’t like. I highly recommend Marketta's!

We really enjoyed staying at Marketas with the friendly staff and the European feel.
This is boutique and has an old world feel which was lovely. The breakfast was wonderful. I enjoyed the fireplace and the jacuzzi as well.
The steps are tough for those with limited mobility.

Comfy and relaxed. Like staying at your favorite aunties or an old friends historic house.
We booked a few nights at this very well priced Edwardian era B&B home in James Bay for several reasons. We had arrived in Victoria on public transit and needed to be walking distance from places to visit. Location is only a few minutes walk from the harbor and downtown attractions and is on a safe quiet tree lined street. We enjoy staying in more esoteric accommodation and the quaint old James Bay houses are disappearing quickly. Enjoy them while you can. We’ll all be stuck in overpriced sterile chain hotels pretty soon. Marketas home hasn’t been altered too much from the original layout so it feels worlds away from the usual modern hotels. The B&B was clean, friendly and cozy, with interesting original art. We chose a lighter continental breakfast but heavier options are available. Marketa has a little snug area for you to make a cup of tea or coffee or heat something in the microwave. We had a shared bathroom which was clean with lots of hot water and towels and products supplied. Wifi was good. It was pouring like crazy but we were warm with extra quilts. Maybe bring a raincoat and dry footwear when you come to Victoria in winter. I grade my stays by how I feel by the time I leave and if I would return. Sometimes a pricey multi star hotel leaves you feeling drained and grouchy even if the amenities are better. You can’t beat a good homestay experience with a thoughtful host when you’re travelling.
    No complaints at all.

A charming stay in a beautifully styled historic home with a great location and overall comfortable
The property had a beautiful historic character with a very charming and cozy atmosphere. The location was excellent and made it easy to explore the city on foot. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated.
there were some noises, especially at night, which affected sleep a bit.
