Overall happy - especially location

Great location in English Bay, near restaurants, shops, coffee, supermarket, beach, photo opportunities. From the Sands, we walked to Granville Market and rented bikes just over the road to explore Stanley Park and False Creek. We even walked from The Sands to Gastown. This place was more affordable than many other downtown Vancouver hotels

Power went off two mornings - the lady at reception said it was a recurring problem with an overloaded fuse. She could have been a bit more apologetic. Our room got a moderate amount of road noise on weekend evenings

Bad Reception service

Bed is comfortable, overall clean, local is good.

The two reception staff on site on September 27 night are really cold and rude. When we request normal things, they show clearly inpatient and cold attitude and no welcome at all.

The cramped parking where a bellhop told me to park and then I get a warning telling me not to park where I was told to because I was in a space reserved for smaller cars but every car in the lower level was a full sized SUV.

It was close to everything, clean, and the bathroom was modern

I don’t know if this is common in all Canadian hotels but only had one loud window air conditioner, no kettle (had to use coffee machine for a cup of tea), no plates or cutlery to have a bowl of cereal or make a sandwich but was given some from a nice lady in the restaurant downstairs

Big Dissapointment!

There were ants in the room, ants in the sink, crawling on the bathroom floor, and on the desk. The room was dark, and the air conditioner smelled, and there was mold inside the air conditioner. When this was mentioned to the front desk they did not seem to care.

The location was amazing. We could walk everywhere. The area is safe. The ocean is just a short walk to the end of the block

The hallways smell like cigarette smoke. Having said that, the rooms did not. The lobby is not inviting at all and the entrance is confusing. We found the front end staff to not really know what they were doing. The told us we did not have a reservation, when in fact we booked & paid months ago. They found it eventually. They told us one day 1 that our breakfast was included. The second day, they said it was not and we needed to pay. They were short with us, almost like we were interrupting their personal conversations.

Location was amazing. Right on the beach with plenty nice restaurant and bar options nearby.

The small room was a sauna - so hot. The AC was also very old and loud. Not a great combo. The parking garage was right outside our window and also really loud. We barely slept.

The elevator shaft being right next to the bed. The air conditioner that sounded like a jet engine, not great when my partner needs it on. Very noisy when facing the car park, with a garbage truck... sometimes. Too much light in the morning, not great when travelling and need a sleep in. Not a big issue, but no bedside table on one side of the bed.

Nice hotel with wonderful location, close to beach.

The location was perfect. So close to the beach and many other attractions. The staff was very helpful when we arrived many hours before checkin. They held all of our bags and allowed early check in for 1 or 3 rooms which was helpful for my elderly parents.

I saw a mouse in my hotel room, staff promised compensation but later denied it.

The bed was comfortable and staff polite, location not bad either, but that doesn’t matter when rodents are present in guest rooms and the hotel fails to respond meaningfully.

I saw multiple mice in my hotel room during the night, and was able to record them on video because they kept coming and going freely. Since my child was asleep and had a competition the next day, switching rooms wasn’t an option. I reported the issue first thing in the morning, and was told compensation would follow—but that was later denied. More concerningly, parts of the bed frame were visibly chewed, with multiple gnawed sections clearly not caused in a single night. It’s hard to imagine anyone vacuuming the room without noticing it. Honestly, this room should never have been rented out in that condition. What’s worse is that this is not an isolated case—several other reviews mention rodent sightings, suggesting a serious, ongoing hygiene problem. Even during breakfast, I found myself worrying about cleanliness. The hotel stopped replying to my emails, claiming the issue was my fault for not reporting it during the night. I would absolutely not stay here again.

Friendly and efficient staff, comfortable bed, good sized room, great restaurant and bar area, top location.

Like an old coat, it's worn in areas but still comfortable with a lot of wear left. If I were to return to Vancouver I would definitely choose to stay here.

Enjoyable and would definitely stay here again.

4th floor room facing the street was very acceptable, with large comfy bed and more than adequate shower and bathroom. Had a small window that opened for ventilation (most hotel rooms do not) so did not have to rely on air conditioning. That said when used the conditioner was easy to operate, switched itself on and off at the correct temperature (and did not run continuously like some) and was relatively quiet i.e. was able to sleep through it. Our room cleaner was excellent and the staff on reception were very helpful. The Park Pub was very good for breakfasts and evening meals.

Great location. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. No Frills and Safeway supermarkets were a few blocks away. The beach was a block away. Bus stop right outside the hotel. Nice room (#211). Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, fridge and microwave in case you wanted store and warm up your food. More than sufficient for a solo traveller.

I didn't like the raised sink in the bathroom. It caused water to splash out onto the countertop. The hallways were a little messy, but the room itself was fine. The price was a bit high, though Vancouver is expensive.
