Holiday home by the river Nidd 5

Living area more spacious than expected, with a bonus en-suite loo to the double bedroom. Well equipped, clean, good condition, good shower. Would be happy to come back.

Single beds are narrow. "By the river" conjures up a view that isn't there. Closely-packed mobile home park, with the river running along one edge of the park. (Once you get to it, it's very nice, with good walks.)

Location

I had to sweep the decking and clean the outside seating before I could use it. Both toilet seats are very loose.

Great accommodation. It was very clean & comfortable & had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The arrival & self check-in instructions were easy to use as well. The site was also very nice - quiet, well maintained & very pretty by the river. Its also only a short walk into Knaresborough. We had a lovely relaxing stay.

The location of the site was the best part of the trip. The caravan was of a decent standard and had outside space. It was clean, comfortable and equipped with what we needed.

Probably the least friendly site we have been to. Our reception greeting was more of a casual handover. Unlike Haven and Parkdean, we got no info on the site at all, not even a map. The details we got only concerned the location of the caravan, which, it turns out, is not on the main site, and it was clear by the push-button entry to our "area" that we were not to stray onto the main site (it was not possible to drive into it, only walk), as this was the "rentals" area. The main site had a separate entrance with its own code. We got no info that the main site had a pub that did food, nor the cafe by the river. The only map of the site was on a board as you aproached the main site, on the right, so to take a picture meant standing in the middle of the road to take a picture. Why not next to reception? Or, as the main site has no visitors, just owners, and they already know what is on the site, why not in our compound?????? Strangely, the pub now only did food at weekends and the cafe is falling down due to a lack of maintenence (6ft steel barriers stop access around the building and the balcony around it was rotten. They were nice people who ran it, but trade was low. They were most upset when I said that we were not told about them and found them by looking on google maps. Also, the same was true of the pub, not enough business to put on food other than at weekends. I wonder why? I had issues with the cooker (twice) which needed a part, so we had to make do, and we had a flat battery in the remote for the electric fire (coal effect} and it was on when we arrived (coal effect only). A visit to reception to ask for a battery. No, not got any. Can they get one? No, that would mean we had to go out and get one. Use the controls of the fire.... They did message me after we left to apologise about the cooker, and offer us a free upgrade when we go back. But, as I said, probably the least friendly site we have been to. Definitely would not go back.
