Hylands Hotel Double Room with Private Bathroom & Free Parking

We booked one night here as we were heading elsewhere the following day and it was close to there, we'd had a long drive so needed a rest stop. Very nice chap checked us in. The hotel is dated as other folk have mentioned yet we thought it was excellent value for money, you really did have everything you needed for a one night stay. Tea, coffee, water. towels, toiletries etc. Comfy bed and great shower. The room was clean and comfortable and had a TV and free wifi. Close to a co-op, and Tesco for fuel and food etc, right in the town centre yet quiet, the parking was really spacious which was great as we had a campervan. Campsites near by were only a few pounds cheaper! So we felt this was better value for the one night.

For the money there are no complaints at all, yet it would be really nice to see the hotel in its former glory as its a lovely old building

Although the room didn't have a mini fridge there was a fridge that the staff let me use. Hotel was in a good location not too far from a good butty shop. Staff were also accommodating in changes to party size.

The room felt a little "old". Could do with some renovating. Shower, although en-suite was very small and the showerhead didn't do a good job of spraying water. The TV looked quite old and seemed to lack modern features.
