Cozy Private Room with Shared Amenities

There was nothing that we liked It was very unclean unwelcoming falsely advertised and potentially unsafe

The advertisement is very misleading and scammy. We were looking for somewhere fairly cheap to stay for 2 nights. This place had good reviews and some pictures showing rooms that look alright and some locations that we thought were meant to be close by. Turns out the reviews are fake and what we thought was multiple rooms is just a single room in his house. The area is rough and a bit sketchy. At the door he checked us in before showing us the house. He took us straight upstairs to the bedroom and pointed to the bathroom. Giving us very little info, only asking if we were going to leave at any point that evening. At this point we realized that this was his own house and “shared amenities” meant we were sharing with him with the bedroom right next to his. He was not friendly at all and quickly disappeared into his room. We weren’t shown the kitchen (even though the kitchen facilities are advertised). The bedroom was very small and simple like the pictures, but the sheets and duvet did not look washed with brown stains. It was musty with an odor and we could hear him in the room next to us talking very loudly. As two young girls we felt very uncomfortable. There was a plastic lock on the bedroom door but no lock on the bathroom door. The bathroom was disgusting. His used toiletries were lying in piles on the windowsill. Everything looked dirty, the toilet was very stained and the water yellow, the floor and carpet around it had urine stains. Bucket in the shower, no mirror, and very little light. The overall atmosphere was very unwelcoming and dodgy, we didn’t feel safe or comfortable enough to stay there so we ended up leaving right away. On our way out he promised he would give us a full refund and to keep in contact through booking.com. However he has now gone back on that promise and we're still waiting for him and booking. com to sort this mess out.

Really nice host, I mistakenly thought I was booking into a hotel (my own fault) so was a little confused showing up at someone's house. I was pleasently surprised regardless, very welcoming people, exceptionally clean room with a nice bed . I was up at 3am for a flight so this was just what I needed to catch up on sleep. The host Junaid was up at 3am to greet me and let me out the house despite me assuring him this was not necessary. He allowed me Wi-Fi access as my data was not working and even asked if I'd had dinner already. No complaints at all, I urge anyone on a budget to stay here.

I can't really complain that the house is far out of the city centre... It's in the location I knew it would be. So no complaints at all again.
