Traditional ryokan house that could bed up to 28 people. Not too far to walk to centre or restaurants. Air-con in every room.
It could do with some modernisation but it is what it is and that was part of the appeal, so this is not a complaint.

For the price it was comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. The owner was responsive. He allowed us an early check in and we stored our bags there for a couple hours after check out. Close to transit. Walked to most places. Comfortable for our group of 14.
The kitchen had a funky smell sometimes. Probably from the drain. Dated for sure, but clean. Would use again for large group on a budget.

A group of 14 meditation enthusiasts (all got there own rooms) wanting to see Kyoto and this was the perfect spot. Close to train, temples via bus or taxi, Gion district was across the river. We meditated with a monk walked the philosophers path and went on our own journeys through magical streets and markets of wonder. Beds are comfortable kitchen was very useful and onsen next door. Don’t disregard this gem. Would definitely book again.
There was not much to dislike. This is traditional and quaint, exactly as described.
