Very traditional ryokan.

We didn’t understand if we had access to only the room, or if there were other features of the property to access. We were not told about a restaurant or whether there was an onsen at the property, so felt as though that could have been explained. We just used our room.

Our stay was decent overall, but a specific incident ruined the experience. We expected the firm bedding common in ryokans, but we did not expect the total lack of noise control. On our second night, we were disturbed by guests several rooms away who were being extremely loud and inappropriate. ​Even with earplugs, I was woken up three times between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM by shouting and other disruptive noises. Both the receptionist and I were ignored when we tried to ask them to be quiet. It wasn't until I had to firmly confront them at the door at 3:00 AM that it finally stopped. The staff's inability to handle this situation was disappointing. A place of rest should never feel this chaotic.
