Good location.
I found this place when my wife and I needed a night in St Malo for our ferry the next day.
The photos are colorful, clean and seemingly upmarket, however, they were so very misleading.
When the reservation was made it gave a check in time of between 4pm-5pm with the option to change.
I changed the time to 3pm-4pm.
We arrived at 3.10pm to find a closed hotel with no one to tend to us.
I eventually called a number on the door and got a French lady with very good English.
She abruptly advised that check-in was at 4.30pm, I started to explain that I had changed the times but gave up.
At this point my wife and I just needed a shower and rest after a long journey and we're so disappointed not to be able to do this.
We walked up the road in the beautiful sunshine and found a place for a bite and a drink to kill time.
As we were dressed in light clothing it was awful to see the heavens open and our walk back to the hotel was pretty miserable to say the least.
We arrived back at the hotel at 4.15pm, soaking wet, cold and shattered.
Still closed, we waited until 4.20pm before calling again and the lady said that she will be down.
We felt like we were putting her out but needed to get warm and dry.
She came down and pointed to a sign in French that apparently stated that check in was at 4.30pm.
It took, what seemed like an age, to check us in, with a very stressed, unfriendly and unprofessional attitude.
Walking to the room is your first taste of the dirty, tired and unloved interior with scuffed walls and stained carpets.
The room:
Small double bed which was frustratingly uncomfortable.
Dirty bathroom.
Broken shower (unable to secure the head)
Four hangers but no coat hooks.
No head board on the bed due to the light switches being at pillow level. (Yes, they were turned on by the slightest movement)
Broken and grubby TV remote.
Just awful!!!!!!
Breakfast was equally as disappointing but slightly saved by a good croissant and pretty good coffee.

Poor, very run down and not value
The receptionist was very helpful and polite. We only stayed for one night as it was in-between our Airbnb and ferry home.
The room was so run down, toilet stained and dirty. Lime scale bad on shower head, long blonde hair hanging from shower head. Felt dirtier after shower than before.

Exceptionally kind host. 15min walk to walled city. Perfect
The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had an issue with car and managed to move our booking forward one day. He helped us store the additional luggage instead of carry 2 flights and even arranged a taxi for us. Very impressed by receiving such support from the kind man.

An ideal hotel for a short break; perfectly positioned if you’re catching the ferry to the UK.
We have stayed at the Ar Terra Nova several times and have always been very happy with all aspects of our stay. The receptionist has been the same on each occasion and is very helpful.

Location - 10-15 min walk to both the ferry terminal & the train station
Arrived late so no staff on hand for check in but they left the key in a secure keysafe with clear instructions on how to retrieve the key. Room was clean
