Exceptional stay with wonderful hosts, highly recommended.

Lovely small home stay with 2 rooms. We had a very spacious and comfortable en suite room with a covered patio overlooking a beautiful garden. Very peaceful, away from the main road but close to the centre of the village and local food market. Made and Putu were friendly and exceptional hosts who looked after us very well. They made us feel very welcome. Putu is an excellent chef, her food is truly delicious-you don’t need to go anywhere else! We had wonderful excursions with Made and learned so much about Bali, its culture and customs. We were sorry to leave!

Very comfortable homestay with good food and super friendly hosts, you will not be disappointed.

We travelled for 3 weeks through Bali and this was our favorite place to stay. Made and Putu are super friendly and so very welcoming. The rooms are spotless clean, with clean crisp linen on the bed, soft towels which smell fresh and clean. The temperature in the room was very pleasant with the airconditioning, which worked well. The bed and pillows are super comfortable. We slept better here than we did anywhere else in Bali. We really enjoyed sitting at our private terrace, overlooking their courtyard gardens and the family temple. The breakfast was absolutely scrumptious and very generous and we looked forward to Putu's cooking every morning. We enjoyed her cooking so much that we had our dinner at the homestay too, it was delicious and cooked with fresh ingredients. I recommend eating here! Putu and Made are super attentive to their guests needs. They recommend places to go, we rented motorbikes through them to see the beautiful countryside, waterfalls and temples around the area. The area around here is stunning and we enjoyed this part best. We had 2 beautiful silver rings created with a silversmith Made recommends and the results were amazing. It was fun doing a silver making class. Putu and her sister dressed us in traditional Balinese clothing and took photos around their property, it was so much fun and we learned a lot about their culture and language. We will miss these people dearly!

There was nothing we didn't like. I missed Putu's cooking after we moved on to other parts of Bali!

I enjoyed my stay at Made Putu Homestay.

Made and Putu are the best hosts that I have experienced at homestays. They are very attentive. One evening, they took me to a pray at the local temple. It was one of the best experiences I have in Sidemen. Putu is a wonderful chef, her traditional Indonesian cooking is so good that I have all my meals at their place.

A rare, authentic homestay where kindness, culture, and family spirit make you never want to leave

My stay at Made Putu Homestay was, without a doubt, the highlight of my trip to Bali — an experience so genuine and heartfelt that I struggle to find the right words. From the very first moment, Putu welcomed me with a simple smile and a cup of Bali coffee. Her kindness radiated through every gesture, even as she tried to communicate in imperfect English. Staying here felt like being invited into the heart of a Balinese family: watching Putu prepare offerings, cook meals, and care for her guests with grace and warmth. Meeting Made was equally special. As a solo female traveler, I felt looked after every moment of my stay. Together, we trekked through the rice fields he knows intimately, he explained local life in excellent English, and he introduced me to experiences I would never have found alone: a silver ring workshop, hidden waterfalls, and even a moving visit to Pura Besakih, where we prayed side by side. These were deeply personal moments, made affordable with only a small contribution compared to tourist prices. He even drove me all the way to Amed with a smile. Meals prepared by Putu were another highlight — she once ran a restaurant, and it shows. Every dish was delicious, always served with thoughtful touches. The room itself was spotless, modern, and comfortable, with air-conditioning and a great shower. I left feeling like part of their family, grateful for every moment. I’ve promised to return, and I truly will — these people touched my heart.

I loved that the room was very clean. Big bed and spacious bathroom with a nice storage rack. Loved that it was a part of their home, you feel like you are a part of the family. It’s a little bit of a walk from the main center but not bad if you enjoy walking. Streets aren’t too busy to walk anyway

The only negative was the roosters, but then again this is everywhere in Bali. Just come prepared with headphones/ ear plugs.

Great homestay experience

We really enjoyed staying with Made and his wife. It was great to have someone answer our questions about Bali and explain all that was new to us. The 2 rooms are modern, new, large and clean, the beds very comfortable. They sit separate on the property which is quietly situated a few rows from the main street. We also booked Made for a day-tour, - one of the highlights of our Bali-trip! We visited the rice terraces, a waterfall and the Besakih temple. His English is sufficient and his knowledge about culture and plants is great. The meals Made's wife cooked for us were very tasty. What we enjoyed most was the welcoming atmosphere and that they offered us some insight into balinese culture. Would totally stay with them again.

Perfect stay in Sideman.

We had a great stay at Made Putu. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is the option to have breakfast, dinner and lunch. The food is great. The hosts are really nice. We did a day trip (rice fields, waterfall, temple) with them and had an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend staying here.

Made Putu Homestay

Made and Putu were very friendly hosts and made us feel welcome guests. Putu's meals were good, we really loved the breakfast pancakes and fresh fruit. Our room was comfortable, looking out onto attractive gardens.

Be careful with transfer service

The homestay is well located in Sidemen, in a pleasant and quiet setting. The room is spacious, and the breakfast served was of good quality.

I do not recommend organizing your transfers with the homestay. After our stay in Sidemen, we wanted to go to Nusa Lembongan. The host offered to arrange the transfer, and we chose to trust him, which we unfortunately regretted afterward. He assured us that a ferry left Kusamba at 9 a.m. to avoid the waves and therefore advised a departure from the homestay at 7:30 a.m. Once we arrived at the port, we learned that the ferry actually only left at 10:30 a.m., and the sea conditions were rougher. So, we had to wait for 2.5 hours for the departure. Another unpleasant surprise: the ferry did not go directly to Nusa Lembongan but to Nusa Ceningan. We then had to take a bus and walk to reach our final destination. On top of that, the transportation fare between the homestay and the port was significantly higher — 100,000 rupiah more than the price offered through the Grab app. Therefore, I recommend being cautious about the services offered by the homestay. Finally, regarding the room, there was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom as well as a high humidity level.

Made en Putu zijn echt hele lieve en behulpzame mensen. Ze hebben me thuis laten voelen en zorgden goed voor me, Putu maakte iedere dag een ontbijtje voor me. Daarnaast hebben ze ook veel ideeën voor activiteiten in en rondom de omgeving van Sidemen. De kamer was ruim en schoon! Ik zou zeker nog een keer teruggaan

I giorni trascorsi da Made e Putu sono stati bellissimi. La stanza è grande, pulita e dotata di aria condizionata perfettamente funzionante. La posizione è ottima, nel centro del villaggio di Sidemen. L'accoglienza è stata super, mi sono piaciute molto le colazioni e le cene cucinate da Putu e il tour di una giornata tra le risaie, la cascata di Gembleng e il tempio Besakih fatto insieme a Made è stato autentico e affascinante. Consiglio di alloggiare qui per scoprire qualcosa in più della vera Bali. Spero di tornare presto, grazie!

Les propriétaires sont adorables, toujours aux petits soins et prêts à vous aider. Si vous êtes un voyageur seul, ils peuvent vous organiser des visites et vous prendre en charge, ce qui a été très pratique dans mon cas à Sidemen ! Wir würden immer wieder kommen.

Die Besitzer waren das Highlight unseres Aufenthalts. Wir haben uns wie zu Hause gefühlt. Putu hat uns immer mit Tee und selbstgemachten Snacks versorgt. Made hat uns mit dem Roller geholfen. Beide waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war sehr großzügig und lecker. Das Zimmer war sauber und das Bett groß und gemütlich. Die Lage in Sidemen war großartig, nur 5min mit dem Roller von den wunderschönen Reisterassen entfernt.

Allt var verkligen toppen, värdparet är så gulliga och gör verkligen allt för att man ska ha det bra. Vi gjorde silverklass hos deras bror vilket var toppen och sen skjutsade värden oss till nästa destination. Väldigt rent och trevligt. God hemlagad mat också.

Ce logement est tout simplement formidable! L'accueil réservé par Made et Putu, on se sent comme à la maison La chambre et la salle de bain sont confortables et spacieuses. Le petit déjeuner et le dîner préparés par Putu sont très bons et copieux.

Fantastico soggiorno!

Made e Putu sono due persone meravigliose, l’accoglienza ricevuta è senza eguali, gentili e disponibili, sempre sorridenti. Ci siamo sentite come a casa, una seconda famiglia. Purtroppo siamo rimaste solo due notti, avremmo voluto fermarci di più. Sidemen è incantevole e la casa è molto pulita con un bel giardino interno. Se cerchi un’esperienza autentica non puoi che soggiornare qui. Putu è una cuoca eccezionale e ci ha deliziate con le sue prelibatezze, Made ci ha accompagnato nel nostro tour facendovi vivere la vera Bali. Ci hanno vestite con i loro abiti tradizionali da cerimonia e abbiamo vissuto l’esperienza del tempio come due balinesi. Inoltre il fratello di Made ha un laboratorio di creazione di gioielli in argento e abbiamo potuto realizzare noi i nostri anelli. Grazie Made e Putu. Non vi dimenticheremo mai. Non vediamo l’ora di tornare!

Parenthèse enchantée chez Madé et Putu, immersion garantie

Merveilleux havre de paix au cœur de Sidemen, Madé et Putu nous ouvrent leur petit domaine familial à bras ouverts, Madé ancien chef de village et joueur expérimenté de rindick (initiation à notre arrivée) est un guide discret et attentionné, Putu ancienne cuisinière nous a régalés pendant trois jours, les enfants ont pu jouer avec les chats dans un jardin luxuriant et relaxant, un petit kart à pédales à disposition a amusé les enfants parcourant les allées du jardin dans tous les sens, les chambres sont toutes neuves (un an) et ultra confortables (king size beds et salle de bain très spacieuse), atelier de fabrication de bijoux en argent juste à côté de chez eux (chez le petit frère de Madé), notre fille a assisté à la fabrication de sa propre bague, un beau souvenir. Parfait pour une immersion au cœur d'une famille traditionnelle balinaise, Madé propose des visites ciblées (rizieres, waterfall) et connaît tout le monde, il nous a ouvert toutes les portes, nous avons pu être purifiés et priés au Besakih temple grâce à lui (le plus grand de Bali) en étant habillés par Putu dans des habits traditionnels à eux, un gain de temps précieux lors de notre arrivée au temple. Que du bonheur je recommande les yeux fermés !

2 jours dans le vrai Bali, avec des habitants extraordinaires hors des circuits touristiques classiques. Très bonne adre

Dès notre arrivée accueil très chaleureux ! Définition de notre programme de visites avec Made (qui se propose d'être notre guide local) pour découvrir Sidemen (rizières, cascade et temple Besakhi avec bénédiction en costume traditionnel). Chambre spacieuse, confortable et très propre. Putu nous réalise de superbes petits déjeuners et des repas typiquement balinais succulents. Putu et Made sont géniaux, foncez !!! 2 nuits chez l'habitant ici, c'est une des plus belles expériences de notre séjour.
