It was quirky and unique. The owner made a cozy spot out of a utilitarian boathouse. While sketchy from the outside, it was pleasant and clean and comfy inside. Loved the breeze and being so close to the tidal play!

I lost the initial instructions about getting in and with 1 percent on my phone battery and a late arrival, it took awhile to get the code for the door. Also no stove, just a hot plate, air fryer(?) and a microwave. Once in, all good…

Such a wonderful unique property .. how thoughtfully appointed and refreshingly clean. All the little details have been thought of by the hosts . Even a mosquito net on the bedroom door for open air sleeping if desired. A water filter with pure clean drinking water. Right on the new walking track so perfect for a morning or evening stroll or a run if so inclined. Instructions for entry given by host were clear and helpful. Thanks for sharing your wonderful boathouse with the world.

If anyone likes pitch dark to sleep in the bedroom has some glow from streetlights.

It is a fun place to stay.

Quirky. In the best sense of that word. Staying in a boathouse is not a usual experience and this was a fun experience. The bedroom is large and sits behind a door that feels like opening a bulkhead on a ship.

Neither of the following are criticisms. They are points to note following the location of the property. 1. The parking is close by and convenient, however it is in a large isolated area next to the water. 2. Being a renovated boatshed there is not a lot of spare space.

Looking for a fun funky place? This is it.

It was an exceptionally fun place to stay. Sitting on the deck in a comfy basket chair with a glass of wine overlooking the water was fantastic. The place was well furnished will every thing needed. It was very close to the Hundertwasser Museum, the main reason for our visit. Wish we could have stayed longer

Novel experience.

It was a novel experience staying in a boat shed by the water. Fresh flowers in vases were a nice touch.

Finding the location of the shed. A photo of BONZE with the leaping marlin would have been helpful. Recommend providing a physical address as not all GPS’s have the ability to search for a commercial name. The electric jug couldn’t easily reach the power point. Provide directions on how to lock the door when temporarily leaving.

Amazing waterfront property

Everything! It was warm clean and inviting ❤️ the views were pretty great even though it's just on the harbour it's stunning especially in the evening. The company was amazing too 😍 oh and it's supriseingly spacious ad an air fryer microwave hot plate and decent sized fridge.

Hmmm the only thing I can think of is the lock was a lil bit tricky but got the hang of it easily enough the room was a lil small and I knocked my shins a couple of time on the bed base.

Absolutely loved the boat house. Entry instructions were easily described, the house was immaculate, and the views were amazing! This was a very last minute booking and we didn't arrive til late but the hosts were more than happy to reply to any messages promptly.

Cosy and Quirky

Cute, cosy and quirky accommodation. It had everything we needed and fresh flowers were a nice touch. Good communication with clear instructions on how to use the door code. The property definitely looks its best at high tide. Convenient central location, easy walk to the Town Basin.

We didn't find it cold as other reviewers have done, but the downside of the central location meant it was quite noisy.

Amazing place to stay - very central and such a lovely outlook. The unit was comfortable and well appointed and made for a very relaxing stay. Very clean throughout and easy to access. One of my favourite places I have stayed in and I hope to stay again 😊

A great, one-off experience

Very good location, quiet at night, clean and organised. Interesting to see tide go in and out. The property was on the Hatea river walkway and very close to the basin - easy to walk there on the flat with no roads to cross. Good cafe the other way.

The weather was very cold and the lounge area was drafty and therefore not comfortable temeperature wise. The windows and doors (slatted) were not sealed. The bedroom was easy to heat with the heater provided

Quirky cool stay in Whangarei

Awesome quirky little property! Great views from the decking. Loved sitting on the hanging chair reading and watching the world go by. Great kitchen facilities.

Only one downside was living area was a bit cold in winter as it’s not fully sealed from outside. But plenty of blankets and the bedroom is self contained and lovely and warm so wasn’t an issue for us. Just something to be aware of.

Gorgeous, quirky, comfy boatshed conversion - loved it!

Loved this boathouse! It's right over the water and is a terrific quirky conversion of what was probably once a working boatshed, to very comfortable, cosy accommodation! Had everything we needed. Loved the outdoor deck over the water with views of the central part of town across the river. I thought it might be a bit noisy, but at night it was just fine! We'd love to come back! Great directions with directions to nearby parking. Hosts quickly responded to my query about tsunami risk as NZ was in an alert situation - sure enough, it was just fine!

We really enjoyed our stay at the boat house. It is certainly a little different to typicfal accomodation, but was very comfortable, very well equiped and well located. We would happily stay there again and would recommend it to other.
