Perfect in any respect

A magnificent place. Cozy, comfortable, super clean, elegantly and lovingly furnished, spacious. Simply excellent and perfect. There were fresh apples to welcome me, there was coffee and tea, there were cereals and cookies. And in the fridge there was even a bottle of fresh milk.

Good location; clean property. Would suit a couple or two singles.

Very clean and well equipped with comfortable bed. Lots of breakfast options supplied (cereal, milk, yoghurt, bread and spreads, coffee and various teas, etc). Property was an easy walk into town and had a corner convenience store just past the driveway. Nice outlook over the river and city beyond.

Built in under the main house, it was somewhat claustrophobic and disjointed with entry onto the main bedroom and lounge up a few stairs, through the bathroom and along a narrow corridor to lounge or second bedroom. Didn't use this room at all. The layout makes it unsuitable for mobility challenged and elderly with steps to the front door and to bathroom. Parking available but the driveway was very steep without safety barriers which made me very nervous in an unfamiliar hire car. Bathroom was well equipped with shower soap, shampoo and conditioner, hairdryer, etc and again, very clean. Shower is a moulded plastic corner facility that was slippery - no grab rails.

The attention to be a 'mini' home away from home. Brilliant

All condiments were in the room: freshest bread for toast with yummy peanut butter and jam - yoghurt had to be home made, it was amazing! - TV with great channels - lovely touches of not only condiments but ornaments - very homely and snuggly (is that a word? ...) Oh and the views from the balcony sublime.

Nothing to do better ... however, it is a very steep driveway ... so I had to navigate carefully. All good though.

As I was travelling without a car, I found the steep driveway challenging at my age and the steps up to the bathroom from down stairs could be difficult for people with mobility issues

Fabulous location, with views of the river, walking distance into town. The room was beautifully decorated, and pristine throughout. The breakfast and snacks were top notch and we really enjoyed our stay.

Bed was very comfortable, the place was very clean, the kitchenette was well stocked including multiple breakfast options.

It wasn’t quite clear that the unit was under a private residence with connecting locked doors. There was loud dance music from the neighbourhood late into the night (it was a Saturday night).

I loved everything about Riverside Retreat. Great location, bed was comfy, lovely selection of food and the place was super cute. We would definitely love to stay here again if we got the chance to come back up to Whangarei and have already recommended it as a great place to stay to our friends and family. Perfect for couples

What beautiful old villa, I think. Modern style upgrade. All the extras, bread ,milk, butter, sugar, coffee, tea, Chocolate biscuits toiletries. Loved the quaint up stirs lounge with tv Netflix. Bedroom may be in the kitchen with tv and Netflix, but the view off the entrance was gorgeous. Thank you, Deklan

I appreciated the location, the cleanliness of the establishment, and the beautiful decor. It smelled fresh and clean, and they offered a continental breakfast, bed was comfy the top room was cool it has everything you need for a stay it feels private.

Surprise food treats, generous selection & their styling was lovely. I was soo grateful for their bathroom extras...the shower cap saved my blow-dry. Yay.

Plates were slightly wet in between. That might have been previous guest caused. I just rewashed & dried before use. If you have knee issues where stairs are an issue, not sure if potential guests are alerted to their being steps inside? Realise that only affects very low percentage of the population, not many people would be aware.

Perfect location close to town, great rate & spotless! Would be good to have a 2 seater table outside even though it would be a tight spot be worth it with the view watching the sunset over the basin 😊

De gastheer was behulpzaam met koffer even daar stallen tot 12.30, De bedden waren goed. Alles was zeer verzorgd en mooi ingericht.

Ontbijt voor 2 overnachtingen was aan de magere kant, er werd niet bijgevuld voor de tweede dag, voor 1 overnachting was ontbijt goed/ voldoende
