On arrival, after an 8 hour journey, we were asked to sit and wait to check in as ‘there is a crisis’. This was to do with the room allocation of the wedding party who had arrived prior to us…
After settling into the room, we couldn’t have a hot drink, as vegans, we previously notified the hotel to ensure this could be accommodated (as we were visiting for a social occasion & didn’t want to have to keep asking), there was only diary milk, with the pg tips/Nescafé instant/hot choc (containing milk) sachets…
There was no recognition of our dietary requirements at breakfast either. Despite raising it the evening before at dinner, (we were told they might have a chickpea burger.. )
For dinner, we paid £16:50 each for pasta in tomato sauce & vegetables. We asked for 2 alcohol free beers, assuming they were bottles.. 2 pints arrived & we were reassured, despite their completely different appearance, they were the same drinks. Obviously bottom of a barrel as someone else in the restaurant asked for one and was told they had run out.. these were £4:50 per pint…
There was a wedding taking place and all staff were focussed on that exclusively. Our room had details of the wedding & photos of the bride and groom and corsages in it, despite us being nothing to do with the wedding.
The website depicts a very different experience to be had, than the one we experienced.
