We turned up to be told they had finished early and we would have to find food at another hotel

Lovely traditional moors/dales pub with accommodation to the rear. Wood burners in the main bar areas. Plenty of parking. Staff were exceptional - friendly, chatty, and the dogs / cats in the bar (I was asked first if they could come in) really added to the atmosphere. Food was excellent!
Rooms were a bit tired.

The property looks lovely! We went in to be greeted by a lovely guy who checked us in.
The room was absolutely stunning, loved the coffee machine and the idea of a hot chocolate which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Also had food here in the evening which we couldn’t fault!
We would definitely stay here again!
10 out of 10 for us!!
We loved everything!

When I entered I was met by Richard the host who was so kind and welcoming. Explained the rooms and food options. He made me feel very at home.
Room was nice and clean and the power shower is strong.
Dinner was lovely, a great pub atmosphere with again Richard making sure everyone was happy and had all they needed. The food was delightful.
I’d happily stay again.

Friendly staff and a great location / base for my south western lakes hiking. Lovely setting and food
I'm a very light sleeper so it was slightly noisy but I was in the room nearest the pub kitchens. If you're not a light sleeper it won't be an issue.

We went for a hiking holiday, the freestanding bath and powerful walk-in shower were absolute perfection to come back to after exploring the beautiful surrounding peaks. The staff were friendly and attentive, breakfast was hearty in a relaxed atmosphere.

It was a 250 year old building and did need a little bit of maintenance here and there but generally it was good

The manager (owner?) offered us a great place at the back to safely parked our motorbike and a pint of ale on the house while our room was getting ready (we booked it less than an hour before arrival). The food served at dinner was gorgeous and we wish the portions were smaller, because we were really sorry not to eat everything, despite we ate twice as much as we should (we were offered boxes to save it for later). The breakfast was delicious as well, with a wide selection of food (including oat milk and a marmite :)). If we ever visit this part of Lake District again, we will definitely stay there.

It was a nice enough atmosphere in the pub. The kids got some lovely freshly made pancakes at breakfast.
Neither room was made up as requested. One room was small, incredibly hot and had one very difficult to open and heavy window. We had issues with access to both rooms, both having problems with locks that required multiple attempts to get in. The rooms were not particularly clean and one smelled very strongly of febreeze or similar chemical spray.

The staff were so lovely and friendly, the room was beautifully clean and the grounds lovely and peaceful. The breakfast choices were perfect and food was great too-especially their sausages!

Staff excellent. We arrived very late and the kitchen was closed but Richard behind the bar kept the bar open for us whilst we went to get a takeaway. When we returned we ate our food with a few pints despite it most likely making him late off work. The following day we had breakfast via the owner and chef, both couldn’t be more helpful, kind and approachable. Breakfast was generous and filled us up for the day.
Rooms did the job. Bed fine, shower was hot, minor issues with a leaking shower onto the floor and wobbly toilet but for the price I was never expecting the Ritz. We used it solely just to crash the evening before climbing Scaffel.
Nothing of significance or that the staff could affect. It did the job for the price we paid.

no complaints.

Nice quiet location, good clean room with a good hot shower and comfortable, just what we needed after a morning of hiking.
Food was not available so we had to go elsewhere but we were told of this before we arrived so it was not a problem, the restaurant looks nice so hopefully we get to use it on our next visit.

Catered for most of my needs. Quiet, good setting in the lakes.

The staff had been exceptionally helpful from beginning to end. The bed was comfortable and queries or problems are resolved promptly.
For £70 a night I would have liked to feel somewhat more comfortable in using the bathroom facilities. I understand the use of the red admiral accommodation, in a sense of location and public use. but the bathroom sink and tap had issues left uncleared from previous visitors. For example, toothpaste and spit on tap handle/sink and opened sugar packets inside the bowl offerings. Indicating the room had not been cleaned or supposedly quickly ran through. Bedroom window was broke so if you ate in the room, it quickly became stuffy.

Convenient location. Okay radiator. Good storage space. Basics provided (towels, shower gel, hot drinks stuff).
Needed a hoover. Hair in the bed and bath. Unclear of how to use shower. Unclear how to check out. Everything felt damp. Dusty. Panel for bath falling off. Ceiling above shower leaking. No door handles for wardrobe. Toilet door wouldn’t close. Cobwebs.

Handy location for a long journey. Clean, dry and warm. Little kitchenette area is a bonus.
The room needs TLC though for the price this isn't a surprise at all. It looks like works are being done, the toilet wobbles and the seat moves so going for a pee is an adventure! There are a few holes in the walls, the windows could do with a clean and the shower leaks but as I mentioned, it's clean, dry and warm. If the above were fixed though we'd be happy to stay longer as a base to explore the area. I'd much rather give my money to an individual than a big chain.

What breakfast!!!!, Nothing at all, I've traveled around and seen some places but this one was the pits.. We only saw someone on arrival ( after the money for the rooms was taken out of our account) I went to ask to reserve breakfast for four the following morning to be told they did not do breakfast, But their advert was they did food but you had to reserve.
When we arrived we were shown to the rooms up a fire escape ( 2 sets of stairs) my husband has walking difficulties so to manage the stairs was extremely hard thank goodness we had my brother with us who could fetch up our bags otherwise we again would have had problems.

Nothing at all. It was disgusting.
If this is the type of accommodation Booking.com is offering these days then I will look for accommodation at other sights.
We were shown our room via a fire escape ( two sets of metal stairs) my husband has walking difficulties so it was extremely hard for him to get up. thankfully my brother was with us so he helped with luggage. Money was taken from our account before and we only saw the proprietor twice, I asked to reserve a table for four for breakfast to be told they don't do breakfast even though it is advertised.
