The hotel is in a lovely location.
They are extremely dog friendly.
The reviews I had read were correct and appropriate.
The hotel and room is clean and well run and in good condom.
It has all the facilities you would hope for.
A lovely bar and restaurant where dogs are welcome to eat with you in the comfortable bar.
The breakfast has been super each day. Thank you Giles and Eddie for your lovely service.
The evening meals have been made even more enjoyable thanks to a lovely chap called Phil who runs it and Tim from the kitchen.
Thank you.

It far exceeded our expectations, when staying with a dog we sometimes find we are given a below par room & they can ‘tolerate’ dogs but at The Kellbank they truly are dog friendly, it was lovely and is our new ‘go to’ when visiting a friend at the local care home!
I honestly don’t think it could have been better.

Good value for money
Good food and choices
Great breakfast
Able to control heating from an App
Room a little cool even though controlled by us. Seemed to take ages to get up to temp
Room was set up for 1 person. Had to ask for towels, cup, glass, etc.

There was nothing to fault at all. We had the accessible room & it was very well set up and laid out.
The whole establishment was warm & comfortable & the friendliness & helpfulness of the staff, only enhanced the experience.
All of the food was home made, fresh & hot, in fact instead of going out to try different places in an evening, as we normally do, we ate at the hotel every night.
I would highly recommend this hotel, we will be back soon.
The only thing I would say to future travellers, and this has nothing to do with the hotel, when using the satnav, ask it to take you via the A595 as mine took us over the fells, which was rather hair raising.

Ideal location for exploring this area. Very friendly staff and delicious pub grub. Our room was newly renovated and was very nicely decorated with a fabulous photo of Wastwater on one whole wall. Very comfortable bed and a quiet room. Exceptionally clean bathroom. Fabulous shower! We have stayed before and we’ll definitely stay again.
The ONLY negative we had could be very easily fixed. There was no wardrobe in the room, and only 4 fixed hangers (between 2 of us) on a rail above a desk. Not easy to reach. No hooks anywhere in the room for hanging coats, so they were on the floor, and no hooks or rails in the bathroom for hanging damp, after shower, towels. Hooks on the back of doors would be an easy solution.

We stayed in one of the pods. Extremely warm and comfortable. Lovely to have use of the hotel too. Good value meals and a good breakfast included. Staff were exceptionally helpful. As were climbing Scarfell Pike early the morning. They allowed to take breakfast to our pods, which contained a fridge, and even made us a packed lunch. The hotel is also extremely dog friendly, we could leave the dog in the pod whilst we went to breakfast. We would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to stay again in the future.

Excellent all round. Staff were attentive and friendly, room was very clean, great location, excellent food.
We found the function room upstairs a little worse for wear and obviously hadn't been used for a while but we enjoyed the pool table and listening to music on the tv.

-the bed was large and comfy
-The bathroom was large and the shower had good pressure
-the television facing the bed was absolutely huge
-very concerningly, I was woken up at 7am by the sound of someone unlocking my door. This transpired to be housekeeping , who thought the room wasn't occupied. To hear someone trying to enter your room while you're asleep is terrifying , and especially as a solo travelling woman. I called reception who did apologise, and said for some reason the spare key had been left hung up in reception, as if no one was staying in my room. They did ask if they were sure I had my key and had i not left it somewhere in the hotel, which is why it could have been put back in reception - how would I have gotten into my room without my key ??? Reading a few of the reviews below this has happened to a few people so clearly some organisation skills are required
-there was a strange knocking noise for most of the night in my room - like a woodpecker sound. It was relentless. I checked everything and everywhere in my room and couldn't locate anything banging , so it must have been from an adjacent wall.
-i couldn't open my bedroom window as my room was directly above some form of chimney flue which continually emitted thick white smoke and which I didn't want to breathe in. I've attached a photo to try and show.
-the vibe of the hotel to be honest just wasn't for me. It's like a dated locals bar from the 90s with rooms above. I didn't find it overly welcoming and I would not have stayed more than one night
-gosforth as a village has very little going on and I found it really quite a depressing place

Staff, location , food & extent of GF options, pony parking.
Breakfast times. Finishing at 9am is too early for relaxed tourists. Very very small issues with WIFI that were resolved quickly.

The kellbank was a good basic honest place to stay. Food was really good and the staff, especially the guys waitering in the morning at breakfast were really good.
The place was a little on the far side of the lakes but that's on me for not checking where I was and where I wanted to be going daily. The WiFi and phone signal was pretty bad but kind of suited me as I wanted to get away from all that. My son wasn't too impressed with it though.

Tge staff were friendly professional and efficient. The room was comfortable and very clean, it had a dedicated room wifi router. Bed was really comfortable. The food was amazing.
The bull in the garden tried to get me to order the fish instead of the steak and ale pie!

It was ideal for where we were visiting my family near by. We stayed in the new part of the hotel, which was lovely, the bed was very comfortable, shower was great. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant, staff were very friendly and breakfast was superb.
Nothing really, the pillows were a little soft, it would have been nice to have a firmer option but that’s being picky as everything was absolutely great

Quiet small town close to Waswater Lake. Comfy bed and spacious bathroom! Had lots of options for breakfast and it was yummy both mornings.
Room was quite warm so we had left window open but our room looked out on a staff area which got loud in the early morning and woke us up.
