The WiFi is great, so it was easy to plan walking routes and watch tv shows whilst staying, the property is clean & tidy with basic amenities.
The curtains in our room had been partially pulled off the rail previous to our stay so they didn’t close very well, the room was pretty cold with only one small radiator so you need to wrap up warm if staying in the wintering when it’s colder.

Cheap room to bed down for the night with my dog in tow. The rooms were locked using a digital keypad on the door handles. Location good for walking. Pubs serving food nearby. The shower was decent and got hot quickly. The proprietor promptly answered the phone to help when I was having difficulty entering the property using the keypad.
The room was very cold despite the radiator - it was turned on but ineffective. Had to sleep fully clothed. The room appeared clean superficially but there were cobwebs and dirty extractor fan.

The location is very convenient if you’re staying locally
The globe use to be a pub which was open most days, well not anymore.
For guest checking into the hotel, they should receive a code to have access to the hotel which I didn’t not receive via email. Me and 3 other guests were waiting outside the hotel for over an hour trying to find the person in charge as all the phone numbers were unavailable

There wasn’t much to like. There was a quarter of a toilet roll. The windows were drafty and unclean. The headboard had dust. There was no one at the pub when we arrived we had to get our room pin from a pub opposite… (apparently not the first time that’s happened either). Everything was just dated.

Location
We arrived to find the pub completely closed. There was no reception, no staff, and no information about how to check in. The phone number provided did not work, so we couldn’t contact anyone. We ended up having to go to the pub across the road to ask what to do, and they eventually managed to reach someone who gave us a PIN code for the room.
We had to enter through a dirty back gate and mouldy entrance that was full of leaves and looked completely neglected. Once inside, the room was very small and absolutely freezing — the heating wasn’t even on. We had to sleep in our clothes because it was so cold. Everything felt extremely outdated and poorly maintained, definitely not as advertised.
The only positive was the hot water in the shower, but that doesn’t make up for such a bad experience. For the price paid, this was unacceptable. We are requesting a refund due to the lack of service, no check-in procedures, and the overall poor and uncomfortable conditions.
Not recommended.

I like Gosforth and the surrounding area, so the location was perfect for me. The room was pleasant enough and the information provided on the guests landing was helpful. Great size shower and beautifully hot!
The room was way too cold!!! radiators barely warm even though it was pretty cold outside. The pub downstairs was closed and no-one to help during check in, with only a text message to say this on the way to the accomodation.

Easy to get into, cheap and half decent tea tray
Door into property was not secure, so anyone could walk into the building and get the bedroom doors.
Property is single pane glass so chilly but he heating was on.
Curtains need updating, if you’re sensitive to light in the morning take an eye mask.

Decent shower once it warmed up
Expensive for the quality; shoddy decor in commons areas and not much better in the room; poor mattress; no staff or facilities of any kind.

Absolutely nothing. DO NOT GO.
Arrived to find no staff there at all. 2 names were on a note on a door stating their keys were in the doors. My name was not there. Went upstairs to try to find staff but none there. Bar door locked. ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES. Decided to travel back home but really glad I didn’t stay as it looked a total mess. I was then refused a refund.

Cheap accommodation, so don't expect much. It is habitable. The bar is nice, relatively quiet. Only two rooms were occupied on the night I stayed, indicating it is not popular. There is an Italian restaurant, Wild Olive, opposite, which is popular.
The room I was allocated, No 2, had a permanent humming noise which meant you could not sleep in that room. I found another unused room in the attic where I was able to sleep overnight without disturbance. This is basic accommodation where you leave as soon as you wake up.

Staff were amazingly and friendly willing to go the extra mile to help with the enjoyment of being in the local area , great selection of drinks in the bar the locals all happy to chat and make you feel welcome , room was what we expected hot water and good power for the shower, room was clean bedding and towels all fresh and bed was comfy had a lovely nights sleep , tv , kettle and tea ,coffee ,hotchocolate and bottled water facilities in room with extra available if we needed right outside our room . The globe inn was very much an ideal stay for us as travelling out 3000 miles around the uk coastline.we will be very happy to use again when we passing through, thanks so much for making us feel welcome
Nothing was to dislike

Perfect location for us as it was just a 20 minute drive from the bottom of Scafell pike we had climbed that day! Very friendly greeting upon arrival and the room itself was absolutely spotless. The facilities were basic but everything we needed and more than we expected for the price of the room.
Our only problem was that there was no onsite parking. There was a free car park nearby however this seemed to get very busy.

The whole place was more than adequate for our needs could do with a lick of paint though

Great location and very cheap. Other guests have commented it's needs refurbishment and they are right but we personally liked the laid back style. Back of the pub is always open so just walk in to your room (which does have a lock). Gosforth is a very small village with a great sense of community so no issues.
While we liked the fact we were left to our own devices we wished the towels were changed after our 2nd night.

Great location to go to the Wasdale valley which is only 6 miles away. The place is clean and has all you need for a short break. Great pizza place just opposite as well.

No complaints. This was a very cheap price and was ok to stay at. If you’re looking for a five star experience this isn’t for you but it was worth the price they charge.

The room and the linen was clean. The shower was powerful when it worked.
There was a stairway adjacent to our room that had 5 dead cockcoaches on it and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We could visibly see the dead cockcoaches each time we stepped out the room. The mattress was lumpy. The shower took ages to get warm, I had a shower and my partner wanted a shower about 10 minutes after I'd turn the shower off as I'd finished mine, he wasn't able to get any hot water despite waiting for it to warm up. My brother had mould in his bathroom. We had a broken pane of glass in our room. Peeling wallpaper. And the back door of the property was always unlocked meaning the security of the building was compromised. Hardly ever saw any staff there. Not enough milk for weekend and the supply kept in the hall had ran out.

The staff who checked me in was very pleasant and helpful, and had good rapport with patrons, who appeared to be local. They were all hospitable and very friendly

The accommodation was reasonable for the price you paid. The room was a bit on the small side. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and tidy. The internet was good. The free public car park is only a minutes' walk from the accommodation.

Dog friendly, cheap and the bedding is comfortable! And it’s easy access to your room! And walking distance to the other pups/ restaurants
Not much! It’s dog friendly, cheap and so convenient that’s close to everything!!

Great stay for the price paid, perfect for what I needed travelling solo. The location is great and close to West Lakes/ Scafell Pike (Wasdale) which was the reason for my visit. The room was comfortable and a decent size with all the facilities would need. Pub downstairs with pool table etc. There is free parking next door and a few other local pubs nearby.
Needs blackout curtains as the sun woke me up both mornings at 6am

Great location - 7mins to the beach, about 6-7miles to wasdale carpark for Scafell Pike and other hikes.
Friendly staff. Room was clean and warm.
The shower was incredible! Super powerful and lovely and hot, the towels were thick and fluffy - higher end hotel type. Perfect for after a long days hiking in the mountains.
I didnt hear any noise from the bar and bed was super comfy.
This place accepts dogs, so you need to be aware of that. The person in the room next to me clearly was OK with their dog incessantly barking at almost midnight, and even when they did try and shut it up, it didn't seem to work - clearly learned behaviour.
Anyway, the walls are quite thin so if you're a light sleeper, I would bring ear plugs to ensure its undisturbed.
The rooms are a little dated and things like the bedside cabinet were broken - but it really didn't affect the stay.
It's cheap and cheerful and good value for what you pay, just don't expect the Ritz.
My room was on top of the cellar which the staff did tell me there is a fan running which I'd be able to hear that would shut off at night. It was kind of a dull humming sound that shut off at 22.40 (Saturday night) it wasn't really that bad but you could notice the peace when it stopped.
There's no parking on site but there is a free car park about 200 meters round the corner - I was worried it would be full given its the Lake District and that's usually the case, but it was pretty big and for the first weekend in Feb it was pretty empty too.
All that being said, I'd definitely stay again if I needed a base for local hikes.
