Felt like a home from home, even though it was a short stay.

Welcoming and friendly hosts who went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and prepared for our days out. Spacious, beautiful & tasteful decor with local art. Sitting room with the opportunity to sit by the fire. A wonderful, animal-friendly place to stay. And delicious breakfasts!

5* place and people - fella like home when I walked in.

Brilliant stay. Warm feel, welcoming feel, comfortable bed, hot shower after long walks, amazing breakfasts cooked to order, tea on tap and homemade cake, lovely Pepper the B&B dog and Caroline & Clive are such brilliant hosts - friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help from routes to walk, to pubs and places to eat. Add on to all that and it was brilliant value for money …!

Excellent B&B with wonderful hosts

Clive and Caroline are wonderful hosts. Their property is comfortable very clean and we had a lovely view of the lake. There are so many fantastic walks to do in the local area and the breakfasts are fantastic. We would highly recommend this property.

Wonderful peaceful house and amazing hosts.

We loved everything about this property.We had everything we could have possibly needed,including chilled water and milk in the fridge on the landing.Clive and Caroline were amazing hosts,very chatty and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.We would definitely stay there again.

First stay of many

The breakfast was fantastic and on the first day the weather was nice so we ate in the garden, which was absolutely stunning. It was great to have access to the car park and they have secure bike storage, which we may use next time. Portinscale also seemed a lovely place with good bus links, a pub and cafe as well as really close to Keswick.

The drive up to the parking area was a little narrow as our car is really wide, but that was the only vaguely negative comment.

A really delightful stay.

This is a lovely place to stay. The owners Caroline and Clive cannot do enough to make your stay a pleasant and interesting one. The artwork and gardens are delightful as are their two Burmese cats!

Loved this B&B. The little touches make a difference. Caroline and Clive were great hosts. The food was fantastic, as was the hospitality. The bed was super comfy. Breakfast was great, being able to talk around the table with other guests. We met some lovely people.

Perfect location to check off quite a few wainwrights. The breakfast was great, lots of options. The room, the house, the garden - all decorated in exceptional taste.

We are more than happy with our decision to stay here!

My husband and I stayed at The Mount for 3 nights and couldn't be happier! Clive and Caroline were very friendly and accommodating. The B&B was clean, in a wonderful location, and incredibly dog friendly. Breakfast (especially the bacon) was superb. We will be back and suggesting to anyone we know travelling in the area.

Perfect little b&b to stay

It was such a lovely stay. I couldn’t fault it whatsoever! The location is perfect, just a little walk away into Keswick. The hosts were lovely, especially their Full English breakfasts. The bed was comfortable too. We will definitely be booking again.

Everything! It was in a very quiet little village only a mile from Keswick. The room was spotless and the bed was so comfortable, the bathroom had the best shower I’ve ever had with everything you needed for a fantastic stay. The breakfasts were amazing and the communal setting allowed us all swap stories and chat about different places/walks to do. Will definitely be back.

Amazing!

Caroline and Clive are excellent hosts and were really friendly. They gave us some good recommendations for hikes and restaurants. The locally sourced breakfast was one of the best we've ever had and it was really nice sitting around the table with other guests. The location of the B&B is also great and within walking distance from Keswick. We will definitely stay here again.

Welcoming cake and coffee, fridge with milk in for coffee in your room, mural local scene on bedroom wall, lots of interesting books, maps and pictures, 2 gang sockets in the room, binoculars in bedroom, walking distance from Keswick, near several places for good food.

Perfect Place to Stay

EVERYTHING. There was homemade ginger cake (best I've ever had) delicious produce for breakfast, great chats, wonderful art, books and decor plus Clive and Caroline were the most amazing hosts. The garden and flowers were so beautiful and location perfect. And to top it all off, our dog was allowed to stay.

Shepherds hut delight 😄

I really liked the accomodation the shepherds hut was a fabulous place to stay as a solo traveller, it was clean warm and cosy and it was very quiet and felt very safe & secure & I would definitely love to visit & stay again. There's no TV in the room which is perfect to just be able to relax and unwind with a book and a radio. The hosts were wonderful and were really helpful & they made a great cooked breakfast & I was able to sit outside in the wonderful garden & sit in the sun & enjoy the views of Skiddaw.

I think a little later checkout would be good for guests & possibly an earlier breakfast.

Caroline and Clive were really good hosts. We were given the option to choose another room that was available and it was a nice view of the lake. Room was clean with all amenities. Freshly prepared breakfast with good selection. Hosts gave us tips to travel around the area.

Lovely B&B close to everything you would need with a beautiful view of Skiddaw from our bedroom window! Hosts were so kind and helpful, nothing was too much to ask of them; they made our stay feel like a home away from home. Also, the breakfast was delicious!
