Welcoming team of very professional staff, we felt treated as a ‘regular’ with excellent food & drinks both for breakfast and dinner. They offered a packed lunch for us walkers. Stunningly beautiful surroundings, tucked away.

Cost and atmospheric inn in a remote and beautiful lication

Good breakfast with plenty of options cooked to order. Friendly staff. We also had a good dinner in the bar in the evening. Bed was comfy and the room warm.

The lighting options in the room were too surgical. Some of the features of an old building are unavoidable but could cause issues for some or in some circumstances. The staircase to the room is narrow and steep. We returned late - afternoon the bar had closed - and had to access our room through a steep external stone set of steps. These would be problematic for guests who are less confident in their mobility.

Ideal accommodation in an ideal village.

The staff were amazing, easy and friendly. I stayed 2 nights, had great breakfasts to set up for the day with exceptional quality food for dinner. The room was comfortable with good WiFi and an early night ready for heading out from ‘base camp’ to what is the very unspoilt landscapes, walks, waterfalls and pools of the Eskdale and Wasdale area of the lakes. Highly recommend staying here on or off season . Mark from Whitby

Staff go above and beyond

Beautiful place to stay, staff couldn’t do enough for us. After our hike turned into 11 hours and we missed our dinner reservation the staff quickly took our order regardless of the kitchen being closed and allowed us to drop our bags upstairs out the way. The food was amazing too.

Fantastic pub and accommodation in the most beautiful setting. Very helpful and friendly staff. Food was delicious.

I’ve not stayed in a pub before so hadn’t thought about the fact it would be a little noisy as the rooms overlook a busy beer garden. However it was only cheery chatter and soon got use to it.

A wonderful stay with the most wonderful staff,great food & just a Lovely inn

The breakfast was first class and the same with the location.The staff at the boot inn where amazing. I would definitely stay at the Boot inn again.All in all a wonderful stay . Can't wait to go back.

The only negative point is that a customer at the boot inn set the alarm off at night and woke us up.This is no fault of the owner or the staff.This was the fault of the customer who was staying at the boot inn.

Brilliant but ask for a room away from the extractor fan.

The staff are super friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is excellent and a good selection of beers. Plenty of space and tables. Stayed one night but genuinely felt valued as a customer.

My only gripe is that room 6 has a persistent drone from an extractor fan. This continued all night and did affect my sleep. Also the shower needs a little bit of maintenance, otherwise I would have given 10 overall

Staff genuinely interested in their guests. Increasingly rare in my country sadly so when staff do ask where you've come from and engage in real conversation it lifts you. Especially if you're a solo traveller like myself. And they have conditioner in the shower(and, yes, beds super comfy, food is excellent too).

Nice enough pub but quite poor room

Very small room (Room 1 single) with tiny bathroom up a step . Tiny shower with floppy shower head. Soft bed mattress. Paper thin walls .. you could literally hear everything ! Nice beer garden although a little spoilt by staff accommodation caravans.

The food here is brilliant. We’ve had the excellent sausage and mash several times before. We’ve had it again. Also, some other dishes which were very tasty. The breakfasts are also plentiful and tasty. Location wise, The boot inn is a great base to explore.

Oldy worldy pub in a lovely setting

It was at a great location, and it was nice oldy worldy pub, breakfast was lovely and they even provided fresh milk for tea and coffee in the bedroom if you asked for it. Great value stay, I will go again in the future.

Overall I had a good stay and would consider coming back.

The staff mainly seems to be a group of Romanian women who are well organised, cheerful and attentive. They made me feel welcome on my arrival. There is a good old English pub feel in the bar. The food is typical pub food. More or less ok but given a good thrashing in the deep fryer/ microwave/ grill etc to make sure it never moves again. Good range of beers and reasonably priced wines.

My main gripe ( I was in room1) was the alarming deficiency of sound insulation whether noise from the bar downstairs or more particularly, from the adjoining room no2. During the night, I could hear everything from room2. Fortunately the person was considerate and civilised but even so, be it when he quietly cleared his throat or walked across his room or opened a cupboard, I heard it. Presumably he could hear me just as clearly! Definitely I would recommend a better quality of wall partition and please, on no account, put TVs in the rooms!! Also if it allows, don't put guests in adjacent rooms, if there are spare ones down the corridor.

Dog friendly, great food, amazing staff

Food and the menu is outstanding. It’s a busy pub/restaurant with super friendly staff. I felt immediately at home, even as a solo traveler. I’ve never been to a more dog friendly place, my labrador Rocky loved it here. He was welcome in all areas and loved meeting everyone. I was off on an early hike, but Stuart the owner made me a bacon sandwich at 7.30 (30 mins before breakfast) so I could leave for 8am. I didn’t even have to ask, the staff offered and it was really helpful and shows how they go above and beyond for everyone. I had a single room and it was beautiful - plenty of room for my dog and his bed, and a really comfy bed. I can’t wait to stay here again!
