Unforgettable memories and experiences

I travelled with my son and we were delighted. The staff was so friendly and caring, the facilities perfect, the bedrooms comfortable and clean and the food that they provide in the menu excellent. The staff was the best and would love to mention Emma for her attention and support. Thank you so much x

Nice Youth Hostel with decent facilities

We stayed here for two nights and the location is superb if you intend exploring the area around Wasdale and Wast Water. During our journey we encountered a late road closure, which meant a long stressful detour and a dark drive over Hardknott Pass. We spoke with a member of staff we were going to be late and she proved to be very friendly, informing us she would wait for us to arrive before leaving for the night. Top marks for customer service. The kitchen and lounge areas are quite large and facilities were all provided. Everything was clean and our beds were comfortable and warm. Parking was at a premium, but having that said, we were clearly the last to arrive and we managed to squeeze in to one remaing spot. Overall, a nice place to stay and I would happily return.

The showers I tried only provided a slow trickle of water. They were warm and did the job, but took twice as long as they should. It would be nice if these could be improved. As described, we had issues on route and I do wonder what would happen if we had been just a little later. Whilst the staff were understanding, this may not have been the case if we had been much later. I cannot understand why YHA could not provide a secure keybox outside witha regularly changing passcode to cover events like this.

A spontaneous one night visit to the Lakes that turned to three it was so good!

The beautiful property is set in a secluded spot looking onto the lake. The staff are very welcoming and it feels like a home from home the minute you arrive. The restaurant serves great home cooked food there’s a bar and lovely lunge with a grand fireplace to relax. As a base to explore the area you’d be hard pushed to find anything that accommodates multi generations so well and better value!

Beautiful old building overlooking the mountains with a large well equipped kitchen and games room.

After checkout you HAVE to leave the property and are not even allowed to sit in the common room, which meant my friend, who had to wait untill 3pm for a a lift home, was made to sit outside with no access to a toilette for 5 hours.

Male shared dorm comfy bed and room mate were lovely. I turned the light off and they accepted it at 11pm so very happy.

Hostel was locked up and closed when we arrived, despite making multiple attempts to contact them. Ended up sleeping in our car in the car park.

Geheimtipp!!!

Eine Kleinod direkt am See. Fantastische Lage, freundliches Personal und sehr sauber. Wir waren mit unseren beiden kleinen Kindern da und auch den hat es sehr gut gefallen. Frühstück war auch sehr lecker. Wir lieben englisches Frühstück. Parkplatz kostenlos und direkt am Haus. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und empfehlen die Unterkunft absolut weiter.
