A fab city find!

Lovely clean and comfortable room. Couldn't fault the room at all and a lovely surprise bottle of prosecco left for us. Very helpful staff, clear instructions to access the room. Perfect for a night away.

A shame there was a private function in the bar. Managed to have a couple of drinks, which were great but found the toilets dirty.

Not for me

The interior of the room.

The location, the dodgy entrance and hallways, the noise, even the cracking floor and door (every move in the building was heard via the door or the ceiling or the window. The door key didn't work on Sunday. I guess it's a good match for the guests of the bar who want to stay over but not for travellers for work or vacation.

Great for a weekend away.

The communication was great. Jess was so friendly and helpful. As were all the staff. The very clean room was lovely, huge comfy bed, big TV and a great shower. Close to shops, cafes and bars. Parking nearby at St Clements car park. Oranges and Lemon pub, excellent food as was The Kasbah. Both a few minutes walk.

The area. It appeared very unkempt, lots of rubbish, including an old mattress on the pavement nearby. (Rubbish not from venue)

It was perfect. The location is great

Lovely staff and great amenities. We stayed on a Monday so we didn’t experience the room when the bar is open but the staff was so lovely and the communication very smooth. Highly recommend!

No staff on site at all and bar not open on a Sunday. There is contact available with staff though in the way of WhatsApp, so any queries you just message them.

Lovely decorated and well spacious room

The size and decoration of the room was amazing. The coffee machine was a lovely touch. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely.

A dressing table would be beneficial to the bedroom as I had to do my makeup in the bathroom and I had to do my hair on the floor. More coffee pods would be amazing as we love our coffee in the morning

Windows open on arrival so room was very cold, you have to text to get the radiators put on (no personal control). Narrow stairs up to the rooms that are very narrow and scuffed. No desk.

It fulfilled our need and was as described.

All we sought was a clean and reasonably comfortable en-suite room for the night and we got it. We had nos staff contact whatever but the on-line arrangement was easy to operate even for us in our eighties and proved reliable.

At least some human contact would have been nice.

Superb!

Great location; close enough to the city centre to walk but far enough away to escape the crowds and hustle and bustle. Room was clean, well presented and comfortable. The establishment was quirky… but in a good way. Alice in Wonderland themed decor was brilliant!

No breakfast, but that was made clear before we arrived. Also, there is a karaoke bar below which could present noise issues but we stayed Sunday to Tuesday and it was closed - if you are staying Wednesday onwards it might be an issue. Two flights of stairs to get to our room; not a problem for us but if you have mobility issues it may cause problems.

Literary space in a literary town

The theme was perfectly curated and absolutely Oxford. It felt completely authentic. The room decor successfully incorporated truly original features without going overboard on cute. Like living in the book but with all the convenience of a modern guesthouse. The perfect location was adjacent to the city center- easy walk without being in the middle of the congestion. The owner was super helpful and welcoming. He waived the cover charge for the jazz night in the bar downstairs, which is also decorated in the whimsically funky style of Alice in Wonderland.

We didn't mind, but someone with mobility issues would struggle on the stairs. It wasn't overwhelming but at times you could hear the music from the downstairs bar. We had been told about that in advance and were given earplugs which were unnecessary.

Poor value

Conveniently located, quirky rooms

Noisy karaoke room inside the hotel, noisy pub downstairs, noisy road outside. Bright street lights outside with poor quality curtains meaning the room was very bright. Hot water in the shower ran out after 5 minutes each time. Not worth the £147 i paid and would not stay again.

Access was tricky because there was no parking available and a busy street. Lots of stairs to navigate if carrying suitcases.

Loved the themed rooms. They were very unique and fun. Room was immaculately clean with great attention to detail. Offered by staff to assist with luggage up the stairs if needed. We’re able to have a bite to eat downstairs with the added bonus of a great nights karaoke entertainment.

Affordable & convenient

The room was really clean + well presented, very spacious and modern. The decor was lovely and we also had access to a TV where we could log into Netflix etc.. There was also a fan in the room!

We checked in during opening hours so it was very busy downstairs, we had to ring a doorbell to get in which wasn't clear on the instructions given. The staff we did encounter were friendly enough but when the bar shuts you are essentially left to your own devices. This means your room doesn't get made up or restocked etc.. The bar area and stairs were quite unclean and grubby and just be warned that karaoke goes on into the small hours on some nights - this was mentioned when booking but we were on the third floor and could still hear it! I had also mentioned on the booking it was my birthday but this isnt something they commemorate.

Great location. Loved the decor and finishing touches. Friendly and helpful staff. Despite warnings about potential noise we didn’t notice any and weren’t disturbed at all (Wed and Thurs). Really appreciated the prompt response to our request for an extra fan, and initial issues with the Wifi were sorted really quickly.

Due to the hot weather, our room was quite warm but the additional fan helped a lot.
