Decor of room was very good. Bed comfortable and shower facilities good.
Mentioned to Receptionist that had seen a rat running around the bin store outside and the foyer area did have a very unusual/unpleasant smell.

Great location, room very clean and comfortable
Being allocated a room with an accessible bathroom, this was not required and reminded me of some recent hospital stays after surgeries, quite triggering. Would not want this again

The breakfast was acceptable and the hotel is in a good.location
There was a smell of drains on the ground floor and in the rooms on the top floor. In the morning there was no water which wasn't the fault of the hotel but all we were offered was a bottle of water as a goodwill gesture. Luckily it didn't cause me too much inconvenience but for someone there perhaps for an interview not being able to shower could have been challenging. I was also cold in the lounge. Without a phone in the room to call reception I had to get dressed to go down to report the water problem and find out what was happening. I dont understand why these have been removed and it is age discriminatory to only have QR codes to gain information about the hotel facilities.

Really lovely room, comfy bed and great shower. Coffee machine provided in room as well as towelling robe and slippers - much appreciated!
Breakfast was a buffet of mid quality - better breakfasts available in cafes nearby.

Nice room, great location close to the city centre. Easy booking process and paid on arrival.
Check in process was woefully inefficient. 10mins wait for three people in front of us. Lots of shuffling a pieces of pre-printed forms that didn't appear to have been sorted into any order. One staff member left to manage all checking in customers while other staff members wandered past the reception desk without helping. Price quoted for breakfast nearly double what we paid in a nearby cafe.

This was so much better than expected. The check in was smooth and efficient. The rooms were perfect and I’m a little fussy!
Warm, cosy, views, and just the right amount of bougie! On leaving they helped with the bags and bought the car around as the driveway is very tight. Great staff/management and I haven’t even started on the location. Oh! it’s also part of the Oxford Ghost Tour but I’ll keep quiet about that!!👻
Should have stayed longer.

Location is good. Staff at check-in were cheerful and welcoming.
The hotel reception was nice, but on settling into the room I found it to be tiny, cold, and in a state of disrepair. The wardrobe shelf was thick with dust which turned my black travel bag white, there were stains and condensation marks on the walls, the hot water was very slow to arrive and even then just barely above body temperature, the automatic key mechanism had been so roughly cut into the old door that there were exposed splinters where your fingers needed to go, and the the last paint job was so careless that the frames on the walls had paint on them. The hot breakfast was not hot, one of the hotplates was broken, the scrambled eggs were grey/blue, the coffee was provided from an urn like we were camping (and was cold), and the restaurant staff were silent or absent entirely. The wifi did not have even basic password security such that on trying to log in to do some work, my company system would not allow access due to the security risks. Very disappointing to have paid Mercure prices for what is unfortunately a very basic, old, and dirty motel. Definitely not a four-star establishment as advertised.

Breakfast was a good selection however was pricy especially when being charged for a child the same prices as an adult. The hotel room was comfortable and loved the coffee machine as an added bonus. Appreciated the early check in which was complementary.
Windows not able to open despite being quite warm at times.

Room was small but very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities with water in the fridge. Shower room small but good powerful shower. Overall good - expensive but location was amazing.
Would love to have had the ability to turn the bedside lamp on without having to have the ceiling spotlight on!
Also have biscuits or a snack in the room at lots of other hotels and this would have been nice.

Good location and friendly staff.
1. very difficult to adjust the room temperature. Only one window opened, a fraction. On arrival the radiators were set to full heat, but were inactive. When I returned from evening out, they were on, but the room was still cold. By the middle of the night it was intolerably hot in the room.
2. understaffed for breakfast. Very slow to clear tables, so unfinished plates and dirty cutlery left lying around.
3. coffee and lukewarm buffet breakfast (including barely warm, sloppy scrambled egg) not particularly appealing.
4. slightly frayed and non-fresh smelling carpets in the hallways.

Lift
Unexpected stairs along 2nd floor corridor to my room so had to get case up and down them - will need to ask not to be on second floor again!
Strong sickly smell in foyer all the time I was there - don’t remember that - very unpleasant!
Bed incredibly soft mattress - felt like it may have needed an upgrade- other rooms stayed in, in the past have had firmer mattresses!

Lovely, location was brilliant. The hotel rooms are stunning nice and spacious
There wasn’t really a bar you could relax in for a drink. It was more of a Restuarant.
No parking was disappointing.

our room 111 was very noisy at night despite the secondary glazing.

Have stayed many times and despite best efforts of the very professional staff, the place is going downhill. No atmosphere, tired rooms and seemed empty for a Friday night. A real shame
No food served after 10pm. Lack of any atmosphere. Tiny car park and hugely overpriced, but as is now much of Oxford and hotels

When we asked for a new room, they responded positively. Bar tender was friendly
Room was not safe. Roof buttresses towered over the bed and the lone chair. Too easy to conk your head. The electrical work was faulty, flickering lights, burned up the hotel hair dryer. New room was much better but mold and mildew in bathroom tanked its improvement over the first room

Great first impression from the smell and welcoming staff. That continued and it was a very pleasant stay.

Good location
Courteous staff
If management thinks that they will achieve great savings by using super small glasses at breakfast I have to disagree.
House keeping knocked at my door 1 hour before the checkout time to ask if I check out. I think that they should rather speak to the receptionist not the guests.
