Perfect weekend break

Had a brilliant stay here for a weekend break. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Extra tea/coffee etc if needed. Breakfast and pub grub was delicious. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Check in and check out was seamless. Local to shops, restaurants, bars and Bowness Pier. Would definitely stay again!

Owner and staff were excellent, really helpful and friendly. Bed was really comfy. Couldn’t have picked a better location for the lake. Literally a 5minute walk. Breakfast was delicious - made to order so was hot.

The staff member (lady) blonde hair was fabulous she put us at ease straight away after telling us we parked perfectly as the parking is extremely narrow

Whilst taking our baggage out of the car after booking in what only we could of initially assumed was a random person telling us to move our vehicle ad it needed to be on the exact line up for parking was a little worrying until we spoke to the original lovely lady that the man telling us this was in fact the manager was very concerning my husband did not want to stay here as his approach and also demour was very frosty We stayed 2 nights and to be fair after the initial none welcome it was a nice stay but if you want peace, tranquility and a quiet stay I would probably not choose this particular inn as the the bar next door was like a permanent nightclub! If you want a lovely meal, drink and chat about the heritage then definitely go to the Royal Oak

The breakfast was very average. The floor in the room had holes in it and covered with old carpet. The floor needs to be addressed. Because there was no double glazed windows there was a lot of road noise.

Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Good choice and reasonably priced dinner and drinks menu. Lovely old world building in a brilliant location.

Parking was precarious, but a welcome bonus due to location. Although the room was clean overall, there were old spiders webs in the corners of the ceiling and walls.

Breakfast was fantastic. We stayed in the budget room. The bed was cosy and the room was nice for a little getaway. The only thing was the room was absolutely boiling hot!! Not sure if this was due to being on the top floor. Staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcomed as soon as we arrived. Other than the room being a tad hot we both absolutely loved our little trip and will 100% be back! . Thankyou

Excellent location & high quality service.

Location is excellent. Staffs respond to our needs rapidly. As we come to the inn during peak seasons, car park is headache issue but the inn reserve parking for own residents. Lastly, breakfast is amazing… coffee is really nice with full set of traditional English breakfast.

The host Angie was there to welcome you and very attentive, you can tell the business has been going for a long time as they have everything running smoothly and every detail thought of. The breakfast was spot on and absolutely delicious with fresh coffee and the room was spotless. Parking was easy and right in the centre to everything, would definitely book again without hesitation.

Basic room but not great value for money

Very small bathroom, the toilet only just fitted into the space, if you were are larger person you wouldn't have been able to fit on the toilet, we found it uncomfortable and we are not large people, we only paid £10 per night less than our friends and their room was twice the size

Location was fantastic, staff friendly and food was good.

WiFi very unreliable. Bathroom in dire need of a refurb - mould on ceiling and shower enclosure. Small gap between toilet and shower screen stained with urine splashes! Thick layer of dust/dirt on skirting board. Kettle had to be placed on floor in order to be plugged in. Pre advised dietary requirements of non dairy when booking but no alternative available at breakfast.

Excellent pub/hotel, very reasonable price, brilliant location, lovely staff, food served.

A lovely older pub (with accommodation) right near the main streets, and approx. a 6 minute walk to the Lake - an excellent location, and luckily it was also (somehow!) the cheapest we found! Owners Ang and Stu were really welcoming and helpful, and were kind enough to spend time talking to my uncle (who suffered a stroke a few years ago). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The breakfast was included, and was very nice. Clara (the lovely cleaning lady) helped us find a few items which we'd misplaced in the rooms (e.g. door-key, glasses!) so a special thank you to her :-) There were ten of us (family) staying there, in all different sized rooms. There are fans in each room (if needed), and can be found in the wardrobes or cupboard. Rooms were very clean, and the beds are SO COMFORTABLE - we had to ask where they got their mattresses from! We all had a good night's sleep, and didn't notice any noise from the road or street nearby, despite having the windows open at night. The only thing I feel worth a mention (for the awareness of people with limited mobility/disabilities) is that there are flights of stairs to get up to the rooms, as all rooms are either on the first or second floor. There is no lift, but that can't be helped with the older style and design of building. The pub bar had a good choice of drinks, and some of us had the roast dinner on a Sunday, which was delicious. We highly recommend this pub/hotel, and are already talking about coming back! Thank you to The Royal Oak staff for making our holiday one to remember! x

Nice pub stay. Convenient location

Convenient location close to the lake and boat cruises. Plenty of eating choices close by including the hotel itself. I had the meat and potato pie - it was delicious. Breakfast was also delicious. Even though it’s a busy pub it closes before 10pm so was not noisy at bedtime. Room was clean and bright.

Access into the bathroom and shower requires the skills of Houdini - it’s very tight until you learn to open the door fully before going in.

Beautiful old building in an amazing location. Lovely greeting by a lady describing the pub and breakfast times etc. Nice comfortable room with lovely view from the bay window. Very nice cooked breakfast included with price. Car parking space reserved for a double room.

The only thing that was a slight dissapointment was the car parking. As checkout as 10:30 and new guest check in was 15:00, Ideally I was wanting to leave the car untill just before 3 but was told this was not possible. I can understand why, just meant I had to head down the road to a car park as we wanted to spend more time by the lake. But this wasn’t a big issue and car parking is limited at the hotel so it’s sort of understandable.
