Amazing skiing in a winter wonderland up in the Slovenian mountains

We love the one-of-a-kind location, we love the chalet, we love the fact that when we came in February, there was a ton on snow to ski on and that the chalet literally sits next to the ski slope on a very strategic spot. The staff is truly very attentive and friendly.

If you love total silence during your sleep and hate squeaky floors, go to a concrete hotel in the valley. (next time, we will avoid arriving on a weekend, especially in morning hours - parking spaces at the base station of the gondola are rather limited; but if you purchase a day ticket, you can use the gondola in the afternoon to re-park your car)

Gorgeous views at this cozy mountain chalet!

Loved my stay at Chalet Burja. There’s something super special about being up at Vogel after all the visitors have taken the last gondola down to Bohinj. The chalet was lovely and cozy, staff were so friendly and took good care of all the guests! Dinners and breakfast were huge and delicious! Definitely recommend a stay here! Breakfast outside with the view was a real highlight along we starting out on the trials early before the crowds. Just remember to bring drinking water up with you or buy small bottles.

Cosy, clean mountain cabin with friendly staff

My family spent there four winter days skiing and enjoying snow. The smallness of the family room was rewarded by extremely friendly owner and staff, as well as the family atmosphere! We can't wait to return there!

Nice and relaxed stay up in the mountains

Great location, loved staying up on the mountain. One day we hiked to Vogel, the other day to Rodica. The cottage is lovely, the rooms are newly furbished. The breakfast was ok.

For dinner there was not much choice, especially on week-days. The staff was not very professional, they did not make guests feel welcomed.

Just amazing place and chalet :). Amazing atmosphere and absolutely great food and drink (breakfast, lunch, dinner, ...). Hosts were very kind, helpful, they cared about everything, nothing was problem. Room was clean and cosy. We will recommend Burja to everyone and we will definitely be back in winter or summer :)

Shortly: Cosy and comfy happy place.

Breakfast was good, eggs of own choice, juices, oats, bread, toast, sweet and salty, like a typical german Brotzeit. Fresh fruit would be an add on. Fantastic coffee. Great wine. Sauna was offered. Music was played live (accordion). Awesome team and very good conversations. Definitely memories for the books!

The weatherforecast ;-) There is no potable water, so make sure to bring enough water, else it will quickly get pricey in the mountains.

A home in the mountains

The Chalet is placed really close to the cabel car, which makes it easy to access even with luggage (though you need to carry it the last bit). The staff is super friendly and makes you feel really taken care of. You can hang out both inside, which is extremely cosy, and outside with the amazing view. With really good authentic food (there are also alternatives) the whole stay is very pleasant!

Most of the staff were very friendly, one of the chefs even played piano accordion for us while we ate outside. Great location to access free chairlift and hike up to the peaks.

We had the cheapest room in the place booked at last minute , tiny room, really tiny bathroom.

Disappointment all the way

The bar and chill areas are very cosy! During winter must be even better!

Stress already during check-in: confusion about our room, the beds would not be ready until 5 pm and the key to the room was lost. The room was a duplex with matrasses on the floor. The restaurant has only limited dishes (our day only pork) and at 8 pm there was nothing left while you're on a mountain with no other place to go. We went hungry to bed, still no key to the room. Sleeping wasn't an option; a staff party went on till 5 am. After those experience we decided to check out a day earlier without refund.

Slovenian style rustic ski chalet in beautiful and peaceful mountain location

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to get away from it all! I wanted to be up on the mountain and enjoy some peace with great views. It had that. I was able to start hiking right away in the morning. The chalet provides that old school Slovenian ski chalet vibe. It’s a great way to connect with others there including local Slovenians and the guests, or if you want to go on your own and have quiet, that is possible too. They were also able to accommodate my vegetarian requests. Each room has its own bathroom.

Nothing- guests should know that this is a mountain chalet and it has stairs- it could likely not accommodate those with certain disabilities.

Great host, food, and location. So nice to be able to experience sunset and sunrise over Lake Bohinj with no one else around!

There's no potable water at the chalet. We had a water filter but the taste was still pretty unpleasant, so we didn't have as much sweet water as we'd have liked for hiking.

Most beautiful environment around the accomodation we have ever seen. Just imagine all visitors use the cabel car to spend only minutes at this place, but we could spent 2 nights at Burja. The accomodation is excellent with a very friendly owner. We enjoyed every minutes there. The breakfast was also great. We will definitely come back again with our friends to respend this unbelivable journey at this beautiful place. Thank you a lot again

A dream of a cabin in the mountains

This chalet was just incredible. We booked the place just a few hours before our arrival, spontaneously deciding to go skying, but our hosts were perfectly prepared. Upon arrival, we were quickly asked to join the diner, which we gladly agreed to. We had an amazing (unexpected) 3 course meal. The next morning, there was a great breakfast arranged for us. We then went skying, with the hosts lending us most of their gear, as we were seriously underprepared and undergeared. Upon exiting the chalet, you are directly on the piste, so no need to travel. This place in in the middle of everything! What an experience, what a hospitality, wow! I can seriously recommend this place, both the chalet and the ski resort. We will certainly return!
