A great wee hotel in the centre of Portree.

Lovely if a bit basic warm friendly well situated hotel in the centre of Portree. We’d definitely return. Great breakfast. Really friendly and helpful staff.

A very comfortable stay in a central but quiet location.

A comfortable, quiet room, a very good breakfast and pleasant, helpful staff in a convenient location.

The towel rail was the only source of bathroom heating and did not heat up and the shower fluctuated between cool and too hot. At checkout we were assured that both would be checked.

Comfortable and convenient location - highly recommend

We had a very comfortable stay at the Caledonian. The rooms were very clean and warm - which was lovely given the cold weather outside. The location was great for exploring the Isle of Skye and the parking space at the back of the accomodation made things very convenient. We did struggle to get into the parking space when the roads were icy as we did not have a 4WD or snow tires. There are no lifts but there are only around six steps to the rooms from the back door by the parking lot. There were a lot of options provided for breakfast and everything was delicious. Everyone was incredibly nice and we really enjoyed our stay.

My sister and I absolutely loved the staff. They were wonderful! Room was great! We very much enjoyed our breakfast that we had and it was a good location for walking around.

Water pressure in shower could have been a little better but it was fine all the same.

The stay was excellent.

The place was hard to find. The address given was not correct. I am not sure who to blame, the hotel or booking.com. All it said was Wentworth Street, Portree, no door number anything. booking.com is not going to be in my favorites list any more as I did not have a great experience with them alone this time.

The staff was very good. The person who greeted us knew the place very well and helped us go to all the places in a short time but cover everythiing.

What a lovely hotel in the middle of Portree. The owners are super lovely. Had some long conversations with the senior boss. The room was very spacious and clean. So was the bathroom. Breakfast was also very lovely and huge. Lots of choices. I love places with character and this house has some for sure.

The room was very clean and well set out. The bed and pillows were very very comfortable! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Having parking directly behind the hotel was great. The breakfast was very tasty and they had a lot of variety.

The breakfast was excellent. My, that guy can cook a mean poached egg. The hotel is situated right at the heat of Portree. Minimal parking at rear of property but no problem for our motorcycle. The hotel was comfortable and clean. We were happy with our stay.

Comfy, cosy and fantastic Location

Had a lovely stay in the Caledonian. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome by Thomas. Our rooms were great, comfortable and clean. Fantastic location. Shops, cafes and restaurants right at the door step. We left to early for breakfast but everything looked delicious. Highly recommend!

Isle of Skye, top place to stay The Caledonian.

The staff were really polite and happy to help going over and above. Thomas was very helpful, sorting out parking and trying to get us another night, if not there somewhere else local. Room was lovely and breakfast was great, scrambled eggs exceptional.

The fact that we booked for one night and left it too late , to get a second night !

Very nice owner Thomas, he helped us with a lot of patience, room adequate and clean and comfy, new restroom, very clean, beds are very well equipped, helpful and friendly stuff. The owners do this business with heart and as guest you can feel that.

Actually nothing, maybe the breakfast could have some more fruits. And the shower a little more pressure, but this is cosmetic and doesn't influence on the great stay you will have there

Great location in Portree - handy for everything. Breakfast was excellent, served in their attractive dining area, with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.

The cost was quite high, given the fairly small room, but still competitive for Skye, where prices generally have risen as the demand at the moment is high. The decor was neutral - nothing to dislike, but a picture or two on the wall would be nice.

Great stay except shower which was very disapointing.

Excellent! I would happily stay again

Excellent! The room is basic but comfortable, and the bathroom and shower in particular were fantastic! Roomy, modern, nicely styled and spotlessly clean. Wifi is free and works quite well, some of the best we’ve had travelling in the Highlands though you won’t get far streaming with it etc. Hosts left kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits out for us, which were well appreciated. Breakfast was tasty, nice range of options available! Staff were also helpful and extremely personable.

My only gripe here is the lack of plug sockets available- we were camping for part of the trip so needed to recharge a number of devices and there aren’t quite enough sockets if you need to charge more than two things at a time.
