Perfect location for views and proximity to the centre of Portree

The proximity to the centre of Portree is excellent along with the views from the majority of the bedrooms. There were a few of us staying in the hotel for a birthday party and the variety of room types helps

The bar / restaurant was closed albeit we were made aware of this after our booking and before arrival. The fact that there are so many options on the doorstep doesnt make this a big issue, coupled with the help from the hotel pre-arrival giving us options.

A comfortable room undermined by an unfair and poorly managed incident that resulted in eviction and disputed charges.

The location in Portree is convenient, and the room itself was clean and comfortable on arrival.

The handling of an incident during my stay was extremely poor. Steam from a hot shower in a bathroom with no window triggered a fire alarm. Staff initially inspected the room and confirmed there was no fire or smoke. Despite this, I was later instructed to leave the property late at night in a remote location and subsequently charged a significant penalty and for unused nights. Allegations were made without evidence being shown at the time, and the situation was not investigated or discussed reasonably the following day. The approach taken felt disproportionate, unfair, and distressing.

The room had wet carpet. No idea what was going on there. We were offered free breakfast as compensation. The bathroom was small and had a shower curtain. Parking could be an issue.

Disappointing experience

Good location

Our experience at this accommodation was disappointing. First of all, the room was not cleaned, as we were later told that a sign had to be placed before 9:00 a.m. We were not informed of this at check-in, there was a sign in the room but we didn’t see it, and when we reported that the room had not been serviced, no alternative or solution was offered. In addition, the bed was very noisy and creaked constantly, which made it difficult to rest properly. The walls had visible marks and damage, giving an overall impression of poor maintenance. Finally, we paid an additional €15 per person for breakfast, which was not worth the price at all. The food quality was poor and it even made us feel unwell.

Thin walls, lots of knocking noises at night (I assumed it was the heating), strong smell of chlorine when I checked into my room. I feel like it’s overpriced.

Seaside hotel

Great location in Portree with a lovely seaside village feel about it. All room facilities were satisfactory.

Disappointed that the restaurant was closed temporarily when we got there for dinner. Breakfast was available the next morning. Nothing is real fancy at this hotel but has everything you need. Reception staff could be a bit happier. Parking is challenging but fortunately for us we got a park last minute in the marina. With a renovation this could be a fantastic hotel and probably was once.

Great location BUT narrow hall and steep and narrow stairs. We were allocated large room, with sea view, on 2nd floor. Great location for access to the many local restaurants

Bathroom - there was a shower attachment but hose too short to use if you were standing…you would have to kneel in bath to use (room 14). We were lucky to have shower as the hotel only confirmed bath, so at least it was easy to wash hair! Hotel has very very limited parking…long stay car park close by but accessed via steep steps up to town, short walk across town, then down steep steps or slope to get to hotel.

Great view, stay somewhere else

Great views if Portree Harbour. Rooms comfortable and clean but dated. Living off its location.

Staff were extremely unhelpful. Dinner was cancelled without prior notice and email sent 30 minutes before reservation. No notice that luggage could be brought through from street saving a torturous drive and many stairs.

No operational restaurant or bar, so don’t think they can call it a hotel. Very disappointed! Room 17 very damp, so much so, a dehumidifier in the room! Room 15, shower head in bath with no screen, difficult to operate and not soak bathroom!

Stunning view and location.

The charm of the old fisherman cottages made into a hotel. The location was awesome. Right on the harbour and the view from our room, gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. So recommend staying here.

Very outdated furniture and facilities. Nowhere to put clothes (just 4 hangers in a wardrobe and no drawers), so I couldn't unpack.. Lots of stairs with no lift - difficult with heavy suitcases. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for the whole of our stay.

Good position but unfortunate condition

It was on the harbour side so we could watch the activity of the various boats and cruise ships using the harbour. It was also within easy reach of the shops and restaurants in the town, although the steep slope up to the town could be difficult for some. Breakfast was adequate (but not extensive) and taken looking at the view and the harbour activity.

It was very run down. Our room (and much of the stairs/landings) had wallpaper lifting from the walls, a bath that could not be used because a non-slip bath mat was not provided even when requested, an extremely small unheated rail to hang towels, no drawers to put clothes away, a storage heater that was not working/turned on & the smallest oil filled radiator in lieu. On arrival the access road to the hotel was closed because of a harbour-side event. No message had been sent informing us so we had to phone to find out what was going on. We then had to park in the public car park and drag suitcases through the town. On check in we were told the restaurant was closed in the evenings (family emergency apparently!!) contrary to what was advertised. The cost of over £200 per night was exorbitant considering these issues.

Perfection location with a sea view of the harbour. Easy to roam around isle of skye due to the location. The staff were really kind, food was great and large rooms.

Wonderful stay in Portree!

Such lovely, friendly girls who looked after us in the bar and restaurant. Room and bed were very comfortable. Stunning view overlooking the water from our room. Wonderful having a restaurant on site.

The need to park car in a paid, open overnight car park 5-10 mins away.. but everything else made up for it… especially location. We also knew this before booking.
