A fantastic room in the very heart of Portree

My room was very very well appointed. Clean, fresh, well designed. Lovely bed linen, great walk in shower, fridge provided. Felt quite luxurious. There is no reception but joining instructions via messages were clear and timely, so no issues at all.

The external door requires each guest to lock after arriving or leaving. When I was there, they didn’t! This means that the security of the building itself through the external door is not as good as it could be. If the door had self locking fittings when it closed, the issue would be solved. Doors to the rooms themselves were of course still personally lockable. And lots of steps! Be aware from the car it’s a climb down, not an issue for me but maybe more difficult for some. The stairs were well lit when dark.

The location and the property is amazing. The rooms are stunning and extremely comfortable. The rooms are asthetically done and are extremely cozy.

If you have heavy luggage then it’s a little difficult as one needs to stairs to get to the property.

Recently renovated to a very high standard. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Great bathroom, shower strong and hot. Illuminated makeup mirrors. Helpful owners are nearby. Would return to stay next time.

Stepped pathway down to the property may be an issue for very elderly or someone lacking in basic mobility. Fine for guests with average fitness.

Very good, but…..

The bed is very comfortable , pillows , towels and toiletries were excellent. As was the shower room. Coffee/tea /fridge facilities were very nice design but could do with another shelf. The main entrance and room have been done to a high standard and the property Is very warm and bright . Staff when we needed them were very helpful and friendly.

The only entrance /exit is via the stairs at the rear of the building. Not for the faint hearted, elderly or infirm. Especially at night in winter months. The night lights are just not enough when it’s raining, and there is loose gravel And wet leaves on the stairs. The broken handrail should have been fixed the day It broke. The patio seating is great but no lighting around this area or bin. The room was beautiful, but very small and I was disappointed there wasn’t even room for a chair. For the price I would have expected this. A coat hook on back of door would be good, as the wardrobe was very small and cluttered. The property next door has a spotlight on all night shining into room 3 and for me the curtains Didn’t block it out. A window blind would help.

Loved the comfortable and clean room in Portree. Perfect for a Skye home base!

The location was great! Very walkable to all of Portree. The room was beautifully decorated and spotless. We loved the coffee and tea tray also. The owners were very responsive, and so helpful returning clothing we’d left in the closet 🙁 The restaurant below was excellent, with amazing pizza!

The walk to the parking area was a little bit of a hike, but good exercise 😊

Soundproofing wasn’t the best. There was quite a bit of noise from the pubs/eateries till about 12 midnight.

Perfect spot for the happy tourists!

Great location in the centre of Portree. Was perfect for us as we like get up and go. It is above a couple of restaurants so it does get noisy up until 1030pm. We thoroughly enjoyed the room and recommend it.

Carparking is behind the building, and you will have to walk up and down stairs to get to the room.

Overall a good stay

The room was great, very clean and we loved the decor and the location. Having really nice coffee in the room was a nice touch too.

We felt that for £250 a night the room is very overpriced as the room was quite small and its not a five star hotel, i appreciate it was August but I wouldn't pay that price again.

Luxurious room close to the centre of town!

Very new room in the heart of Portree! Window seat was extra charming. Just a luxurious room to come back to after a day of adventuring around the island! The property was very quick to respond to messages!

The perfect new place to stay in the very center of Portree, making Skye touring readily accessible.

Very comfortable, warm, and inviting sleeping suite with large bathroom - all recently renovated. Vibe was Scandinavian chic in furnishings and style. Spacious private parking. Thoughtful high-end touches throughout such as 2 power converters, designer tea kettle, ceramic cups, and good-sized refrigerator. Local co-op grocery storm is right around the corner, making extra eat-in breakfast supplies easy to acquire. Wonderfully comfortable bed, chairs, and multi-function desk/table.

The rear pathway is perfectly navigable but fairly long and steep.

Amazing accomodations in the center of Portree, Isle of Skye

Somerled House was the perfect location for us to fully immerse ourselves in the Portree Isle of Skye experience! Our amazing room overlooking Somerled Square was wonderful and very convenient to all things Portree. Would definitely stay there again!

It was ok. Close enough to town and easy parking.

Beautifully clean

It was much smaller than expected, and there were a lot of steps to get down to the property but that was mentioned in the blurb. It was also very warm as the heating was turned up and we were way too hot. Nicola did give us some tips to cool the place but the heating we couldn’t control.

This rental was adequate but not exceptional. It was clean and comfortable.and priced for the area.

The location was excellent and the room was clean and very comfortable.

I never met a staff member (was left a key in a lockbox). While there were linens and towels, there was no coffee pot or other niceties provided (no shampoo, conditioner, soap in the shower) and since no coffee shops opened until 9 am, this made for a difficult morning for those of us who like to get up early and get going.

It was very clean and crisply designed. Recent renovations were very well done. Bed was comfortable. The location Pertree was fantastic. Just a short walk down the hill put you into town center. Parking space was great.

One thing people should know is that the parking space and total access to the unit is from above. One must carry all of their luggage down, meandering short staircases down the hill to enter. This was not a problem for us as we are able-bodied. But one should be aware. There is no air-conditioning, but a fan is provided.

This was a building with individual apts. appears brand new, very quit and clean. Very comfortable bed and a just steps to adorable shopping and coffee shops and restaurants. It’s a great place, we would stay here again.

We had a difficult time finding the building, because its actually in the back is a building. We also weren’t aware that there were a lot of stairs down to the building. If you don’t do stairs easily, this won’t be a great place to stay. Luckily, it didn’t hinder us to much carrying all our luggage, but it is not an easy path.

Great location in Portree.

The room was lovely and had plenty of amenities. It was a happy surprise to find a small fridge, since I’m traveling with meds. It was an easy walk down to the center of the town and close to a COOP store for last minute things.

The amount of stairs to get down to the property was a surprise - didn’t show up that well in the pictures.

Access to the rooms is very difficult. Not suited to people who have a lot of luggage and struggle with quite a few stairs.

Comfortable but poor scheduling system and a bad owner.

Although The room was clean and comfortable and The support staff was very courteous, Nick (Nicola) failed to send me a confirmation and welcome with entry details. Another guest called the property manager for my information who had to contact Nick for the room information because I was not on the arrival list. Nick sent me the room information without an apology (Booking.com was no help either when i contacted them). To make matters worse, the room did not have a refrigerator as advertised. When i contacted Nick about it, no apology was given for not having one (but he did leave an ice bucket (w/ no ice) at my door the following day). In all, Nick dropped the ball or punted this reservation into the stands.

Per the previous comment, the owner (Nick) is irresponsible.

It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

The room was pretty basic. We were in unit 2. It is directly above a restaurant and next to an inn and over looks a busy square. It was warm and loud with the windows open til late evening. Especially with people outside waiting to get into the restaurant.

The room was so beautiful, simply delightful and comfortable! The shower was awesome! I appreciated them calling us quickly after we could not get our code number to work on any lock boxes as we were ready to be able to rest after a long day of traveling.

We had a different key code that was sent to us via email and it would not work on any lock box. But they were quick to call and send us a different code to access our room. Checking in to a room took longer than expected due to this.

Good choice for location. Modern furnishings with comfortable and spacious room

Location was convient to center of town. Room and bath were spacious and bed comfortable.

Access to unit required carrying luggage down steep and long set of stairs. Entrance area is unattractive with overgrown grassy areas. The room overlooks the main town square so it is very noisy. On Thursday, there was a live music and loud patrons till 11 pm. No way could I sleep until they were closed. I would have liked to have a larger fridge. The one supplied was tiny and only useful for the creamer they supplied. Lastly, room was very warm with no AC to cool it.

There are 40 steps to get to the entrance .. was a nightmare with the luggage.. this should have been mentioned on the hotels overview . Nightmare for elderly too to carry the luggage up and down . Extremely difficult to find the place … no signage … the heating was not working when we got there .. no reception or person physically present .. but hot the heating solved thru messages.

Somerset was perfectly located for our 2 night visit to Skye. Portree has plenty of restaurants and little shops and the harbour us very picturesque. Somerset is right in the middle

Great Stay in Portree!

The location was excellent - right on the square! The walkway down to the house wasn't bad at all, and it was pretty obvious from the description so I wasn't surprised at all. The room was clean, comfortable, surprisingly quiet, and pretty big!

The shower drain the first night wasn't draining properly (not a big deal). But we contacted the staff the next morning and it was fixed by the time we made it back from touring around the island!
