    Had to call maintenance as the tv and air conditioning weren't working. The bed, and the general decor of the room were tired and showing signs of wear and tear. In the morning wanted a drink in the room but there was no coffee sachets in the room. After complaining whilst checking out was told the hotel has recently changed ownership and there was some teething troubles, was a poor excuse for a poor stay.

    Since booking, the hotel has changed branding from Mecure to Voco by IHG. It is still a work in progress. My booking, on the same terms, was obviously honoured. In my view, this is a very good hotel in an incredible location. Right in the heart of the city, yet no passing traffic. Looking down on Sheffield's Winter Garden from my 3rd floor room was surreal. Even numbered rooms have this view, odd numbered overlook the ornate Victorian Town Hall. Possibly because of the change of operator, there are a few isolated maintenance issues, particularly in the pool and spa area, but I'm sure these will be addressed in time. Accessing the pool as a guest could also be clearer. Very nice public areas, from which to watch the world going by on the other side of the glass. Not quite sure why the doors leading directly to the Winter Gardens are locked. A great selling point, surely? Highly recommend.

    Booked this specific hotel just for the spa facilities, aftet having a long look at all spa hotels in Sheffield St Paul’s looked like the best one by far must say was rather disappointed to find out the opposite the pool and thermal area is terribly dated and small floor was absolutley filthy and the changing area was outdated and not the cleanest too. The room it self was fine just a standard room rather clean and bathroom spotless which made the stay a little bit better staff were all fantastic and buffet breakfast was fine but overall disappointed as we came to stay on a couples night away and booked this spa for it’s promoted facilities which didn’t exceed the standards we was hoping for
