Virtually everything. The property was was everything we hoped it would be. The facilities were excellent. The location was so close to the main centre. Looking out the windows at the river was special. The bed was large enough and comfortable. Absolutely everything you could require for a 4 night stay. Only 2 things I would criticise. 1. On our first morning, I stepped in the bath and switched on the rain shower. The water was going in every direction, rather than straight down. I got the green sponge from the kitchen and spent 1-2 minutes cleaning the shower head. After that the shower was just about as good as the shower we have at home. A pleasure to use after that. 2. The courtyard was a disgrace. The table and 2 chairs were covered in birds poo and spiders webs. They had never been cleaned in months. The courtyard had never been swept for months. Dead rotten apples and masses of shrivelled up dead leaves. 30 minutes of cleaning would leave an amazing little area. We did sit in the courtyard on 2 evenings and it was lovely having such a private little place to relax after busy days. Would we return, and would we recommend the property? That’s easy, a 100% YES. We are both looking forward to returning to York and The Davey Tower. John Reid

location is excellent 5 mins to town centre views onto river and park are lovely history of property provided massive comfy bed good communication in booking quick to respond to issues raised good kitchen equipment
Firstly i was unprepared for the additional £25 cost for sheets. who charges extra for sheets its disgusting. my hands were tied on dates and fact i needed dog friendly otherwise i would have cancelled. Information on property rules state dogs not allowed in bedroom area at all however if you use front door it leads directly into bedroom and to reach lounge from back door you need to walk through bedroom so its just not possible. we spent our first day trying to keep the. back door closed. the lock didnt work from inside or out so door kept flying open in wind. we reported but it wasnt resolved until the following day due to availability of locksmith meaning the property was unsecure and open to elements and intruders whilst we slept. one it was repaired no further issues however the front door lock didnt seem very secure either. this is a tired and jaded looking property in some areas. the bathroom floor tiles are cracked the width of the room, the sink is located in a way that its difficult to clean teeth or wash face. the courtyard garden could be lovely but totally overgrown with apple tree branch hitting you in face as you exit via rear stairs. there are tripping hazards due to various levels in flooring from kitchen and bathroom to other areas. the stairs into both entrances are steep with narrow steps so could be tricky for less abled. i understand the historic factors prevent some repairs or modernisation but it feels neglected.
