The house was very good value and we enjoyed our stay but “2 bathrooms” description was misleading.

Great location. Lovely characterful house.

Second bathroom was actually just an outside toilet with basin. Bathroom door handle falling off. No loo roll or loo brush in the outside toilet.

The location is great, central for all the attractions, shops restaurants and pubs in York.

It was advertised as 2 bathrooms. The second bathroom is an outside toilet, which was a nice outside toilet, but not that good for cold wet weather in January. It would have been nice to have some information in the house relating to how to use the radiators, oven etc but we sorted it so not a real problem

We enjoyed our mini break and visited some of the attractions nearby

Location was perfect parking is not very good but if you have a blue badge you can park outside the property. It’s a very short walk into York. I recommend booking a restaurant if you want to eat out which we did in advance of arriving as York is extremely busy throughout the year.

A couple more night lights it’s very dark coming from the twin bedroom to the bathroom and also from the bathroom to the downstairs bedroom otherwise it’s well lit

Fantastic location, close to train station and within walking distance of many attractions in York. Quirky , clean and cosy house. Good communication from owner.

Unfair to advertise as two bathrooms, as it has one bathroom and an outside toilet. Decor could do with freshening up.

Christmas break with friends

Location was perfect

Cleanliness wasn't great :( especially in the kitchen where the oven and oven trays had been used previously and not washed up. Ditto with the frying pan and saucepans. General cleanliness wasn't great in the living room or bedrooms either. Two of the three light bulbs in the dining area were out, making it very dismal of an evening, and the garden light leading to the outside downstairs toilet ( which was not mentioned in the description as being an outside toilet) was also out making it difficult to use after 4.00pm when dark. Also, the toilet seats in both the bathroom and the outside toilet were broken Parking at the property was also an issue as it says there is parking for one vehicle outside the property, which I had requested, but no parking permit had been arranged. The host did eventually sort this out with a visitors parking permit, but I had to push to get it so not ideal, and not what you want after a 4 and a half hour drive. However, all that being said, we enjoyed our stay and loved York!

Good place for a December family get together

Location is brilliant. Well stocked kitchen. 3 very good sized bedrooms. Nicely decorated. Cheapish parking very close to town centre

Only one bathroom for four bedroomed house is a bit of a challenge when you all want to get out for the same time. Downstairs toilet is beautifully decorated but getting to it in the rain wasn’t fun

Never to return!

Location

Cleanliness!, we had to change the bedding when we arrived, there was even the previous occupants socks in the bed! Accommodation not hoovered through, toothpaste in the sink. Bathroom handle hanging off (I've since seen this mentioned in a past re iew so obviously not sorted) dangerous stairs situation top of stairs (not sure it would meet health & safety regs) listing states 2 bathrooms ..not the case, bathroom upstairs and an outside toilet! Photographs of rooms in listing are very different to those in real life. Property is shabby, carpets in bedrooms dirty and need replacing. Some Plug sockets and lamps not working, Luckily we had part of our party cancel as I wouldn't want anyone to stay in the beds on the grimm top floor.

Lovely house, clean and tidy and easy to find. Host was lovely and communicated well

Location is good. House is clean and tidy

Disappointed that parking wasn’t included like booking.com advertised. It was expensive to park in the nearest car park - couple of mins walk away. Worked out about £30 for the night. Especially when Theres permit parking right outside the house. The host did let me know they hadn’t renewed the permit but it ended up working out a bit expensive for one night when you take into account the parking charges.

Not ideal for more than 4 people

The Location was great. If you are planning to stay at this property you may want to check that they have rectified the issues that I have placed in the negative response.

There was no on site parking as advertised. They had not purchased the permits, we had to walk 40 minutes to park and our son had to pay £25 a day to park nearby as he had a young child. They blamed this on the council but still advertise parking. The forth bedroom is a loft room, it has no heating, no smoke detector, tall adults may struggle with the head height and you have to crawl into the single beds which are under the eaves. We refused to use it as we felt it was unsafe. The top of the stairs to the first floor is dangerous. They have a sign there to tell you to be careful. There really is only 4 dining chairs as shown in the pictures. If you plan to cook and eat for more than 4 people maybe you could contact the property to make sure there is enough dining chairs and enough cook/oven ware as there was not when we stayed. The sitting room has space for 5 people only. There is no second bathroom, it is an outside loo and very cold in the winter. Not a sufficient bathroom/loo ratio for the number of guests it is meant to accommodate. I have reported these issues to the owners but have had no reply apart from that the council has looked at the loft space and it is compliant.

Excellent location, beautiful place - modern kitchen big fan of glass roof above dining table!

The staircase didn't feel very safe, but owner did leave the night light and we got used to it in the end. Charm of old houses I suppose!

It was in a nice quiet area about 20 mins walk to York minster… It was nicely decorated by need some touch ups..

We are four ladies ( 61,65,69,and 70..) the stair carpet was dangerous and one lady actually fell outside the bathroom and injured her arm … Although the house was charming it needed a deep clean ..we found crisps under the table, the downstairs bedroom hadn’t been hoovered properly for a long time …we could use the 3rd floor bedroom ( no blinds on the window ) we had to wash cups and cutlery before we used them. The decking area was dirty and very slippery when wet and surround by weeds..it’s obvious the house is not being maintained properly.. both toilet seats were loose and needed replacing ..

House was quiet big and when I checked the prices cleaning fees £60…unfortunately bedding wasn’t changed and parking was only for permit holders that’s why please talk the host before you go…

Courtyard full of weeds not been attended to in a while Store outside with washing machine full of empty bottles. Internal cupboard in lounge full of laundry. Car parking a joke. Lack of information prior to arrival as to what was provided Loose fitting carpets on stairs.

Comfortable house in quiet street close to the centre of York.

Good location in easy walking distance to the City and its attractions. Lovely suburban street with great local pub. Fantastic bakery just across the bridge. (Cosgriff and Sons)

I didn't think about parking in advance and should have arranged with the host. We therefore had to move cars and find reasonably priced alternatives.

We did enjoy our stay and would recommend it, just a few minor jobs needed and more accurate description.

Great location, comfy beds, lovely cosy sitting room and well equipped kitchen.

The toilet in the bathroom didn’t flush properly, two of the 3 spotlights in one of the bedrooms didn’t work, the washing machine was inaccessible due to the amount of empty alcohol bottles in front of it. The property was advertised as having two bathrooms but it has one main bathroom and an outside toilet, so I don’t think the description is accurate.

Advertised as having 2 bathrooms - this is not true. There is one bathroom on the second floor and a toilet outside, accessed through the backyard. Had I known this, I would have booked elsewhere as only one shower for a group of 5 women was not ideal.

Ideal spot for a short visit to York.

Lovely house in a very quiet street within the city wall. We arrived by train and walked everywhere, no need for taxis. The house is warm and comfortable as well as being characterful and well positioned for the main York attractions.

Fantastic space and location

Everything! A lovely little space with enough room to sleep us all, T.V kept the kids entertained in the evening and a nice short walk into the centre. Although a little chilly given the time of year the outside toilet is a nice touch for larger families!

The only slight downside was that one of the heaters wouldn't come on but that could just be because we didn't know how to work them properly.

Loved the house! So comfortable and welcoming. The posh loo out back was fab. The cute owl on the top of the stairs.

It doesn’t have 2 bathrooms. It has 1 indoor bath/shower and toilet. I outside toilet and washing machine. Stairs are very steep. The top bedroom has no heating or clothes hanging facility, no curtains on window, 2 low Childs beds. I had to sleep in the lounge on a sofa. The heating downstairs could not be adjusted either 42 degrees or off. No instructions to use heating, oven or TV. The fire had no fuel to use.

The property was beautiful and very clean. Warm and cosy feel. Home from home. The beds were especially comfy and had everything we needed. Perfect location, close to the town and in a nice quiet neighbourhood.
