Skeldergate View Apartments

The apartment is in a top location, a short walk to lots of great restaurants and shops. We stayed in the top floor apartment, reached via a fairly narrow, winding staircase. It was no problem for us though as we knew this beforehand. The apartment was spotlessly clean and has everything you need for a your stay. The beds were comfy and there are plenty of plug sockets throughout. We met the host while there who was really friendly and very helpful. We would definitely return.

Floorboards a bit squeaky.

A great little flat for visiting York. Just a short easy walk from the train station and easy to find. Entrance is via a keypad on the door ( be aware there is no light outside at night) . You have to go up a narrow twisty staircase to reach the room , we had two large bags and managed it but it is hard work. There is then a key box for a key to your flat. Very nice well kept flat with a open plan lounge/kitchen/diner , a bathroom with bath and shower , and a large bedroom . Bed is two singles pushed together , which did move a little when you were in it. The flat is very well equipped for a stay , plenty of equipment to cook and eat your own meals and takeaways and a washer/dryer should you need it. ( note there are no instructions how to work it . We had to look online and still took 2 attempts to get it to work) . The flat is in a perfect location to visit all of York's attractions . On arrival we left our luggage at the facility by the station in order to visit the Railway Museum before going to the flat. From the locations we walked to the Minster, Castle Museum, the Shambles and city river cruise. So convenient for visiting York and close to a large selection of cafes , restaurants , bars and 2 small convenient stores.

It was in a noisy area, lots of bars/ restaurants frequented by students into the early hours. We were there during freshers week which probably didn't help. If you closed the windows it did cut out the noise , but made the bedroom a little stuffy. When we were in the flat there was a strange shaking that seemed to happen randomly , when you could feel the room/ sofa shake for a couple of seconds. We couldn't work out what it was but possibly it was when a train travelled on the local tracks ( although you could not see or hear any) It wasn't an issue but a bit strange The washing machine was very noisy when on the spin cycle, it shook and banged like it was taking off.
