First time in Japan and we didn’t know what to expect. Shizuru is in an unassuming hotel on a quaint street only a few blocks from the bustle of the city. Perfectly situated close enough to the metro lines, Gion and the alley. The staff was kind and attentive. The place was clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom felt like you are in a spa. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to start off the day.
Let me sum it up this way… my wife is very particular in where we stay. She was thrilled with this property!

Location was great, lovely view of the river. The staff was very kind and welcoming, let us keep our luggage with them before check in and after check out. The room was spacious and very comfortable! It felt so luxurious! There’s a really fun magic bar next door too which is so convenient that it’s so close bc there’s usually a line. Would recommend to anyone!
We didn’t love the traditional Japanese breakfast (probably personal preference) and we think they forgot that we ordered as well, bc it came late and the pajamas smelled a bit funky, but neither would deter us from staying again!
