Tazuru

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They modified the dinner for my wife who is vegetarian, with fish sauce which they made sure to point out to me. Convenient location with clean and large rooms, with lots of storage.

We were looking for something with traditional ryokan feel, but still within a kinda limited budget and Tazuru turned out to be a very good choice. The building itself was more like a typical, somewhat old-fashioned small Japanese hotel, but the rather spacious room absolutely had the ryokan feel, accompanied with a modern bathroom. So, it was all nice, but what made it really special was the view over the river, city and mountains with falcons and herons flying around all the time. Stunning stuff. (not all rooms come with a river view though, so keep that in mind when you pick your roomy type). The area is also very nice and quiet just a few minutes walk from the famous historical part of the city. Also, the staff was super friendly and helpful.

It is visible that the building isn't new and it would need a bit of a tidying up, but nothing that would affect your stay there.

The staff were so lovely. The rooms were great, I picked this place to stay as I brought my son on his first trip to Japan and wanted him to experience a ryokan stay. The room was great. The shower was awesome. The traditional breakfasts were lovely.
