Great location for exploring Hermanus!

Amazing location, even though our room was not located in the main building and didn’t have a direct sea view it was still mere meters from the ocean and close to all of Hermanus’ restaurants and shops. The breakfast was delicious and all the staff at breakfast were very friendly.

The location in central Hermanus is excellent. Secure basement parking free of charge.

There were many issues on checking in that initially were inadequately dealt with. The following day Donwayne made an effort to listen and address most of the problems. Re-stocking of coffee not happening, breakfast ok. We got the feeling the property is not spending om maintenance.

The 2 bed apartment was not really a 2 bed but 2 rooms next to each other. Not what we expected or how it is sold Apartments are not part of the main hotel and so you need to walk across roads to go to breakfast or to reception

the breakfast was fantastic ,the location brilliant

Marks on the ceiling ,prepped to paint but never did as well as above the entrance door ,that's not a good site some filler on the joint of the cornice the bed was hard and not very comfortable . the mold in the corners of the hand basin where the sealer has been half heartedly done the entrance door to the room needs to be shaved on the side to allow for ease of operation ,I had to bang the door to open & close it , my wife struggled to open the door due to it being so sticky Proper adjustment of the sliding door rollers for ease of access the balcony Surely the maintenance crew can find a proper handle for the window to open & close

Walking distance to restaurants

I was disappointed to find that the actual hotel block was away from the front of the sea as shown on the pictures advertised. At our time of stay they were doing renovations and we were not made a where of this before our stay, If I knew of this I would not have stayed at the hotel.

I loved my short stay, definitely could have stayed longer, Hermanus is a gorgeous little town.

Everything was truly amazing from the staff to the surrounding restaurants and the amazing breakfast, tea and scones served. Accommodation was also great and cozy Definitely will come back 💜

Unfortunately, and I mean seriously unfortunately, the tv channels available were so minimal, struggled to find anything to watch. Not sure if it’s the new norm to have to tune into your Netflix, Showmax at home, which is mission impossible, to start remembering all passwords etc. I feel that due to the cold and rain, they should have offered winter duvets instead of an extra throw.

Staff at the breakfast were nice

Reservation: there was a misrepresentation about the apartment with 2 bedrooms we booked. The reservation confirmation stated clearly "2 bedrooms apartment". Instead of an apartment with two bedrooms we were handed two keys to two separate bedrooms across a corridor. The hotel claimed that the glass (so transparent) fire security door at the entrance of the corridor leading to the bedrooms was the alleged "apartment" entrance door. The door was a corridor door, transparent so people could see inside and although it could be locked (like a toilet locker) from the inside, it could also be opened from the outside with a simple coin (like a toilet locker). This is obviously not an apartment with privacy and a secured key door. Although it was not an apartment with 2 bedrooms, the front desk kept maintaining it was instead of admitting that it was not what we had booked and actually helping us resolve the situation! So we had to contact bookings... we ended-up using one room only (handed the other key back to the hotel) and our two daughters slept on a sofa. We complained and as compensation on a ~9,330 ZAR booking we were offered a 2,332 ZAR voucher. I will let other customers decide for themselves how nice/fair that is. From our perspective we feel we have been mis-sold and do not consider the compensation to be fair. Cleanness: the room was dirty. Facilities: It was supposed to have a jacuzzi and a barbecue on the terrasse, the jacuzzi was dirty and the barbecue all rusty so we did not use it. Staff: front desk were not nice. Breakfast: the breakfast was not good (staff at the breakfast were nice though).

the hotel doesn’t have its own generator and this was a problem due to load shedding, therefore no lift working. The breakfast was basic, toast could be served, so not having to stand and make your own while the breakfast goes cold, that was when it was in use due to no power. Didn’t like the re - use of jam/marmalade pots either, surely for the money they could provide new ones .

no braai facilities for residents on 2nd & 3rd floor. Only braai facilities for residents on 1st floor which was not used at all during the period we were there. Really ridiculous arrangement, specially during load shedding and high season with very full restaurants. Night club across the square are very noisy with loud music until after 01h00 in the morning.
