Thermal storage heating takes a day to start working, so the first day the temperature in the flat was way below 10 C.

Great Location, pleasant stay

Location was great, but there are renovations going on in the building, so some noise. Flat was comfortable, a comfy mattress too. Provided with everything you require for a self-catering stay.

The entrance hallway was really dirty and off-putting. Please ask your cleaners to attend to this. The living area could do with a lamp to provide softer lighting and a small table to put your drinks on. The bathroom doors needs a bit of WD40. The hall heater did not work the whole time I was there.

The apartment was comfortable and clean and we enjoyed our stay.

The bedroom and living were well heated. The bedroom was very cosy and the bed very comfortable. The location is excellent.

The communal hallway to No 5 McCaig's Apartments was very grubby and did not give a good first impression. The stairs to the apartment could be cause for concern as they were steep and on a curve.

The photos on the advert dont accurately reflect the apartment i stayed in. Contacted the host regarding this, and was treated extremely poorly. Faults/damage that were flagged up in previous reviews are still there and not been resolved. Entrance and stairway need a good clean. Windows in apt. 5 were filthy. Cheaply finished. Kitchen facilities could be a lot better. Stayed in a lot of self catering apartments in Oban and the experience of staying here was easily the worst. Wont be back.

What a pleasant place to stay in the downtown area.

It was wonderful to be in the center of Town and the Pier. Lots of great walks. Right above the Chip shop made for the fun adventure.

There was a delay in getting messages from Booking.com, the third party we used to book. Luckily we called the host directly and they were able to provide check-in information on the spot.

The flat was clean and pleasant overall - the rugs in the living room area could be better/cleaner, and some basic kitchen necessities, like a chopping board, would make it much more practical to cook up some breakfast.

Good location

It was good location and food place all around to suit every taste easy access to appointment and finding it. I like view from kitchen dining area over looking sea can watch ferry and boats coming in while have morning cuppa.

Only one problem no parking at property any space you got had to pay for two hours then would have to renew ticket.

Oban amazing as always, great location flat filthy

Very central great location

Apart from extractor fans being filthy, toaster not cleaned out, a wood panel in the wardrobe missing so access into the loft area, the communal staircase absolutely filthy, the dampness on the walls surrounding the velux windows, the electrical socket on the wall with a gaping one inch hole in it, no oven, a portable plug in two ring stove, four inch screws holding the door hinge on that came through the actual door itself, and a gig hole in the bedroom ceiling where the bedroom door hits the ceiling. A TERRIBLE LOFT CONVERSION

Great location and lovely place to stay.

Very comfortable apartment with everything provided that would be needed. Great location right in the middle of town.

Parking was a bit of a nightmare, as the on street parking is limited to 2 hours, and the one way system meant that we had to do two or three loops around town in an attempt to find a long stay car park that was close by. Luckily, we managed to park on the street whilst we unloaded the car, and then found a space in a car park which we just topped up online every 24 hours. I suspect that this is an issue for most accommodation in Oban, and not the fault of this particular apartment, but I recommend doing more research on parking in advance than we did.

The location was excellent just off the main street and there was a view over the loch.

When it was windy the cupboard door in the bedroom blew open then banged shut regularly. It was an aric flat so it was a bit of a climb.

The location is fantastic, the flat and the management are abysmal.

Aside from the fantastic location, these were absolutely miserable accommodations. No working WiFi, no washing machine (despite listing at time of booking claiming in-flat washing machine). When I called management to ask about inaccuracies in listing I was met with outright hostility by a miserable man who was absolutely livid that I dared to note the inaccuracies in the listing and the poor condition of the flat. Unsafe stairs not disclosed in listing — would be totally inaccessible for anyone with mobility problems, anyone elderly, etc. Unclean flat with crumbs and dirt everywhere, stained mattress and bedding, no basics in flat (soap, etc.). No working WiFi in flat, which the management failed to address whatsoever. Good central location (although, of course, Oban is small enough that virtually anything in Oban proper is 'central'), and Oban is beautiful, but the flat and the man who manages it are absolutely miserable and not worth the time, hassle, cost, and abuse. Even after having 2 nights refunded, the place was not worth what we paid, largely because we had to deal with such an unpleasant managing agent. Stay elsewhere (every other place I’ve stayed in Oban has been lovely)!

Town centre flat, ideal for short visit to Oban or a short stop before visiting the other islands

The location was very central, easy access to restaurants, ferry port. Flat had been modernised and used space well. Nice to have washing machine with a dryer

If you come by car then work out where you are going to park. There is on street parking near the flat but it is for 2 hours only between 9 am and 6 pm and spaces are often full in the day. There are car parks but not really very convenient for unloading and loading car.

Will not stay at McCaigs Way ever again

Location and layout I can’t fault

The fact that the ceiling had a leak that constantly dripped and had been leaking for sometime, the shower head was mouldy, the toilet seat was not secure and it was dusty round the edges of every room. The owner couldn’t care less about the leak or mould, just said they were waiting for a part!!! I stayed 4 days as I left early!!

When reading reviews alot of the negative ones seem appear to be from people who have incorrectly booked as their is a unit that doesn’t have a kitchen. However when booking its clearly labelled and the host was very happy to confirm via message that we had booked a property with a kitchen. The host is very responsive and extremely helpful and approachable. The host messaged us the day after check in to make sure we settled in well & asked if they could do anything for us, which was incredibly warming & made us well very welcome. The property is in an ideal location and priced reasonably (below what it could achieve in my opinion.) Easy check in process. Apon arriving the apartment was spotlessly clean. The toilet flush wasn’t working properly but was easily fixed by removing the top of the cistern and lengthening the flush rods. The property is decorated very homely and unlike alot of rentals that are bare and have signs everywhere (information, rules ect.) Which made the property feel homely and comfortable. I have some recommendations that could elevate the property; Potentially an additional cost package that includes tea,coffee,sugar,milk,maybe some breakfast foods, enough washing powder for a few washes…ect. Potentially a TV in the bedroom (although it’s not much hassle to just move the tv when we brought our fire stick.) We are looking forward to rebooking in the near future. This was a beautiful trip and the property and hosts were a big part of our experience. A big thank you to our amazing hosts.

I would definitely book a stay here again and recommend this to friends

I was able to let myself in via a door code and key safe which I found great as I was able to arrive any time I wanted to. I was in flat 5 which was on the top floor. A winding staircase to get there, which I didn`t mind, good exercise. I found this to be very cosy and just the right size for 2 people. I found the bed to be very comfortable. The apartment was very clean, modern, bright and had everything I needed for my stay and I had a great view over the water from one of the windows. There is a chip shop underneath but I was not aware of any smells from this except at the bottom entrance to the apartments, there was no smell travelling upward. The location was excellent.

There wasn`t anything that I didn`t like about my stay. The apartment was very well furnished and very modern.
