Rats in the ceiling, mold in bathroom, cigarette smell

location near center. kitchen equipment was fine

The communication with the host was very poor, as they responded rarely. In Apartment 1 there was the smell of cigarette smoke, which made the stay very unpleasant, accommodation like this should not even be offered. The bathroom had no ventilation fan, which meant the wet air goes into the room and caused mold on the walls. In addition, I could hear rats in the ceiling, which was extremely disturbing. The host did not do anything with that.

Breakfast! What breakfast?

The location is very convenient for nearby facilities. It was quiet. Managed to park 4 motorbikes nearby and had no issues with their security.

NO BREAKFAST! - There's supposed to be milk and Orange juice provided, which wasn't, and apparently there's an agreement with a bakery just around the corner. Photos of the bakery are provided and a card for handing to the baker to collect a baguette and croissant for the quantity of personnel staying. The baker is closed on Mondays and didn't open on Tuesday either so we had to source our breakfast from elsewhere at additional cost - it doesn't cost much but when we've already paid it is somewhat disappointing. Arrival takes a bit of juggling with the information received in advance - it would be a good idea to consolidate your key info, perhaps on paper, before arrival so the codes are readily accessible - juggling your phone, luggage and anything else you are carrying is a bit of a chore. When we arrived (Room 5) the cooker hob was powered and very hot - fortunately nobody got hurt - obviously an error somewhere. The coffee pot handle was only fixed at one end so there's a risk of scalding; probably best to avoid using it if you can. The toaster was dented quite badly so we avoided using it in case of a short circuit.

Excellent choice for a holiday stay in Caen

It was spacious 2 room apartment with a kitchen and large bathroom. It was clean. The kitchen was stocked with breakfast items and every morning we received fresh baguette and croissant.

Nothing much to complain. Walk to city center is about 15 min. Bus connection is available but not frequent.

Problems with the flat and the staff's response a disaster

This apartment is in a superb location in Caen; that is the best thing about it. It also includes a delivery every morning of fresh croissants and baguette, butter and jam, juice and milk, and there is a coffee machine in the kitchen, with coffee, tea and sugar available. The flat consists of a front room, which is a combined living/dining area with kitchenette; a bedroom; and a roomy bathroom with a shower. The problem is that only the front room has windows to provide air and, since the flat is at street level, the large windows open right onto the street. Although the street is narrow and quiet, we were not about to leave our windows wide open all night onto the street of an unknown city, but when the windows are closed, the place is hot and completely airless. Worse than the lack of safety (or air--that was our choice) was how the staff dealt with me when I called them.

I cannot AT ALL recommend this flat or the company that provided it, for the following reasons: (a) the description of the apartment called it part of an "aparthotel," but in fact there isn't in any kind of hotel or apartment building but a single small flat with all its windows opening right onto the street; (b) it supposedly has parking, but, although there is a free city parking lot nearby, it is always full; there are no places reserved for us; (c) the hotel communicated with me through texts in German (I speak German, English and Spanish, but poor French), which was fine, but when I called the number given to me in the texts ("If you have any problems, just call"), the people I reached spoke only French and their lack of helpfulness bordered on rude. Eventually, I was able to reach a man who spoke some English, and when I explained the problems with the windows being on the street and our not being able to open then, he agreed to bring a fan the next day at 10 am. He never showed up, although we waited for him until 11 a.m., nor did he text or phone to explain or apologize (in any language!) Two days later, after I'd complained to Booking.com, an unassembled fan in a box showed up in our room (which we assembled and used for the last two nights--and it solved the problem). To sum up: although a fan finally arrived as promised, the staff's interaction with me was really unpleasant.

The location and cleanliness was excellent.

We couldn't access the hotel on the first day because the door was jammed and we couldn't get in. We tried calling the hotel but no one had any English. We had to wait outside the door until another guest happened to come back to the hotel and told us the door was jammed and how to open it. We wasted 2hours because we couldnt' get in. The door needs to be fixed or you need to tell guest that they have to practically use all their force to get in.

A enjoyable stay and Caen is well worth a visit.

Very clean and modern, the bathroom was lovely and a comfortable bed. Nice touch to have breakfast delivered every morning. The little Kitchen has everything you need for a short stay. The location is very good.

Quite tricky to find and parking was not near, parking always tricky when you stay in a city.

Smelled as if someone smoked in the room when we arrived and no reply on that from the staff. Hard to park directly next to the property, expect a small walk (6 min) and €5 per day parking fee.

No hot water on our second day, staff didn’t respond to the matter. Smell of sewerage at the property - not nice. Found the smoke detector in a drawer without a battery. Bedrooms have internal windows without curtains! We spent out evenings by the light of the rangehood. Property staff not contactable during stay.

Amazing apartment and location in the heart of Caen. The breakfast of croissants, orange juice and jams delivered to our post box every morning at 7am was heaven. You're smack in the centre of history, cafes and shops - all just outside your door - we absolutely loved the place, once we'd found it and become savvy with the public parking. There are some incredible independents in the street outside the house, great place to do Xmas shopping and the people were all so friendly and helpful. very cool vibe here, reminded me of Marylebone or Soho in London. Lots of entrepreneurs and style - all harmonious in respect and humility to the WWII memorials. WE'll be back

these are not serviced apartments. You're entirely on your own. do not expect a response from either text or telephone. regarding address, booking.com says No 2, it's actually No 4 Passage Sant Benoit. It's free parking in a public car park. Not allocated free parking. the apartment configuration means bedrooms have internal windows and no blinds - so you can see directly into bedrooms - and there's no blinds on the large lounge window. Do not arrive in the dark! There are no external lights on the signage or the door numbers in the passageway. it's impossible to find - we asked the local convenience man to help us after an hour of searching. Wrong address not helping obvs. All this happened on our first night - we were exhausted from travelling, we had a small dog and luggage. After a hellish start we had a great time. I say this to improve the experience for anyone else - and also in the hope thé hôtel updates it's copy - and puts up a light outside the apartment.

Great stay in Caen city centre.

Breakfast service was wonderful - great to find each morning frech croissants and breadrolls in the mailbox! Location was good, very close to the city centre.

The free parking lot nearby was always full, so we had to use the paying parking. Curtains at the "inside windows" would be nice, now you can see inside the bedrooms.

Clean and calm but…

As previous residents already pointed out: the appt. is located right in the centre - it‘s modern, clean, well designed and calm

The concept of a contactless rental is alright but we were left with no information how to access the appartment. If it hadn‘t been for the cleaning staff who accidentally came by we would have spent the rest of the afternoon looking for an alternate. To be clear: we arrived during the official ‚office hours‘ where it says that someone would personally check us in. Neither did various attempts via phone (answering machine) nor the messaging service via booking.com result in ANY response - for our entire stay of 3 days (…). We were left with no towels, toilet paper and no information regarding key deposit and check-out. I don‘t want to shy people away from staying there but the owner really needs to work on customer service and communication skills

Apartment and location really good but communication was not acceptable

The loacation was good. Close to city center. Nice apartment.

The owner of the apartment did not speak english. All messages with information about door code and code for key box was in french. When we finally understood how to reach the key box it was empty. Another family had the apartment that we were adviced! The owner had given us the wrong number for key box and apartment. The owner did not answer any phone calls. Booking support finnaly solved it. Communication with owner did not work. I thought it was a demand that communication could be in english.

We were overwhelmed with the apartment as the owner put fresh orange juice, jam, butter as well as fresh grained coffee powder for the coffee-machine in the fridge/kitchen. I never saw this “extra” in my life before for a booked appartment!

-Exceptionnel: avec un petit déjeuner complet et cela est appréciable (grosse brioche offerte, confiture, beurre, thé, etc.. à signaler également la fourniture d'échantillons de nettoyage corporel et pour la vaisselle ...); appartement très propre, murs, salle de bain, literie, le tout à la blancheur immaculée!.. à noter aussi la présence d'un personnel de nettoyage, certains jours de la semaine. En bref c'est le renouement avec les véritables appart-hôtels inventés aux États-Unis il y a plus d'un demi-siècle .. Je recommande fortement. .T.C.

Le studio, très calme, est impeccable de propreté, spacieux et très bien équipé. Une délicieuse brioche m'attendait pour le petit déjeuner, avec du café, du thé etc...

J'ai facilement trouvé le studio sur la rue car j'avais lu les commentaires précédents. Peut-être vaudrait-il mieux indiquer la situation de certains appartement dans les informations précisant les modalités de récupération des clefs.
