Fabulous, we enjoyed every minute!

Location was excellent, facilities good, exceptional property.

We had travelled up for my sisters wedding so had quite a few outfits for the stay. A wardrobe would have been ideal to hang our clothes up. There was plenty of drawer storage, it was just hanging space that we were short on.

It is a privilege to stay in a place like Pear Cottage.

Overlooking Melrose Abby and Priorwood Gardens, Pear Cottage is a self-catering apartment in the historic old town of Melrose. Updated with modern conveniences, it still retains its old world charm. It was clean and spacious. The bedroom was in the back of the unit so it was quiet. The on-site parking was a bonus. Helen Stewart, who manages it for the National Trust of Scotland, was genuine, kind, helpful, and a pleasure to talk to.

The unit is on the first floor so if you can't manage a flight of stairs perhaps look for another location. For everyone else, the views are great.

2nd Visit

Great location between Abbey and the garden and close to shops, cafes, pubs, etc. Nearby park is ideal if travelling with a dog. Designated parking space is handy to avoid dealing with often busy parking nearby. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable with everything we needed.

Excellent base for visting places. The train to Edinburgh is a superb service. We canrecommend the Scottish National Mus

Location overlooking Melrose Abbey is superb. The lounge has windows on three sides looking out in turn on the Abbey, the main street and a National Trust Garden. The excellent Roman museum of Trimontium is just around the corner.

Location is brilliant, between Abbey and Gardens and close to shops/cafes/walks etc. Cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Allocated parking was helpful as street and nearby car park can be busy.

The accommodation was very comfortable, spotless on arrival, and in an excellent location. Could not fault anything,the heating, shower were excellent. Will certainly recommend and hopefully at some point return.

Excellent location, cottage needs some TLC

The location was excellent. There were lots of towels, the bedding was clean, lots of hot water.

It wasn’t a warm and welcoming cottage, I felt it had been furnished without much thought, it was rather dated. The sofa was really uncomfortable. There were only four hangers (and no wardrobe) for two people. The mattress gave me a bad back but that may just be a personal issue.
