SMART MODERN LOOK TO THE STUDIO IN AN OLD BUILDING

We liked (a) The thoughtful provisions for us to prepare our breakfast. (b) Everywhere was scrupulously clean and well maintained. (c) It was an excellent shower. (d) The bird design on the bed linen. (e) The view over the chimney pots, from the large window, to the distant hills. (f) We were cosy and warm. (g) Locals were very friendly.

The worn steps at the top of the spiral staircase up to the apartment entrance door. The carpeted floor area in places felt a little weak and might need to be checked.

Recommend base for completing The Boarders Abbeys Way

Excellent, comfortable base allowing us to complete The Borders Abbeys Way. (recommend Paul Boobyer's guidebook). Good bus service meant it was very straightforward to leave our car at the destination and then travel to our start point. Returning each evening to the Hill View Studio meant we were able to relax in the well thought out accommodation.

Clean Cosy Quiet place on a hill with a view

Excellent location, Great views, Clean Cosy Quiet place..A Short walk to the river and the centre of town and People were friendly and kind .We would highly recommend this place to stay as long as you can manage two flights of stairs and you like a view. Kat's shop on the corner for everything you need,if you pass by at 5 pm -10 pm ice cream on the other corner. .Great treats,Delicious ice cream.Overall our stay was great by the comfort of the place and the area we stayed in.

Great stay, perfect apartment

Perfect place to stay, every little extra comfort has been thought of. Nice and cosy and great powerful shower. Spotlessly clean too

We were OK with the stairs, we knew beforehand they were a little steep at the top and it wasn't a problem for us at all, but maybe others would struggle a little

Bright and cosy flat

It was comfortable and cosy Very clean and bright the kitchen area and utensils were spotless loved the breakfasts provided and snacks, It’s near to Main Street there is a handy little shop at the bottom of the road. Great view from window (People have previously mentioned stairs it’s only the last few stairs and yes there is no landing at the door but Emma does state to leave your case at the bottom of the stairs and open the door first plenty of hand rails provided and automatic lighting (but I will say if you have serious mobility issues then it would maybe be a problem )

We've had a wonderful 1-week stay at the Hill View Studio. The trip up the stairs is worth it for the view, which we enjoyed a lot both on sunny and rainy days. Location is great, close to everything but in a street that's not too busy. We are vegan and Emma left such a variety of options for us to have a complete breakfast, we were impressed by this gesture!

Great Place

Hill View Studio was excellent value for money,spotlessly clean and comfortable. It has all the amenities available to ensure you have a complete self catering experience. The host is friendly and helpful and she leaves a fine array of different foodstuffs for your stay. Overall, my experience at Hill View Studio was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other visitors to Hawick.

Perfect little place - nicely furnished and spotless with a nice peaceful atmosphere and a fine relaxing view across to the wooded slopes at the edge of town and even to the top of the Minto hills (I think!). It's in a traditional Borders tenement-style building but the access stairs were freshly painted and quite light and airy so a nice place to come back to at the end of each day. Felt very spacious and not like the 'studio flat' that I suppose technically it is. Very generous supplies provided for breakfasts. Communication from Emma was first rate, and when I happened to meet her (I arrived a bit early!) she was as lovely and friendly as I'd imagined. The place is a credit to her.

Liked everything. Couldn't see a potato peeler and masher - but no big deal, as a knife and a fork can do those jobs!

Cheeky Easter Break !

We loved everything about it. So cosy but also spacious with everything we needed. Emma was lovely and replied quickly when needed. Heating was easy to use, shower was amazing and the bed so comfortable. The breakfast and little extra treats were fab. Everything was delicious. I personally liked the winding stairs, and you can't have a rooftop view without climbing to the top ! So close to town centre but also really quiet with everything you need for longer stay as there are enough shops, restaurants and take aways. We absolutely loved it and so did out little dog! We'll be back 😀😀

There wasn't anything we didn't like. Wasn't really a problem with parking. We got parked in the street most days. Only once we parked in next street but absolutely not an issue. Nothing negative to say.

We really enjoyed our stay at Emma’s place. We went to attend a wedding close by.

There were many items of food & drink left. Little packs of cereal + milk. Tomatoes - bread/margarine/fruit loaf. Cheese. Biscuits/crisps. Tins of baked beans . + few other bits. The studio was better than I thought it would be. Quite big & airy. Nice view over rooftops to trees. The double bed very comfy & space to get out near the wall side. There is a blind on the velux window. Very clean.

The entrance through the the ground floor is still being decorated & there is building work happening in the first floor flat. The concrete stairs to the studio are on a spiral, similar to in a castle. There was a handrail near the top but could have done with one on the lower level too. Not for anyone who struggles with stairs. The shower room area is functional but tiny. Could do with a toilet cleaning brush & a hook somewhere would be handy. Also could use a small bin under the sink & perhaps a toilet roll holder.
