hospitality was 10/10 staff were all really nice and accommodating. the facilities restaurants rooftop bar spa are all great. theres also laundry service and the location is great it is on the beachfront with a lot of surrounding shops eatery and bars. the mall is a 10 min walk away and seminyak is only 20 mins away which is nice.

room was good but a little small and it is good to be noted that the walls are pretty thing and sound travels so do with that as you may. i also saw 2 cockroaches in the room despite it being very clean.

A short overnight stay before a flight, wasn’t very peaceful but can’t fault the staff or rooms

Friendly and helpful staff, all services are run through and app or WhatsApp which makes any issue easy to resolve and services/treatments simple to book.

It’s a very loud property, I booked as a single occupant and was put in an adjoining room to a family with children. You feel like you’re all in the same room which didn’t make for a peaceful stay. I would have liked the property to consider where they placed me.

Overall we loved our stay at Mamaka, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be back in the near future.

The location was perfect for us. Also the roof top pool was sensational, and being able to do laundry was a bonus. The breakfast was good, light on options. But it was never a problem to have in room if you wanted.

Some things that I would have liked, was a mirror in the main living area. So if the other person was using the bathroom, you could still get ready. There was limited space for clothes, which we needed as we stayed for nearly two weeks. Also the airing rack for swimmers, etc was small. Not allowing you to hang towels etc.

Room for Improvement

Our stay at Mamakka by Ovolo in Kuta was neither here or there - it was accommodation!, But there were several aspects I truly appreciated—such as the warm hospitality of all the wonderful staff and the property’s vibrant, modern style even though it could probably do with an update. It’s clear the team works hard to create a welcoming atmosphere.

A few details didn’t fully meet the expectations I typically associate with a 5-star hotel. Air conditioning that was not great/ in fact nonexistent that needed an engineer call out and even after was not great. No soundproofing we had all the noise from scooters outside, party in room next door and I assume chairs and tables being moved upstairs. The windows need a good scrub as does the shower door. The basin and bath could do with a bleach scrub as quite stained. The towels had stains that I requested a clean towel each day. For the price paid, the minibar should be free. These weren’t major issues, but they did make the overall experience feel slightly below the level of polish and consistency I had anticipated. The most uncomfortable bed I slept in in 2 weeks in Bali, I had to go and buy deep heat and painkillers for backache!! The general evening atmosphere was non existent and I do appreciate that it's low season so we had to go out each evening to enjoy.

Chill place to hang out next to a convenient mall

The place was in a great location in front of the beach and within walking distance to the nicest beachfront mall in town. It is also close to the busy streets for shopping and massages. The rooftop pool is the main highlight and their attached restaurant for ala carte breakfast was nice. Their sun beds were perfect. Their gym was 24 hours and very well equipped.

Hotel room was a bit dusty, so not good for sensitive noses like mine. Was confused by how to connect their gym speaker to their own in house radio station despite the instructions there. Although just directly in front of the beach, it was separated by a very busy and chaotic road that you won't want your kids to cross by themselves.

Absolutely disappointing — more like a 2-star hotel

Emplacement Piscine

This place is a disaster. It’s nowhere near a 5-star standard. The rooms are terrible (see the pictures). The windows are filthy, the room looks extremely basic — no carpet, no decoration, just a small TV and cheap wallpaper. Even the toilet seat is yellow and looks very old. It feels completely neglected. Definitely not worth the price or the rating. 1- Poor breakfast ( you must choose coffee or tea + 2 eggs cooked + 1 cup of poor nectar juice plenty of water and ice ) All the hotels where I have been in Bali have buffet and fresh juices ! 2- the rooms have no decoration, no carpet, and dirty, nothing to have with a 5 stars hotel 3- there is no lobby at the hotel 4- wherever you will sit at the hotel, they will come to you 1000 time to ask you to consume and order something ! One bottle of water with 100 000 rupiah ~ 5 Euro

Location was very convenient, close to airport but still next to the beach. The view from the bar upstairs of Kuta Beach was beautiful and very enjoyable with delicious food and a cocktail. Lots of great lounges up by the rooftop pool, perfect end to my holiday before flying out early in the morning.

Overall great and we would stay here again

Staff were super friendly and always happy and attentive. We had an issue with noise and we were moved quickly to a quieter room, we also had a broken shower and tv antenna and both were fixed very quickly. Great central Kuta location, straight across the road to the beach and skate park. Fantastic breakfast was in our hotel's price daily, and we were so full we didn't have lunch most days. Can book tours through the hotel making it a quick and safe alternative to booking with street vendors. Rooftop Bar and restaurant have great food and drinks at reasonable prices and you get 20% discount at both onsite restaurants during your stay, just be aware that is taken off before your services and tax charges are applied, which are 16% combined. View from rooftop pool area is side view of the beach and can see all the way over to the airport, we sat up there on multiple afternoons enjoying the atmosphere and pool with a few cocktails and the beef woodfire pizza (yum). The hotel has an app to download on arrival and if you want to order 24hr room service, tours or extra toiletries, maintenance, or need to contact reception it's very quick and easy. The app also keeps you updated on anything happening within the hotel or events close by. Happy hour in both restaurants everyday. Great hotel overall we would stay there again.

Only cons we found were to do with our Kokomo room, beds are very hard the only option we were given to rectify this was an extra doona to lay on which didn't offer much, the bathrooms look a bit dirty and need a deep clean or refresh. We didn't like having a full glass bathroom door it gives no privacy when using the toilet. Can be quiet noisy from about 7:30am onwards all day till 10pm and sometimes later, we were in room 410 (level 4 towards street of hotel) to begin with, restaurant on level 1 and rooftop pool bar and restaurant are level 6, it was extremely loud around 9:30pm I went down to reception and asked for a quieter room, we were moved immediately to room 438 which is further towards the back, it made a significant difference and we were grateful for the move, if you want a quiet peaceful hotel this maybe isn't the hotel for you. We could still hear the music but it was much much quieter and we were able to fall asleep and then didn't notice.

don’t go to their restaurant it was terrible, very bad service anytime we went there we disappeared, very late delivery of food , missing orders and food wasn’t good at all even same problem with their daily breakfast !! Instead of buffet they bring you food from menu but waiting time over 1 hr and always something missing..

Everything is amazing, great location with a variety of f&b within and near property, a wide range of facilities many of which are free for hotel guests. Breakfast when booked is also quite filling, I am vegetarian- so had options as well. Rooftop social club is great with music, pool, food .

We had an excellent stay. We loved Bali, very safe, we could walk around Kuta and Legian at night.

The location and the supportive receptionists assisted me to change the room quickly due to some noise at my initial room. Also, good gym with new equipments

The rooms are not soundproof. The big family guests next doors were talking loudly midnight and I could heard their all conversations. The hotel elevators are quite smalls but still OK.

Week at Mamaka

Hotel is across the street from the beach, however important is that it is suitable only for surfing not swimming. Surfing school that has office in the hotel was great, lessons unforgettable. Room was clean and very well equipped. I had broken closing system on the window when I arrived but in 15 min the whole system was changed by maintenance! Restaurant had just amazing food!!! And sunsets from the restaurant were incredible to watch. Pool are and service there was very good. And hotel has public laundry space for guests for free which is amazing and very useful for longer stay. I read a lot about loud Kuta area but the noise was not coming to the room from outside.

A bit more expensive prices at the restaurant for Bali however the food was just amazing!!!
